The trigger number would be port 10052 TCP I guess. You want to make it open and forward port 10052 UDP when an outgoing connection is made on port 10052 TCP.

You will still need to regularly forward (i.e. not trigger) port 10052 TCP if you want to host games.

Doesn't this belong in Technical Help?

Maybe link did help but i don't understand his instuctions.

So under trigger I put 10052 then next to it I out the ports I want to open 10052-10054

then below that I put 10052 for the trigger and 10052 for the ports

But how do i tell it that one is TCP and the other is UDP?

There must be a different trigger.

If it doesn't let you choose, then assume it will do both.

Trigger port 10052 should open port 10052 (the second one you suggested). That's the only trigger you need. Trigger ports for hosting won't work; you have to forward them normally using something like "Port Forwarding" or "Virtual Server". But if you don't need to host, don't worry about it. Try to get joining games working first.

Thanks for helping but I still can't figure out what to do. So I need another place I can go where I might be able to get help

Do you mean that you've followed my instructions and they don't work, or that you don't understand my instructions?

This is the only place where you can get JJ2-specific help. You could try technical support for your brand of router, but they will need to know what port numbers JJ2 needs open (10052 UDP and TCP).

I don't understand your instructions but your idea of calling the tech support company isn't a bad idea.

I'll try to simplify then. In your first post, you stated "ok to play online I need to open a few ports, i figgered out what they were but I need the trigger number for TCP and UDP? Can you help?".

The trigger number is 10052. Let's go from there. Do what you were originally going to do with that number, and see if it works.

It would also help if you posted screenshots of the configuration screen(s).

That looks correct. The trigger port is 10052, and the incoming port is also 10052. Does it work? This may not let you host games, but it should let you join other games without timing out.

You may need to use "Virtual Server" in addition or instead. Find out the IP address of the computer for JJ2 (Start->Run->"cmd" then "ipconfig" for XP\2000; Start->Run->"winipcfg" for 9x\ME) and use Virtual Server to forward port 10052 to that IP address.

You probably have a firewall on your computer then, or your ISP blocks the ports for some reason. Do you have another computer on your network? You could do some testing from there.

I have another computer but there is no way I could get a game on it.

I guess I've been defeated.
