We got it ! So the second phase starts now.. Tha Rules..

But i need your input for it again, we need rules for a 1on1 Battle ladder, 1on1 capture the flag ladder and for 2on2 CTF (+ more). 2on2 ladders are easy to be converted to 3on3 4on4 etc.

The rules must include basic stuff, score mode, based on actual scores or based on maps. Also which maps should we play, yes we can host mappacks at clanbase before you ask :P. example of other games http://www.clanbase.com/ladderrules.php?lid=1600 - oh and don't worry about global rules.

When the rules are made the ladders will go up and if we are active enough we can even start working on a cup! But thats still far away.

Oh, one final note at QuakeNet the offical channel <a href=irc://quakenet.org/Clanbase.jj2>#clanbase.jj2</a> has been opened. This channel will be used in order to let people talk about the rules, meet before a match, have questions etc etc etc. But also its good to let ClanBase know that we care about it. Ops are only for ClanBase crew, voice is only for CupAdmins, so don't whine for it.

Can you be crew? Yes ofcourse but detials about this will be announced later what do you have to do. This goes not via me but via ClanBase HR.

So what needs to be talked about:

- Rules:
. what maps?
. what sort of scoring system.. best out of 3 maps or combine the scores of the maps all together (yes you can also agree on 1 map on that system).
. should we have our modes seperately or should we bring CTF and battle on 1 ladder. (its possable with the clanbase engine)

Good, this should definetly renew some of the interest in the game and maybe even snatch up some new players. I doubt a clan ladder would ever work so I'm glad it will be 1 on 1.

However, I do not see the point in making a new IRC channel for this. It's really not necessary because we already have #jj2 and, to me, it seems logical that if there is anything to renew jj2 discussion, #jj2 is the place it should be directed. Perhaps a deal could be worked out where the ClanBase officials get +v or something else, I don't know. I just don't think a new channel has any real point. Others concur with me.

Alright. So.. what does this mean now?

I went and looked around the ClanBase site a bit to get a better idea of what is was. My feeble understanding of it is that this is comparable to JDC, except competition is between clans rather than individuals. Going from that assumption, possibly a good place to start in terms of establishing rules would be to start with those of JDC. The rules and scoring systems may not be entirely compatable, but perhaps you could also seek out the JDC organizers to get their input.

I see that basically all ClanBase games have a #clanbase.whatever channel on QuakeNet, but in all likelyhood I don't see #clanbase.jj2 being used all that much. I can say that from the experience of seeing how active, or rather inactive #jdc was during the last JDC season. People will probably end up sticking to the main #jj2 channel seeing as it's at least semi-active throughout the entire day. Not that the channel really matters much.

Also, one thing I noticed while looking about the ClanBase site was that clans, ladders, and such seem to rely heavily upon countries and geographical regions. Looking in the site's FAQ I noticed the following on joining ladders:
Only ladders that cover the region that your clan is from will show up on the ladder signup page. You can sign up for a ladder in a different region by changing the nationality of your clan, but if you do you have to agree to play on servers in that region.
How will this effect JJ2 in ClanBase, concidering how few and spread out everybody is in the community?

Finally a post with value for me :D

OpenCup, depends how populair it is. Will first test it out with a simple Hosted Cup.

Also another reason why #clanbase.(Gamename) are faster opened because it has full QuakeNet support. It means when we have a takeover or need a Q the support is basicly there when we need it. Even how inactive it is, thats not the main reason. The reason for that is to let the user find it easy on QuakeNet when he/she needs support from ClanBase. Because trust me already got some replies from people outside the scene that wants to join the ladder. If we use different channels we dont have this support. And besides #jj2 has nothing to do with ClanBase Policies. (it's miles away from it)

Monolith most of the rules are based of FPS games at ClanBase, JJ2 is one of the few games listed at ClanBase who doesn't need per-se a server in the same region (like WarCraft and StarCraft). So that rule won't be much of a value for this game.

How comes the ladder request hasn't been marked as "Approved, ladders opened" yet?

I'd suggest to take the battle limit to 10 instead of 5, and making 3vs3's "best of 3" or something, because it's the way clanwars are usually played now.

Aprart from that, I'm sure Shadow helped a lot with getting this though, thanks for that :)

- trust me, that will come when the ladders are open. The only thing that needs to be done is to get the rules up.

yay shadster!!!

Uhm reptile and all ye tournament arranging folk, whats up with the j2wc now? Do we still keep it?
I definetly say we keep JDC, but all the other tournaments could just as easily be held through CB, since it has the site and all. 3v3's r basicly clan matches, 2v2's r just 2v2's...Well sure a team of 2 can be from the same clan but still, we could just have spiffy names for a team of 2:).

BTW people dont whine about the channel, so what if we have an extra one? If it will become totally useless it will be shut down, and if not, we have more channels, which has its perks(and flaws yes..). Besides that is the CB routine, who r we 2 judge it? Cuz it seems 2 me that it works.

do we really need a hosted cup? That also means more organising which was never our strongpoint:)
Couldnt we just test the ladders 1st?
Anxiety is killing me =P

We do. JJ2WC doesn't have a website, and Clanbase's system is really comfortable and much better than the "system" (if I can call an HTML file so) I'm available to get.
