Download DosBox and follow the instructions on the program to run Jazz:

You shouldn't be running XP on a 166mhz. (Which I doubt you are doing.) And if it really is a 166mhz, don't even bother trying DosBOX. You need a little more processor power to run that.

My advice: Install Windows 98 or 2000.

/me runs Win2k nicely on a P266 laptop. JJ2 also runs nicely on it as long as I tweak the settings down.

Hi,

I am using a p166 with XP pro and it gives absolutely no problems whatsoever-it runs perfectly.

I get no runtime error, all that happens is that the game begins, but locks up after 1 second, before it gets to the menu. The sound sometimes works but then it just crashes along with the game. I have tried running from the dos prompt but the same thing happens.

Are you sure the processor is a 166mhz, and not your frontside bus?

You can buy memory for under $100, I advise you to upgrade. Places like Best Buy or probably CompUSA have great deals on memory. You should go up to 562 or max it out at a gig. Make sure you check your motherboard specs for memory in your computer manual first, to see what kind of memory that you have to buy for your computer.

It is definitely a 166 mhz processor, a original pentium, it has 132 mg of ram in it.

Man, how are you able to play any high-end software with those specs? No offense

easily-there is no slow down, nothing at all, but im concerned that jazz wont run with sound yet something like novalogics Mig 29 will run perfectly with.

Ok, ever heard of the dual boot principle? It is possible to have two versions of Windows on one computer, but have only run one. It requires heavy tweaking tho.

And the best way to run old DOS games is in DOS itself, which Win95 and Win98 still have. However, Windows doesn't seem to recognize old DOS drivers. That can be helped with some tweaking in the PIF-file (Advanced, you'd need to edit autoexec.bat) to include references to the drivers. And it needs to be run in clean DOS after it's done.

Simple: Just press T while playing. Remember you won't be able to be move in chat mode, and that the line won't display if you press Backspace too many times (namely when there are no letters)
