It seems that most aren't really sure what Lori can do or what I made her for. So I'm going to point you to some sites and programs that use characters like Lori.

The first one is Desktop Wizard which is made by http://www.e-clips.com.au/
This program will give Lori things like: Checking E-mail, giving reminders, playing MP3s, tell the time in specified intervals, and take voice commands such as "Open Internet Explorer" by microphone. You can also customize Lori with this program such as her voice and her text balloon.
You can download Desktop Wizard HERE (http://www.e-clips.com.au/products/7376360/DW51_Full.exe)

The next one is DeskBot made by http://www.bellcraft.com/
DeskBot is a little more basic than Desktop Wizard. It can mainly customize the character and have it tell time, but one thing that Desktop Wizard does not have is document reading. You can have Lori read any document you wish by highlighting the text, right clicking, and pressing Copy.
You can download DeskBot HERE (http://www.bellcraft.com/download/deskbot_full_setup.exe)

Last one is Ultra Hal made by http://www.zabaware.com/
Ultra Hal is an Artificial Intelligence program that will talk to you. So you can have Lori talk to you as if you two were on an instant messenger. If you purchase the Pro version, you can talk to her with a microphone.
You can get the shareware version HERE (http://www.zabaware.com/download/hal5.zip)

Keep in mind, you don't have to download all of these programs, just the ones that you like. Here are some more sites you can take a look at:

http://www.microsoft.com/products/msagent/default.asp

If you havent downloaded Lori yet, you can get her HERE (http://corrupt.ahost4free.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=1)

Well she doesn't appear in my MS Office when I try to select a different character. I have Office 2000 (on Win98 second edition).

I don't recall Clippy ever talking through the sound card. Just text.
If it is possible to put an MS Agent character in Office it's the first I heard about it.

I'm sure you know other characters are available in Office. They can be downloaded.

Office 97/98:

Office 2000:
Aww... it looks like Microsoft removed those for some reason. I quite clearly remember there being some. If anyone knows where they went let me know. :P

Office XP/2003:
They appear to use the same Assistants as Office 2000.

Now that I downloaded DeskBot - cool looking, too bad I can't find a good voice for Lori. The closest one I could get is Mary.

The best voice I have found is the British Female one. It sounds more human than the other ones I have heard.
