Anybody have the full version of the Labratory music in s3m or IT formats? It seems only cut down versions are available.

Thanks in advance.

Several patterns in the distributable Labrat.s3m seem to not be ordered in the sequence at all, but all the data is there.

You can actually change it yourself, within a tracker. The correct pattern sequence is as follows:

1, 21, 4, 5, 0, 7, 8, 9, 6, 10, 6, 22, 2, 3, 2, 12, 11, 13, 19, 20, 14, 14, 15, 15, 16, 17, 18, 17

It's OK. Alberto was nice enough to send a new copy to me, and I thank him.

Edit: and http://jazz.madskills.org/music/Jazz2Mods/Labrat.s3m is where I got the buggy copy I already have... I need to learn how to make my own s3ms.....
I use 2midi (http://www.un4seen.com/2midi.html) to convert tracker files to midi files.... and you can also extract the samples and use them as soundfonts... I'm making a Jazz Jackrabbit soundfont with these... and I need to make sure I have the correct s3m and IT files.

Thanks for mentioning that EP, and Conker. I've gone and fixed the version on my server, and (with the help of iCeD) updated the mp3 of it as well. The fixed version has the original name Labrat.s3m, and the old one was renamed to Labrat-original-incorrect.s3m. Similar story with the mp3s. Also replaced the files in the zips.

Anybody know if any of the other s3m/it files are incomplete?

Alberto
Sep 11, 2004, 02:54 AM
Yes, me, almost all the songs are different than the ones in the game, because the ones on LoriCentral are earlier versions before the game came out. But I have the original songs from the game

Hazel-rah

how did you get them? is it just a matter of replacing the header in a j2b file?

Monolith

..ok Alberto. Feel free to send me updates. I didn't know that they were incorrect, or that you had all the correct ones.

Always check mods for unused patterns. Moral of the week.

Are the links broken on LC or does nobody just think of getting the songs there?

I got all of them from Brandon himself to put up on LC back then, so those ought to be the originals. Or am I missng out on something? :)

How strange that I would be given incomplete songs. Once Alberto gets his up, I'm going to compare them.

Sorry guys, I didn't check this board these days and I didn't notice of this, I can send all the songs to whoever who wants them, I guess it would be best to send them to Monolith or DrJones

I got the original songs used in the game, the ones that Brandon sent you were earlier versions, at least some of them, such as Hell Freezes Over and the Carrotus one, as far as I know right now I can't remember of another that is different.
By the way, DrJones is the one that made LoriCentral I think, am I right?

Hazel-rah

why can't you just upload them to a site or ftp server? I'm sure a lot of people here want the music. And I doubt Dr. Jones and Monolith are going to send the files to everyone who wants them... they're in high demand :O

Monolith

Send them to me and I'll put them up on my server. If they're not all different, a list of the ones that are different might be nice.. although I'm not sure what I'd do with it. Maybe put it up for other people to see so they don't need to re-download everything.

Anyway, ICQ me so we can determine a way to transfer the files.

And yes, DrJones is the one who made LC.

Alberto sent me the files, and they can be found along with the rest of the music in the folder called Jazz2Mods-OEM. These were gotten from the OEM version of the game, and I don't believe they've changed in any of the other versions.

Sorry to revive... but this is important.

Monolith... your version of Labrat.s3m is still incorrect.

It is missing whole patterns that would not be in the song. Rearranging it won't help.

Listen ingame to Labrat.j2b for the difference.

The one Alberto sent me was correct, but I lost it 2 months ago to a hard drive failure. Alberto, if you could send Monolith the correct version that would be great.

And Monolith, I think you should delete Labrat-original-incorrect.s3m, because it is clearly the OEM, as is the Labrat.s3m in the LC files.

I'm not sure I understand you. Right now I have three versions of Labrat...
Jazz2Mods-LC/Labrat-original-incorrect.s3m - This was the first version I got. I was told it was incorrect, so it got replaced by the new Labrat.s3m. This file is just around for archive purposes.
Jazz2Mods-LC/Labrat.s3m - This is the file that replaced the original-incorrect version.
Jazz2Mods-OEM/Labrat.s3m - This is supposedly the version that you hear in game, from what I understood.

Tell me your take on those three files.

I don't understand you either. The version from OEM is exactly the same on JJ2 retail I think

I've downloaded the Labrat mod from Monolith's server and listening to it right now...Yep, it sounds like the 1.23 version. Hazel, what JJ2 version do you have? I'd like to know because in v. 1.20 the labrat music was remixed slightly with extra samples, which were removed in later versions.

Hazel-rah

Yep... my version is 1.20 updated to 1.23....

That might explain some things....

Why would they take those out?

So many versions... argh >.<
