I never used to be the center of attention but now... that doesn't matter anymore! As I can check the current games-in-progress at any time I want!
Usage is so simple and it adds so much to your <s>website</s> life everybody should give it a try!" :p

Usage indeed has been simple, and it was quick and easy to set up. Efforts like these really help to keep the community together. I'd recommend everybody who has had a similar thought to check this out. Really nifty stuff. :)

I should note that you don't need a PHP script to use this GIP script. Simply include it as an object or inline frame:

&lt;object type="text/html" data="http://digiex.net/jj2gip/sl.php?lightcolor=EEEEEE&darkcolor=DDDDDD&fontcolor=000000&backgroundcolor=FFFFFF&bordercolor=0000DD" width="500" height="350"&gt;Your browser does not support embedded pages.&lt;/object&gt;

That will give you something like this:

<object type="text/html" data="http://digiex.net/jj2gip/sl.php?lightcolor=EEEEEE&darkcolor=DDDDDD&fontcolor=000000&backgroundcolor=FFFFFF&bordercolor=0000DD" width="500" height="350">Your browser does not support embedded pages.</object>

Change the height, width, and colors to suit your site.

You can also include it in a DIV file using PHP, or with a (stupid and dumb) IFRAME.

You may have noticed the lovely new Games in progress script used on Jazz2onlinev2, Hazes Hideout and also in a couple of days, jazzjackrabbit.net. If you havent seen it yet, on J2ov2 click Games in Progress on the top bar and see. :7

You may be suprised to know that you can in actual fact place it on your own site free of charge.

Although we wont hand out the source code to our GIP script, we will provide you with the means to place it on your site. You can completely customize the colour scheme to fit in with your site.

You can download an example script at: http://digiex.net/jj2gip/gip.zip

You can use the gip.php and just change the html colour codes in it and place it on your site.
Or you can see how you include it, and write your own script for including it to fit into your sites layout (Depending on your level of PHP knowledge)

Here are some examples of sites that have used the GIP script:
http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/gip.php
http://digiex.net/jj2gip/
http://www.dutchfurs.com/~haze/?cat=news&event=gip

Benefits of using this GIP:
* Maintance can take place on the Digiex Server should any changes need to be made, meaning you dont have to do anywork as the updates will automatically show on your site.
* Supports the new "Message of the Day" feature of the List Server Network. (The Jazz 2 List Servers now give out a MOTD changeable via a List Server Admin, future use can include important information/news/updates, or Traftons latest humour)
* Allows colour scheme to be changed to suit any site in question.
* Can collect ingame information and output it into a nicely designed box.
* Script runs within the same internal network as the List Server, allowing a lighting fast 1ms> response to request games in progress.
* Can provide a instant link by clicking "Go" to get into the game without having to load up the old fashioned way of using Jazz2 to get games in progress.

I hope this is useful to some of you, and happy jazz'ing :)

Heh. sure. go ahead. charge for the source code.

Of course I add informations about authors and copyrights...

(edited as I realised something else)

Note that if you use an IFRAME or OBJECT to directly include sl.php, IE will (with good reason) warn the user about it under default security settings. This is because there are cross-site scripting issues involved (similar tricks are used to steal login information).

This has only been tested with IE here, YMMV.

Yep, its free to use and you dont need to add credit, as the script automatically does that.

Whatever happened to Nebula's gip script?

Link
Sep 19, 2005, 02:22 PM
Nebula's script is still available (http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/gipOld.php), but it does not include newer features such as the MOTD. Using an external script also reduces strain on the J2O web server.

How come then, that I have the source code?
I got it here from main page or something.

Was the source code released one time or why I do have it?

I'm confused. Lol.

I have a problem.

My server isn't listed on this list. So I searched and searched and found this :

“If you find your games not listed here, or these games not showing up in your client,
Install the following patch: http://jazzjackrabbit.net/JJ2List.zip“

I went to the link and downloaded the file, and I noticed, this is for windows.(I have a mac)

Do you have a mac version of this, or can you tell me what I must do, that my server is able to be seen on the list. Sometimes you even can't see it on the listserver...

Step 1: Learn to write in the scripting/programming language of your choice.
Step 2: Learn how to get text data from a socket as for the list server protocol.
Step 3: Use your knowledge of programming/scripting from step 1 to process the data you got in step 2.
Step 4: Output the processed data in your choice format.

1. I know *some* PHP but learning fast
2. like from http://*listserver address*:10057/ ? yes I know how
3. Theres the problem, I don't know enaugh PHP to process it, I can make it show up as it does now and build something around, but I dont know how to get a given part shown on a given place and how to hide given things
4. Well that really isnt a problem

Jerrythabest
Apr 30, 2006, 12:34 PM
I dunno what caused that, but I found out that if I make a second list that one will list all servers except the first one. very weird, but putting those two under each other made it look ok:)

okay, no one understood this:)

EDIT: however, sometimes the second list DOES show the first server too.. this is more confusing than I imagined:|

EDIT2: and some way it shows an empty line at the bottom of the list

Apr 30, 2006, 12:46 PM
Not sure if this is your problem, but remember, in PHP (and most other programming languages), arrays start at <b>0</b>. Make sure you start counting there, or use foreach().

Jerrythabest
Apr 30, 2006, 12:47 PM
yep I do

EDIT: kay, the way how I did it is weird, but the output is what I want now :) tomorrow I'm going to find out how to convert those seconds into minutes, hours and possibly even days and then I'm styling it.. thx ppl!

EDIT2: oh yeah, pageclaim 8D

Made a quick class today that could be handy for others who want to develop their own GIP...

http://stijn.fuzic.nl/hd/ls_class.php

Simply make an instance of the class and call <code>$class->aList['motd']</code> for the MOTD, <code>$class->aList['status']</code> for the status and <code>$class->aList['servers']</code> for an array filled with the current servers.

Example:

Yeah because posting that on a thread about intergrating the official gip script into websites is sooo on topic. Stick to your own thread and let this old thread either stick to its point, or rest in peace.
