View Full Version : View Counter... glitch?

I'm keeping my eye on one thread and I see people are reading it when I'm on "Who's Online". Been watching it for about a half hour.

However, when I look at the thread on the forum list it still shows only 1 view, which is my initial viewing of my post. The other people are not making the view counter change.

Is there a glitch in the JCF? I tried logging out then back on and it still stays at 1.

I suppose we will really notice it when it gets 2 replies and 1 view, huh? :P

Edit: Ack, suddenly it went from 1 to 18 views... I don't get it :(

The thread views are updated once every hour.

Really? I did not know that. I thought it changed as people viewed it. Never noticed it before now.

I think it was changed recently, because I know that it used to be done in real-time.

I noticed that last night. Then it jumped up. I think it is no longer done in real-time.

I have problems with other things that are not in realtime.

Like the "new posts" icons not disappearing after you read the new posts, and sometimes I log off and come back and it shows it as being unread. Very annoying. :(

I have to keep clicking "Mark Forums Read". Why would you not want these things to be in realtime?

I've noticed that too. I think this affects more than just the view counter.

It's supposed to decrease server load, but if it becomes too much of an annoyance for people it could be turned off. We can also change the interval to something more frequent.

Please do. :)

Any idea about the read/unread problem?
