Only me and few others probably care about this....but why does the post counter stop at 750, I checked to see my post count today, but in the search It's still 750? Are you guys ever going to take out that 750 limit of search results, in this case 750 posts.

*nods* It's mean if you're trying to find something like your first post ever or so. D=

The search might be affected by the limit you have on the forum....
Did you try changing your time filter on the main page so that it shows "All Threads"?
And Tublear... you have other accounts on this board you know...

What are you talking about. There is no filter for me. And yeah, I obviously meant this name. Not "JJ Tublear* TA UR" or "Morning Star CC," those names can be deleted anyway.

It didn't use to have this limit. It must have gotten reset to a default value when we had database problems. Does anyone know what the limit used to be (or if there even was one)?

I don't think there was one, actually.

There never was one. You could see all posts you have ever made.

Yeah. I've noticed this too. Been meaning to bring it up but forgot D=.

Ok, this is fixed now. It can't be set to unlimited, but I set it to a high value that should last for a very long time.

Now, I wish we had a real post counter.

You know our thoughts on this. We have decided to shut down the postcounter because it encouraged people to spam. We will most probably not have a normal post counter and would like the search.php script not be used to compare postcounts to others.

Well, your opinions on avatars changed, so I thought that maybe some of us could persuade you guys to enable post counters. Well, this is what I think. People spam, and it mostly happens in Misc. Stuff. People spam without a post counter, people will still spam with a post counter, I doubt that people will spam more or less with a post counter.
BTW, I didn't even know that we had a post counter, when JCF first opened. Because I don't remember the rules or whatever happened on JMMB.

There was a lot of spamming-to-get-a-higher-posts-count when we had a post counter. Almost immediatly after we removed it spam decreased.

Oh.... Well things could have changed since then, whenever it was. When was that?

I am not really interested in searching through the archives to find out unless it's important. Sorry. :P

I vote yes in putting it back! This doesn't stop spammers to come, they'll come no matter what to you do, there are spammers anywhere, there's nothing to do about it!

what's the point of having a post counter?
There is no such thing as Junior Members or any other status.
I think you want it for vanity purposes.
It really doesn't matter how many posts you make, it's what the posts contain that's important. I could just imagine a spike of useless posts being made.

I have by far the highest post count with a total of 12161, and I daresay that my posts are just as useless as any of the others around here. *sticks tongue out*

I love it how you made it that you can't search for your own nickname using the memberlist function. Or at least I couldn't find my own.

Someone probably could program a post counter in PHP that leeches it out of the member details' page of the JCF member. But everyone is lazy =)

Vanity purposes? Well no duh, and no your wrong about the second part. A lot of people like me makes useless posts all the time, that what makes this a great board. You can't just have all useful posts all the time, that would be nonsensical. Why the hell do you think we have a Misc. Stuff and Comedy Cafe?

The problem, and you are one of the contributors to it along with others, that it seems to be going the other way, having useless posts all the time. I'm not saying all your posts are useless (that would be misreading) but the thing is the misc forum seems to be going down in quality fast. That could in part be though because all the serious people seem to be either unpresent there at the moment, or busy flaming the people they don't like.

Michael seems to be the easiest target at the moment, yep. Anyway, very much true F.Quist. Now when did the quality start going down, I wanna trace the source! 2002?

Imo it went up. In 2002 we had like 20 word games up and running. =P. (And I chocked like 20 posts a day)

The concequences for spammers should be much higher, in my opinion. Temporary bannings should be put into more frequent use, and if we were to set up a post counter once again, then all word games and so forth should be closed immediately. It's quite simple. If you don't want to get banned, think before you post. It's sort of unfair that we can't have some sort of post counter or ranking system because of a select few nubcakes.
Don't spam or I'll set you on fire.
