2002 was a succesful year for me in tileset making, my best year yet. That’s why I decided to put my 20 best tilesets made in the year 2002 together in one pack (I may do the same when 2003 has ended). However, some of these have changed since I released them on J2o last time. Haggard, Island, Volitant Plus, Køøl, and Party Casino have been updated (especially the first 3 have been updated a lot, and Haggard’s masking bugs are finally fixed).
So even if you’ve already downloaded all these 20 tilesets this year, download this pack to get the newest versions anyway. What’s most important about this pack is the big document “CraccoNoDenki2002”. It took me very long to write (ask Ri :P), and has 38687 characters. I wrote a story about each tileset; where I got the idea to make it, why I made it, what’s in it, how I made it, if it taught me anything, if I encountered any problems while making it etc, and the details (filename, first release date, creator(s), pallete maker, theme, most popular level with it, own appreciation and number of tiles) of the tileset. Especially the story about Elemental Plus is long. Sometimes there’s also referred to another tilesets, especially in the Elemental Plus part. There’s also a list of my 75 tilesets (including released test and plus versions) at the end of the document. Anyways, this pack features the 20 tilesets (in the order of releasment); Haggard, Mountain Plus, X-Caves Plus, Space Plus, Volitant Plus, Yeasts Plus, Island, Winter Plus, Zest Plus, Future Plus, Køøl, Outerspace, Desert Of The Lazy Donkeys, Party Casino, Sanctuary Of The Vampire, Mini X-Mas, Gathering Plus, Poke Rainbow Plus, Elemental Plus and Santa’s Snowy Zone. Hopefully 2003 will be a succesful year too.
Nice, whereas some parts of some tilesets are really just a bunch of paint/photoshop FX over badly shaped forms or lookin like flat lil’ kids drawings, some pieces of scenery were very well made, detailed and ‘patterned’. And it gives the lvl maker a big choice in what tiles to use, which is very important. Oh and one more comment, may some tilesets lack an indoor part, which could’ve been added easily. (My rating should be viewed as rating for the average tileset in the pack.)
HoLLa.
