Any volunteers who'd like to put together the level packs for Jazz2's sixth birthday? Or people who'd like to host the servers? Please apply here and we'll contact you.

I'd like to help in some way. I could host servers, but I ping about 2/5 of the time. The other 3/5, I can host pretty fast 512K servers. Or I could help gather levels. Either way.

I can make some battle levels. Just be warned that i'm new around here, but I had Jazz2 for 5 years.I don't feel like hosting, since I can't. (Stup listserver error.)

If you want some battle levels, just contact me. I'll make 2 or 3.

Battle and CTF levels will probably be gathered from the J2O downloads, and the picks will be the best of 2003-2004. At least, that is what I would expect.

Therefore if you think levels worthy (and trust me, worthyness to be in an ABash is tough), I would upload them to j2o first.

If I may be so bold, I think this year's ABash celebration should be themed, at least in portion, around Jazz1. This is, after all, Jazz1's 10th anniversary. So some battle levels based on Jazz1 tilesets would be good, in my opinion, which indeed is all that was.

My two cents.

I selfishly nominate Bob to host. His ISP is among the fastest in the world and I am fully jealous of him.

Well, I have a lot of Violet conversions. I'll do a few.

My idea was that the levels I made would be exclusively for the ABash. I've made some levels before, and people said they were very good, ableit small. So i'll work on larger levels. (Like 110 x 110.)

If you want me to make some battle levels, i'll make a few. If not, i'll be depressed, but i'll make the levels anyway.

If you do make levels, we can not guarantee they will be in the pack. The person who will make the level packs will have too choose as many levels as possible, with tilesets pretty much everybody has. So we can make sure there will be no download lag.

It may be just me, but there seems to be a huge shortage of
new, A-Bash quality battle levels.

So for anyone who says they want to try and make
CTF levels for the event, I strongly suggest focusing on battle.

I can make some battle levels (with jj1 sets if requested) although I cannot assure acceptable quality and completion on time, since rushing levels = not good. I'll make some anyways, heck with it. Other than that, I can contribute to help compile the AB pack, but I doubt I'll have time to do it alone. Just contact me via PM (if my JCF inbox is full use j2o), MSN, mIRC or just jj2.

There are many new good levels like Waterfall Caves, Galactic Warfare, The Zerox Factory, Medieval Skyscrapers, Distopia (never seen it in any AB), Heavenly Havoc, Another Kind of CTF, All Your Base CTF, Moree Mines, Jungle's Edge, and many other levels I don't remember.

Mike doesn't like Distopia, and Mike's word is gold. I personally think I've seen Distopia enough times for the next few years, so I vote that it isn't included in the next Anniversary Bash pack. Same with Diamondus Warzone.

When you will create the level pack for Anniversary Bash VI, you should really put some new levels in it. In Bash 3,4 and 5 levels like DW and BBlair were included. In my opinion it would be a good idea if we would put only levels in the pack that are really created in the years 2003 and 2004, like Waterfall Caves, Galactic Warfare, and more good levels of the last time (Medieval Skyscrapers, One Spot)

FQuist

Ok, The levelslist is finally done. I deleted many levels because I couldn't use more than 10 levels with custom tilesets. Sorry. Let's start with the list. By the way, that's only the CTF pack, the battle pack will be done later. Of course you can ask for changes in the list, this is not the finally, we can still do many changes.

(Edit: Ok, since none has complaints about the list, this is the finally list for AB6 - the CTF pack, the battle pack will be done today. ~R3ptile)

I'll have to say this about AB 6.
Good idea, alright, BUT..

I don't think the host should be allowed to let personal feelings interfere in his job to host a neutral, PUBLIC, 'party' server and disallow various people who haven't done anything wrong at JJ2..

At 07-04-2004, 15:11:15:
NimrodDX // says: Looks like im hosting the Anniversery Bash.... No elmer or stilletto.

Power abusing is not funny and I'm very disappointed that things like this are happening. Very immature behaviour indeed. Please do something about it.

