Name changes suck because then most people would keep changing their names and it'd be confusing and a waste of a lot of user accounts.

Name changes are intended mainly as a convenience to users, and a deterrent to multiple accounts. There are restrictions to prevent people from abusing the system and\or changing names too frequently.


Clan tags may not be added to names or modified. They can be removed or can remain.
Name changes may not occur within 4 months of the user's previous name change or registration.


Name changes will be recorded publically in the name change topic, to record the date and to eliminate identity doubts.

As stated before, this will not be reinitiated until we get J2O back to normal.

I think the custom title of a user with a changed name should be something like "Formerly: PreviousName" for at least 2 months if someone changes his/her name.

People who have their name changed will have a "Formerly" field in their profile and on posts for one month after the name change. This is done manually, so if we forget to remove it after a month just remind me. The limit has also been changed to five months.
