View Full Version : (Miniture) Two Versus Two Tournament

Seeing how successfull BlurredD's Well tournaments are, and certain
players still want a 2vs2 tournament. I thought it might be a good
idea to use the the concept behind the Well Tournament to make this work.
The reason I am posting this is because
I need suggestions for some somewhat small, medium-small levels
(preferably mine, or another's if I can get permission to convert it).
Also, since I am horrible at moderating concepts like this;
I need at least one good moderator.

I'm in, however I don't really think a moderator is that needed. People seem to be self moderated.

I'd be glad to help in any way. Just contact me and tell me what to do, and when I have time I'll get to it =P.

BlurredD will host and moderate (alongside me) the first event this weekend.
As for the rules:
-If your partner or both players leave the server and do not come back within 5 minutes. It counts as a loss.
-Be prepared to rejoin every round. If say for example: All blue teams make it to
the next round; Some players will have to rejoin to fix this (sorry).
Partners will probably be chosen by me or blur. Having the choice of your partner is yet to be decided.

Sounds good. When exactly will this be? (It would be nice to know when to get online in the weekend)

It might be nice if you described how you want this tournament to work. All you've really said is that some people have to leave the server.

He probably means players will have to occasionally rejoin to the other team so that the tournament can work.
The Edit: Because of the way you worded your post, I just thought you meant you needed some more explanation on why players needed to leave the server.

Um. Yes. I just said that was the only thing that has been explained.

Okay so maybe I've left people who do not know how the Well Tournaments work.
Basicaly it's like a JDC event.
We need 16 players (8 teams) to join the pregame when hosted. Here you can discuss who'd be your partner. Who is vs who will be decided by Blur when it has started.
Elimination works like a typical tournament. The teams who survive the first round make it to the next until the last 2 reach the finals.
When exactly will this be on? not sure, likely around 12:30 PM EST this saturday.
(Oh, and all the matches will be done on the same day, in the same server, on the same level, so there's no need to say "I'm in!" just join the pregame server)

16 people for 8 teams won't be easy if the server isn't participating... (I'm just not sure if you were going to participate yourselves or not)

BlurredD's been successfull at gathering 16 people for his Well tournaments before, and it is likely the server and I will play, too.

Like once before. It all depends on what time the tourney is hosted. At the time FS mentioned, a lot of players should be on JJ2, though many of them may be on TSF.

I hate posting twice in a row, but I have to say that I won't be available until around 1:45 PM EST, maybe later. You're welcome to host or have someone host my level if you want, assuming you can figure everything out.

This failed, but we still had a couple of good games.

I would say so. I changed it from an 8 teams to 4 teams to make it less complicated. It worked from there, although I wasn't able to arrange a game for 3rd place.
The first round results were:
BlurredD/AvK: 3
DarkSonic/Labratratkid: 2
and
SuperJazz/ironlight: 3
Jippo/CelL: 2
For first place:
BlurredD/AvK: 3
SuperJazz/ironlight: 1
That's how it went. It's not official or anything since it isn't even my tournament. We probably should've played to 5 instead of 3 for the last game. Overall, it wasn't too bad after there were only 8 players left. Conclusion: 4 teams can work.

Glad to hear it all worked out in the end. All the people who complained are welcome to try to organize 2vs2 tournaments of their own.
And death to the idiot who lasered the server, crashing my system completely and keeping me from participating since the tournament had already started by the time I had rebooted. I was really looking forward to this.