Stijn
Apr 7, 2004, 05:43 AM
CB is right. I didn't hear any reason for the exclusion of Stiletto and Elmer, and everyone should be able to play at the server, no matter if the host likes them or not. I didn't hear anything about them cheating or crashing servers either, which is the only valid reason to do something like this IMHO.

I think Nimrod should not ban Stilletto or Bunnyelmer unless they really behave badly and spoil the fun for others, but I have no reasons for thinking he will abuse his power. He asked me if I trusted him and I will say yes.

It's weird how people very quickly jump to power abuse accusations, for which they don't seem to have real good reasons.

Stijn

It's weird how people very quickly jump to power abuse accusations.

I hope you don't mean me with that. I just said it would be really bad if he would ban them. Oh no I'm overreacting again :(

Chiyu
Apr 7, 2004, 06:27 AM
I think so too, that they should only be banned when they behave bad in the server. But the problem is that Nimrod has already denied them acces BEFORE the server was even hosted.

Btw, if Stiletto's message was a PA, then "Aaah the CC gang is moaning" is a PA too. Besides, Flash isn't even in CC so you're argument is total BS again. :)

Nimrod
Apr 7, 2004, 06:30 AM
I think Nimrod should not ban Stilletto or Bunnyelmer unless they really behave badly and spoil the fun for others.

The plan was simple, although misunderstood.

The fact they spend there whole time trying to attack me, and my integrity. Its getting stupid now.

What was meant, is that if they come in there and spend there time attacking me, like they do on MSN and IRC, I wont take it, I will just simply kick them (or ban, depending on how bad it was).

I think thats fair enough, it was a warning to them, which got taken the wrong way.

FQuist
Apr 7, 2004, 06:34 AM
AFAIK that's not true, Craccoboy.

And PA? No. I see no PA in there. It's close to one, but what Nimrod was told by Stilletto was clearly a questioning if intelligence and maturity, which is something else than telling people they're moaning, I think. But my grasp of english is not fantastic, so I'll let someone else judge. Now, in the meantime, let's go back to discussing the level pack instead of this non-scandal.

Right, so I assume its 1.23, as thats the version most people have?

My main issue now, which is a serious one this year, is cheat and crash protection.

Sadly, more and more people are learning how to crash servers, I've seen programs designed to do it, and iv seen PHP scripts designed to do it. It can be done almost untraceable. Sadly, we will have to hope that a lot of people will respect this event, and not crash it. But some people might, so we got to think about what we will use to prevent it. Catylism could be useful (i think thats how its spelt) to ban Laser Shield Users. Although this doesnt stop people using packet methods, to crash servers. We will just have to hope that people wont. But on the same note, I will need some very well trusted Americans, who can remotely log into my server, and reload JJ2, should someone decide to crash it. I have 3 european admins allready, who can do it (Nimrod Online Employees, Myself, Xtreem and Seven aka Blaster). They job will be to keep an eye on the server, and reset it, should the need to rise.

So at the moment, I will be running Catlyism by Overload, and Links Apprended program (spelt wrong i know) that will keep an eye of whos connecting, and log there IP. Is there any other programs people could recommend, to help prevent cheaters, or crashers? Or generally make the game more enjoyable for everyone.

and on the note of cheaters, Everyone is welcome into the server, (even people i hate ;-)), but i will not tolerate anyone cheating, A kick will happen, and if it continues, I'm affraid I may have to ban (or, whoever is actively admin'ing, will ban)

I have good faith in Reptile, getting a good level pack togeather, and feel free to give him feedback and ideas as to what you want on it :)

Thanks,

Feedback welcome :D

Ok, there it comes... This time the problem was a bit different - there are only few new battle levels, the old golden ones are passworded, and I can't find their makers anywhere, because they probaly left JJ2 and the community long ago. I still had that limitation, so I couldn't use more than 10 custom tilesets. I tried to do the best I can, and find the most quality battle levels in JJ2. I also gave a break to new levelmakers to show what they can do, and don't put only EvilMike and CelL's levels (just an example). Oh well, I hope you like this pack, and if you have comments or suggestions then post them here, and I'll see what can I do. This is absolutely not the final list, and anything might be changed.

