What is your most frustrated JJ2 thingy?

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is really the best game i have played for now but there is one frustrating thingy: If you get a new weapon, in automaticly changes to it.

What is your saddest JJ2 thingy?

My most frustrated/saddest was playing the Sad beach otherwise, I have to go with what you said.

Tweedle boss using only one frame out of whole bunch of frames he has.

You mean those clitches that aren't going to fix anymore?
I don't think Epic makes a 1.25 so i go not wait for it hehe... :7

All those CTF bugs.

If you get a new weapon, in automaticly changes to it.
Overlord made a program that fixes that, although I never use. It's probably still on his site in the downloads section.

PHT's point is pretty vague (just about everyone complains about that), but I'm not going to do much better and I just say I loathe Epic's lack of support for JJ2 the most.

I mean all that stuff that wasn't finished. For example Abattle1, Arace2, the Tweedle boss, and all that. Some bugs are quite useful though, aswell as some of the unfinished stuff.

For bugs, the instead death thingy using CTF bases is some sort of "bug" I think. And what about "Freeze Enemies"?

cooba
Dec 30, 2004, 10:27 AM
The only thing in instant death I could call a bug is that when you take a flag, you have 0 hearts yet you don't lose a life unless you have -1.

Freeze Enemies are finished maybe except "Freezing" typo.

Limited JCS capabilites. Only 8 layers (no, they're not not enough! :p) and a lot of events don't work. Also, you it's hard to put two or more events on top of each other (having a desructable tile that's also a hurt event would be quite nice, for example).

cooba
Dec 30, 2004, 10:39 AM
Also, it's hard to put two or more events on top of each other. You can make double events with ease (MCEs), and the only problem is the fact that you can't place two different events on one tile.

Freeze enemies freezes yourself instead of your enemies. And actually the CTF thing in SP was not planned, was it?

Tubz
Dec 30, 2004, 10:58 AM
Several things actually, they almost outnumber the good things, but not quite, hehe if anyone is a wrestling fan, you might realize how disappointing smackdown 6 is...

-Unfinished JCS events
-Never goign to be a 1.25 patch :(
-Text disappeareance if backspace is pressed inc hat

cooba

Freeze enemies freezes yourself instead of your enemies. That's what I said... it's a TYPING MISTAKE. gg

And how do you know it wasn't planned? Maybe it was to force player to check the MP level online? Could be. ;p

I'm going to have to ditto. I didnt think much when I posted my original post.
And the fact Epic wont release the source code so that we could try fixing most of the problems ourselves.

I'm going to have to second all of this, including the ditto of Slaz's post.

Ah.. now I understand the typing mistake thing. :-)

However, I doubt they really planned to do the CTF thingy. :P

Tubz

That's because Epic sucks, we've asked, and they denied. Only certain people know why they won't give up the source code.

One bug I always hated that I am mentioning just for the sake of variety is that getting a fastfire after using jjfire 40 times instantly puts you back to the built-in game limit, which means you have to retype it 40 times if you want the cheat again.

Getting stuck in walls is another bad one.

JJ2's multiplayer coding is really, really rough. JJ2 is one of the few games I cannot play online because its coding is so choppy.

Personally I've gotten to the point where the only thing that excites me about this game is the possibility of the source code. If we actually got it and major improvements were made, I garauntee the community would have a huge resurgence. Alas.

Let's spam them with thousands of emails until they give it out. ;-D

Another annoying thing is that it seems I'm unable to play JJ2 over the internet.

My fps. My computer has no video card, and I sometimes have 1 fps or something. My screen sometimes freezes too. The normal fps I have in a level like BBLair is 14/15.

Sounds almost like you are ready to upgrade, eh, DS? ;)

Some of the things I find annoying about jj2 is:

-Holes in storyline

-Single player is way too easy

-what's up with the 1.24 title? What does it have to do with secret files? It's stupid if the title does not fit the game. Should have been called "JJ2: RA (Random Adventures)"

-1.24 conflict with 1.23. if only a patch could link the two... (I know about controller's version editor)

-flagbug

-seekers are too slow! :P

-RF Blow around

-The fact that the missles are not fast firable!

Hi everybody. Slugbreath here, I'm new but I'll cut all that crap and get straight to the point and actually stay on topic.

The most annoying thing in JJ2? The homing ammo! I prefer homing-free levels.

URJazz: Yeah, I tried to do that by moving the hurt event, but it didn't work, which is sad because it would have tile based enemies a whole lot easier. In any case, yes, more triggers are needed. 255 should be a good start.
(you did read the trigger scenery in other layers article, right? Or are you talking about foreground?)

imo:

Good things: CTF instant death thing in SP. "Freeze Enemies" if thats even a bug. Dewallclimbing (except I think its bad for your keyboard since you have to repeatedly jam so many keys at once. MCEs and SCEs. Belt event things (like Violets fun belts), the hook thing used in a lot of keen levels like FS's grassland one, freeze thing + multiple warps (see this a lot in tests), sugar rush + frog thing, lots of other things I don't feel like listing.

Good/Bad things (Both): Spikeballs can be shot down (depending, + they crash game if too many are shot down). Wallclimbing (many possibilities but many annoyances). Events dissapearing or disactivating/being inactive until you come in a certain range with SP (Helps save from memory errors and use big musics which is good, but a lot of things get annoying and I had many puzzles not work because of that), Laser Shield (fun to use in Sp, not fun getting crashed by it), fast fires cheat resetting to default if you achieve another fast fires, enemies sometimes dropping carrots and fastfires when they die (Its nice sometiems but often the game gets too easy and you end up having really fast rapid fire in the end). Probably a lot of other things I forgot.

Bad things: CTF Flagbug, Seeker Holes, Nonregeneratable things, bad multiplayer coding, lack of more complex triggering, unfinished events (tweedle etc), only 8 layers, bubba boss soemtimes jumping out of the arena, unable to import as many episodes as you want (you need a program to event be able to make your own episode (like in Violet's Hocus Pocus remake) + the game crashes if you have too many), 1.23 not working in unison or whatever with TSF, divide by zeros, flipped animation bugs, palette limitations (not sure about this one entirely though), black being transparent in a tileset =(, the music size limit thing, enemies keeping "afloat" sometimes if the ground under them dissapears (ex. trigger scenery), coins to gems in SP after a coin warp (DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE), only 1024 tiles for 1.23 =(, the extreme amount of CPU and computer resources this game unneedingly hogs to run, prolly a lot more other things I forgot.

About Slugbreath's opinion: yeah, Seekers are the strongest, but they are no fun. A wife, not a lover, I'd say.
