View Full Version : Jazz GBA Future

For better or worse it looks like there is almost no hope for Jazz GBA in the future.
Re: "Future games"
Unfortunately the answer to that is NO.
We believe Jazz Jackrabbit GBA was one of the better GBA games out there, with a great side scrolling adventure, Multi-pak and Single pak Deathmatch modes, bonus maps to unlock, etc.
However the poor marketing performance from Jaleco caused a lack of support from Epic Games, and even brought about the closing of Jalecos interest in the GBA handheld. Many people didnt even get to experience Jazz GBA and it slipped of the radar much faster than it should have, had it been left at the release price point. Had Jaleco been patient and not liquidated all of their GBA inventory down to 9$ a month after they botched the release, they would have benefited from the GBA SP that was released a month later and their products would have generated much greater revenue. No one makes profit at 9$ and thus, the licensing parties become uninterested.
Therefore I doubt there will be anymore Jazz products from Epic or Jaleco. And we, unfortunately, do not own rights to the license beyond the right to create that one title.

It's like nobody knows how to market Jazz.

That's because its character doesn't appeal to today's audience. Apparently nobody has figured that one out yet.

How do you expect to attract people if you don't advertise something at all, though? It's not that people don't like Jazz, it's easy to post on some random message board and get replies from people who loved him and wish they'd make a sequel. In contrast, you can see Sonic anywhere, from TV to random comic ads.

Aside from the fact that Jazz GBA (I call it Green Rabbit Adventures) was not marketed well, the game was also horrible. I paid the full $30 for it when it had just come out - and it isn't even worth the $9.99 it costs now. Any interest there might have been was probably crushed by the fact that it simply is not a good game.

Hey, it wasn't bad. Just way too short.

Nice to hear that this company will never make a Jazz game again. :)

On GBA or any platform? That's a big question. And JJGBA is fun, except for the story, which is quite like unfinished.

Complaining about JJA will never get anyone anywhere. Look at the Sonic Advance series. According to the average Sonic player, it started out bad and unrelated, but it's been getting back to the correct feeling. If Gametitan had been better recieved, and Jaleco had been at least slightly competent, a JJA2 might have been a major improvement.

On BlueHedgehog.org forums most members hate SA3.

Is this Jazz Jackrabbit advance? Because that had a really odd storyline.

It's hard to believe that all of the Jazz games after the first have failed purely because the publishers did bad marketing.

I agree, but marketing does mean a lot.

Even with good marketing you can sell bad stuff. Example: Unreal 2.

Yeah, but who has those old versions anyway? I have to download Doxbox just to play Jazz 1. Bill Gates needs a good kick up-

It is hard to know that there might not be anymore Jazz... I wouldn't care for another GBA as long as it is better than the first.

That's what they said last time. Then the first GBA game came out.

Pretty funny...the guy at Game Titan thinks it's one of the better GBA games out there? I think it was one of the crappiest. They could have done much better, but they went with a lame Star Wars/Spaceballs rip-off story and horribly designed levels.
When it came to stores over here, it was already cheap, but that doesn't make people buy it, since it still sucks.

Jazz could have a future in the handheld/console markets. The public seems to take to cartoony characters more kindly on consoles than on PC. However, up here in the Great White North at least, JJGBA had almost literally no distribution. Even places like Wal*Mart or Future Shop never carried it. I had to order it from some game dedicated store just to get it. So here's a bit of free advice to Game Titan and JJGBA's distributor: publish the game properly next time.

Okay, in true I am pleased and glad. JJA was awful and Jazz3 is not 2D arcade. Jazz 3 could mean end of JJ2, so no 2D arcade. Be happy..!

What's so bad with going 3D? There's games that suck-ify when going 3D, but the Jazz3 demo was actually pretty good. In fact, I loved it! If they'd release a similiar finished product I'd be very happy, even though I can't aim at all in 3D games and I'd lose all online games. :D

I agree with that, the demo was pretty cool (ofcourse it had some abd parts and bugs, but what do you expect from a pre-beta).

It can't be. It's illegal to distribute. Don't accept if anyone tries to send it to you.