(P.S: Yes, I put some classic levels I liked, you don't have a problem, do you?)

Levels by: Blackraptor, BlurredD, Bobby aka Dizzy, Disguise, EvilMike, FireSworD, Flash, Labratkid, Newspaz, Nightmare, Satan, Scizor CT, Snooz, ShadowGPW.

Oh, btw, I finished to put the CTF levels and tilesets in a *.zip, and I also linked all the levels and tested it, I'm proud to say it works perfect, and it has a quality when you put all the levels together and you have fun to see the best levels in JJ2 (Ok, most of them). I must say thanks to all the people who helped me with suggestions: AvK, DarkSonic, Snooz, Labratkid, Flash and a lot of other people I don't remember now, but I'll edit and add them later.

I also must say a big thanks to FQuist for allowing me to organize the levels in the packs, and also to Nimrod, for hosting the best server for JJ2 ever - Nimrod-Online, and also because he will host AB6! Oh, I also must say thanks to the community for all the support and the comments!

I almost forgot to say thanks to all the great tileset and music makers! The levelmakers couldn't make their levels without you all! Oh, drama. I'm feeling so proud to be in this community, thanks.

Times like this I vaguely miss being able to join servers. Maybe if I just bit the bullet and installed a phone line when I got the chance, I'd be able to show up briefly... ah, why bother.

Sorry, I really forgot some levels but I promise they will be in AB6 if I'll take care about it. By the way, if your level was in AB5, there aren't many chances that you will see it in AB6 again, as you can see in the levelslist. Have fun from playing the levels in the special server, and download the packs before you join the match.

For all the people who didn't like some levels and said "My levels are better! Why didn't you put it?", I had a hard choice, and at last I think I chose the best (except one or two levels I could switch by better levels in my opinion, but you suggested them, so don't complain). Oh, and, I couldn't agree 1.24 levels, because 1.23 is much more popular, and the server is 1.23 too, well, I talked too much. Have fun from playing AB6!

By the way, I like the screenshots from AB6 server! They own! I'll make some later.

I added this level lately, when you asked me none of the levels had a shield. (Except a level I forgot) By the way, when someone lasers the server, nothing happens -> DO SOMETHING. Oh well, whatever.

(P.S: I'll add some screenshots from the CTF server later)

Bash is over guys, and it was Great.

We where lucky enough to have some suprise oldies come back to us, including Onag, Overlord and Spazzyman. People who left the jj2 scene a while back :)

We managed to get a full server (16 people), and had a great time (and moan about the fact that charactors where lagging all over the place). :) It was good to see so many jazz'ers coming back to Celebrate 6 years of Jazz 2.

Also, on the note of hosting, theres no way I can take all the Credit for it. I may have provided the Phsyical Resources to host it, But I wasnt there all the time to keep an eye on it, and Admin it. (Infact, i was out all of Friday and half of Saturday). The other admins did a great job of keeping an eye on the server, restarting it when jj2 crashed (or someone crashed it), and keeping order within the server. I owe them a lot, and they put in as much work in as myself.

So i belive a special thank you is in order for FQuist, Monolith, Labratkid, Xtreem and Optic (aka Ninja), and all the others that helped keep order within the Server, and made it a good Bash.

Thanks again guys, and everyone who took part and came along! :)

I think that the whole AB-weekend was a good idea and it was fun to play in the server, although it was quite laggy when there were about 16 people in the same time there. I liked the ctf more anyways but battle was ok also because my level were there also. ;)

So, because I had this fun I wish we will have ab7 next year then.

Being the first guy killed (Yay!)
Winning a level (Woo!)
Getting 18 of 20 roasts despite a black spot half as wide as the screen (Yip!)
Also winning the last battle level (Whee!)

My <i>outstanding</i> acts of <i>outstandingness</i>:
Playing lots of CTF (Aargh!)

I made some screenshots. But my FTP password has stopped working. So they shall be forever MINE!
