Problem #1:
I have downloaded the 1.23 patch for JJ2, but when I try to install it, the installer tells me that the patch is not needed. When I play the game it does not appear to have been upgraded. I have downloaded the patch from several different sources with the same results each time.
Problem #2:
After noticing the patch problem, some bright light in my family decided that reinstalling JJ2 might fix it. However, after uninstalling, the CD would not allow me to reinstall. We even went so far as to delete all JJ2-related files - levels and everything - but the only way to recover the game so far is to copy it directly from the CD and paste it on my harddrive.
I have no idea why these problems are occurring, which is probably why I'm posting here. Suggestions?

Download the JJ2 Uninstall Aid from Haze's Hideout and run that. Then reinstall JJ2 from the CD and apply the 1.23 patch to that. Should work.

I'm wondering if there's a difference between 1.22 and 1.23. Because I can't really name any.

I had similiar problems with re-installing a week ago. :O

Hm. The problem now seems to be with the CD launcher, as none of the options work now.
Using the other Uninstall (in the Start menu) tells me to use Add/Remove Programs. JJ2 does not appear on the list.
Also, the 1.23 patch problem has not been solved yet by the combined intelligence of my family *coughcough* and my brother desperately wants to begin playing online. Has anyone else had this problem with the patch, or am I merely unique?

From Haze's Hideout:

Jazz 2 Un-Install Aid
.inf file which deletes the Jazz 2 registry keys if you manually deleted Jazz 2 without using the proper uninstall program. If you did this and tried to re-install Jazz 2, an error would occur telling you Jazz 2 was already installed. This program deletes the offending registry keys so that you can re-install without any problems.

To Install: Right-click the j2_uninst.inf file and select Install from the menu. Or double click the .inf file.
Hmm, if you want to try bypassing the CD launcher, the setup program is in the Setup folder on the CD.
Although, if you did really clear all the registry stuff, as the uninstall aid should have, then the CD launcher should act as if the game isn't installed...

Conker, I got the aid. It doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone have a solution for the patch problem as well?

what i do is i go to the RUN dialogue and type REGEDIT
Then i go through all the keys that are labelled EPIC MEGAGAMES and delete ALL JJ2 related items. Then after you go through EVERY key, you reinstall the game. It always works for me.
Then, when you install your 1.21/1.22 version of jj2, just do the patch and it should be fixed.
Hope this helped.
P.S. Im on my lunch break and this is the last time you will hear from me for a few hours. Plus i have to work tonite >[. Cya
