Description

I have always wanted to extend the C# series to C9, but not long after I created Zodiac (C8), I became very inactive at JJ2 and JCS. After more than a year of doing nothing, I decided to start working on C9 (which was supposed to be my final tileset) in October 2007. I wanted to recreate Legendary to make a more ‘serious’ tileset that would appeal to more people. The theme of the new tileset was supposed to be “Cracco”; the official CC (fur) colours green, blue and black as well as silver (from the Silver Dragon). So I took some of Legendary’s basic tiles and recoloured them. After this, I stopped working on it again. Late in November, Quickz asked me to be his partner for Cooba’s JCS Collaboration Competition. He liked C9 thusfar and wanted me to finish it so we could use it in the contest. Due to circumstances, I wasn’t able to get myself to finish it and I had to postpone it once again (Quickz and I used Agama’s Egypt instead for our submission).

In mid-January, I finally started working on the tileset again. I spent several days of almost non-stop drawing in order to finish the tileset as soon as possible. I didn’t want it to look too much like Legendary so most of the new tiles were original. The tileset became so big that I even had to cut several tiles to keep it small enough for people to use animations! The mask and the palette weren’t perfect yet but I finished them a couple of days layer. I decided to call the tileset “Cracco Castle”, as a tribute to my very first (and horrible) level ever created. The tileset as a whole is tributed to CC’s current JJ2 division members.

The demo level included is Cracco Castle ’08 (or Cracco WoC25), a huge quest level which also serves as a ‘teaser’ for my upcoming finished WoC-pack.

Note: if you hate CC, I suggest you don’t download this tileset.

you should say it’s typical a tileset of craccoboy :P
Cracco Castle is a easy to learn tileset with a nice quality.
it also contains most of the event tiles.i didn’t found any bugs (not in the pallete either like 8-bit background) gj on that one. and the mask is ok.
and it has a nice example level ofc =D.

This tileset uses a different, original drawing style and mixes new kinds of tiles with old ideas. It also has some great edited versions of old JJ1/JJ2 tiles and everything that a level creator needs is there. The quality isn’t Blade’s new tileset, but it’s sure a pleassure to work with this tileset, as there aren’t much new tilesets lately.

I like the flaming shaney heads.

I love the idea, and it’s pulled off pretty well too. I think this tileset could make a really nice looking level if used correctly. Some of the stuff gave me a good laugh, too, like the Shaney-torches. All in all, this is a pretty cool set.

What I want to know is why hasn’t a full-length review been written?! Well, now one will be.
Very good job, Cracco, eyecandy was great, colors all fit, music fit the example level, [speaking of which, the example level was AMAZING!] and like EvilMike said, the Shaney heads are great.
Masking was fine, buggage minimal, but the example level really shone. Remember the days of Hide-And-Seek? THEY’RE BACK WITH A VENGEANCE!!!!!! Interesting challenges, top tests of skill, annoying twists, this level has it all. Which makes me wonder, Why is it only an example level, and not a level in itself? Oh, bother. High quality.
However, as a seemingly requisite trend for Cracco, a bunch of tiles were ripped, especially from Castle1. But still, good set, great level, and dl immediately!!!!
