How to place such a nice flag thingy in your "location" profile field? I'd PM Link to know, but maybe others want to know it too.

Place a link to flag.

Place a link to flag? Like putting in the url? That doesn't work, and neither do [img] or <<x>img</x>> :(

I think you have to contact an admin and have them do it for you.

NO tags. Just type adress.

That doesn't work either, and it doesn't explain why Link has a "Canada, Ontario" alternative text for it :)

It requires FTP upload access. I do not think administrators are doing it for normal users, even by request.

Good question! Yeah, I'd like to know how to do that too. So I could upload a flag of Delaware, USA, & India. Link should post in this topic.

This is probably why they aren't making it available to users. Link only uploaded one little flag; you'd want to upload three, and someone will probably upload a wallpaper or something where the flags go. It'll get chaotic. Anyway, Trafton already said that you needed FTP access to do it.

As I said, you'd need FTP access to do it. Why, by the way, India? You are not located in India.

^^^

That's the country of my main nationality, as I've already explained numerous times. There are other Indians in the community, like Spazzyman.

Well, if no one wants to do it for us. I guess I could ask Link if he could do it for me.

But you wanted to put a flag of India next to what says "Location:" which would essentially be misleading. Trafton wouldn't have said anything if you said you wanted to put that flag in your sig or something.

I used a flag because a tiny icon is better than a long location text, in terms of efficiency at least. It requires database access to do, so it would not be very practical to give flags to other people. So far nobody has complained about it though, and Fquist thought it was fine the last time I checked, so I'll leave the flag there for now unless there is lots of opposition.

I PMed you about it, you ain't clear- will you do it for others or is this like the admin's mafia? [:

Ok, let's end this already. It's not like I told eveybody the truth about where I'm from. Everyone still thinks that Delaware is only where I am from. Whee...

I was born in England and lived there for 7 years we are such polite people. Now I live in Israel. We/I love to argue. I am a deadly combination.

I'm fairly positive to get a picture there you'd have to tweak around directly with the mysql tables for the JCF, something you should never be doing unless you know how already.

Moreover it would require either certain permissions, passwords, or ftp access to do, and I doubt any site admins would want to poke around there just so you can have a flag icon. I wonder if FQuist would care if I did, though. Probably.

Maybe we should make an avatar system, that would allow only avatars from a database (i.e. no personally drawn and uploaded ones) and then we'll have all the flags there or something like that.

If you mean for location only, an interesting idea, although I still like to keep it at a graphical minimum. Besides, most people are bad with flags to the point they would be unable to tell. Honestly, all I know are Mexico, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, China, the United States, Canada, and Israel.

If you mean avatars in general...well...read like half of the topics in this forum. It's been mentioned a *few* times before.

Well we could always still allow a text string. That lets us type in the country or better yet, when the country flag is selected the name of that countries flag is also shown.

Trafton glad you like my idea and you understood right: just flags allowed in avatar; no images; no flags or images uploaded by other people.
Why don't you start some petition or influence the mods to do that for us then?
