As a tester of FSP, I can tell you to expect levels which are well designed, contain generally well done eyecandy, and are fun enough to keep you hooked to them. Personally, I preferred playing FSP over Time Tripping, plus FSP uses DIFFICULTY =D. FSP also has a relatively simple story, and a bunch of original and new stuff.

Final Update!
FSP is all but complete. It is undergoing "final testing" (for lack of a better name), and will probably be uploaded soon after we figure out how to get 2.54 MB under the J2O filesize limit. Release date is today, if you didn't guess.

awesome. But I just had an idea:
What about a .rar inside a .zip?
Blackraptor
Nov 29, 2004, 04:47 PM
Tried that, odin. Doesnt work that well.
Edit: Plus .RAR's arent allowed on j2o last time I checked.

1. The rar would be inside the zip.
2. See my post in the WinRAR thread in Misc.

Host it somewhere else and just provide a link on J2O instead of the actual file? Split it into two seperate uploads?
Odin

If the download is under 4 megs, i'll host it on my webspace. :)

You're probably just thinking its compressed due to that, are you sure you're just not forgetting to take in account that a .RAR compresses better then a zip, so if you have a zip with a file, and a rar with a file that you put into a zip, the rar-zip will obviously be smaller because of the .rar? I could be wrong, but I haven't found any proof that this works.

I got stuck at the fight with Black Ninja though. :(You don't fight Black Ninja. You must smash the crate so his "weird hackingness" will be gone. ;p

@ Cooba: I already know what to do, the problem is that I always get killed by either the bats or Black Ninja running around.

Posted my review at J2o.
PHT2, try completing Rent Collection on easy or medium first. There are only bats on easy and medium so all you have to do is dodge Black Ninja and kill bats by firing up. Timing is critical but it's a very systematic process so once you got the hang of it you can easily get Black Ninja's silver coin.
I want to know how to defeat Fooruman. He's the one that's truly hard. :p

Indeed, Fooruman is difficult. The way I go about defeating him is this:
Stand on the ground and get hit by spikes. That takes off one heart. Let the tube turtles fall. That takes off one heart. Immediately after they hit you, jump up and grab a cheshire cat on the side they fell on. As soon as you start falling, get yourself over to the other side of Fooruman. Rinse and repeat.
It works for me.

Here is my main strategy. I don't think it works on hard, but it does work on the other difficulties.
There are six cats. 123 on the left, 456 on the right.
Wait until Fooruman unleashes some tube turtles. Let's say he does it on the left. Grab cat 1, go up to the top, shoot. Fall down. Cat 3. When you are just below Fooruman's blue platform, jump off and grab cat 4. Shoot Fooruman. Cat 6. Shoot Fooruman. Cat 5. Cat 4 as soon as it respawns. Up to the blue platform, cat 3. Shoot Fooruman. Cat 1. Shoot Fooruman. Cat 2. Cat 3 when it respawns. Up to the blue platform, cat 4. Repeat.
This doesn't always work, and can be very easy to mess up, but it's what I use. Plenty of room for discovering other patterns, of course.

Both of your strategies seem very complicated and I haven't been able to pull them off, at least not with ease. I'll keep trying though, so thanks for your advice.
My way: type jjammo and spam TNT around the annoying wizard. :p

Wait, wait, I see ppl rating the lvl pack 9.6 and 9.9 while I'm stuck with 9.2, 9.5 and 9.7! How did they do it?! :(
Blackraptor

@WR: Textbox review
@Fooruman: I just jumped side to side on the cats avoiding falling turtles. When I screwed up in balance (didnt have enough time to jump/whatever) I'd go to the cats on the very far left/right because tube turtles dont fall there, and you could still hit the block where fooruman is.

If you edit your profile, you'll see a number of ways you can rate levels. "Textbox" allows fancy ratings like 9.9 or 3.4.

I found Fooruman was the easiest. I had no trouble with him once I realized that I was suppost to shoot him and not that little wall next to him.

Rent Collection is now at the top of the single player lvl list. It beats RHG (in terms of ratings only because RHG is all the way over at Multiple), Tomb Rabbit, the Lost World and Time Tripping. IMO, the only lvl pack not better than Rent Collection is the Lost World.
Violet CLM
Dec 5, 2004, 01:18 AM
Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but it looks like you're saying that the only pack worse than Rent Collection is Lost World? That's not a good thing, right?
White Rabbit
Dec 5, 2004, 02:16 AM
I'm saying that Rent Collection is good, but not better than the lvl packs I mentioned, despite Rent Collection's higher average rating. If Rent Collection deserves a 9.6, then RHG and Tomb Rabbit would deserve 9.7s or 9.8s.
I claim and eat page 2.

Huh. Well, that went unnoticed - I guess none of the design/testing team bother with saving. I know the only times I ever save are if I'm in the middle of RHG or something and have to leave.

You're right! :D lol
I guess he meant that lwe is the only one BETTER than Rent Collection. ;)
In my opinion Tomb Rabbit is an unbeatable masterpiece, while I don't like Lost World that much. It's cool of course, but I dislike the difficulty level and the length of lvls.

Dec 7, 2004, 10:45 AM
And what it has to do with FSP?
White Rabbit
Dec 8, 2004, 01:26 PM
Actually Violet was right, PHT2. TR and RHG is better than FSP. TT is also slightly better than FSP. LWE is not. LWE is the only one worse than FSP. I.e. FSP is overrated.

You know, after a certain point, it's not so much "I hope it's better than this or that other upload" and more "wow, that is a really high rating".

Dec 11, 2004, 01:21 AM
I don't really care if it's better than other stuff or not, I just like it. However, I died in Fooruman's Hologram Machine and because I'm playing with only 1 continue (makes the game a lot harder) I lost. :(
However, great pack!
I had the saving error in Black Ninja's castle too, but I could save in Mellenwah. :-I

FSP is still on top of the SP "chart". :p Maybe we should take into account the number of DLs when judging lvl packs, not just their ratings? It doesn't matter if something is rated better than everything else because it has only 1/5 of their total DL count. :p
Violet CLM
Dec 13, 2004, 01:37 PM
Kejero already does, for obvious reasons. Of course, counting downloads is not a totally fair estimate, either, as some packs have been available for longer then other packs, and people have left JJ2 since certain other uploads with higher download counts.
LittleFreak
Dec 13, 2004, 10:55 PM
I agree to what Violet says. It would be a bit unfair. However, I also feel FSP is a bit overrated. It's really great work, and I liked playing it, but a 9.6 is a bit too much for it I think. I would've given it a 9.2, but I'm too lazy to review. (THAT'S A RHIME! YAIH! 8D )
