Pre-JJ2WC 1on1 CTF tournament

Due to many requests of active players in this community, I'm glad to annouce JJ2WC's first 1on1 CTF tournament. This tournament is intended for everyone, but especially europeans.

If you want to sign-up, you will have to reply in this thread and include your MSN address or your ICQ number in your post. Make sure you got at least a whole Saturday to spend. The first round will start on January 29th 2005.


There are only 16 open slots. (it could be changed if many people would be interesed)
The tournament layout is single-elimination only.
The opponents are able to choose the host themselves.
Each match is played to 5 points.
Weapon Regenerator must be running while hosting a match.
The scores must be sent to R3ptile.
Leaving the tournament would cause you banned from future JJ2WC events.

The sign-up's are closed. The next players will have to pass the qualifications if they still want to play in this tourney. They simply have to duel their opponents to 5 points, the winner will qualify to the tournament.

EDIT: I don't really like that there is only knock-out. The JJ2L system was better in my opinion. But this time, with 16 players... The maplist is fine, but I don't really like to play Distopia. =P.

You can already start dueling and send me the scores. The first round starts earlier because 8 duels should be done. I believe you have enough time for dueling - more than one week. Only 8 players will survive!

I am out of this tournament. I won the 1/8 finals because Mave gave up, but lost the quarter finals against FS.

I just changed Semi with SB2. Semi is too unbalanced and most of the players wouldn't like to play as red there.

Zaitox is not good enough - there is only one way to get the flags, you can just go camp above when your health is low, etc..

Just a note: Vegito will get a technical win if Messiah won't show up untill Friday, 12:00 GMT.

Darn it, CelL made an amazing comeback in our duel. I was leading 4-1 and CelL was already sure he was going to lose...but once he got me roasted once, I tried to prevent the scoring of course by taking the flag before him, but failed and got hit...
I tried to use the left tube to get to the carrot asap because I was red, but I didn't understand how fast can CelL reach the room behind the carrot from the red base. I ran straight into his seekers before I could reach the carrot. Of course I was so stupid that I tried again to run into his base too early and had one health again when I took the flag...then I ran into his seekers again...I was really nervous.
It almost went the same way once the game was 4-4, I had 1 health and couldn't have done anything else than step away from near the carrot and let CelL come out of the top-right room.
I was able to get the carrot a few times but always failed as I messed up with my Spaz double-jump and CelL moved so much better with Jazz. Finally he roasted me and ended the game 5-4. I'm really shocked about this, but...Gg.

Thanks to Vegito for hosting, had only a very minor lag which caused one 3hk for me, but that shouldn't have mattered too much.

Bah. My duel against FS kinda suxed.. I won 5-3 in the first round, and then he beat me 5-0 in the second round. Too bad I didn't have enough time to prepare for that duel and I was too unlucky and tired in the second round..

Well It's done.
We have dueled and I just want to inform you that CelL is a really tough opponent and very good dueler, but in this match , Cell didnt have any luck at all.
We started dueling in NewSpaz's server (dutch) , usually I dont have there so much lag but this time it was hillarious even Cell felt some lag and the duel was crazy. 5-1 to me.
In round 2 we agreed to play in an Israelian host since the first one were a dutch.
In this round as well we felt some lag although CelL felt more lag than I did.
and when I leaded 2-0 We knew it was lost for CelL and he decided to give up and started playing not so serious. so the crazy duel ends with a score of 5-0 to me 10-1 Total score. Can we say Good Game? o.O

That was kind of insane. I got three or four 3hks in the first game, and in the second game I could barely even see SkulL.

I wouldn't worry too much about the tournament failing FS. If I am correct, the original idea was that all the first round matches should have been played by Friday. It's Wednesday and only the final remains ;)

You have a good point. The tournament is progressing better than what R3ptile planned for. I suppose I was too used to at least one duel being completed a day, then when the semi-finals approached: I immediately defeated R3ptile and waited for a matter of days. I thought both competitors were being lazy and the duel would continue to be put off indefinitely.

Indeed we had a duel I expected the duel to be longer as usually my duels in bblair are with FS.
I was really lucky and FS had some lag so I letted him be red player anyway cant say alot about this duel it was too quick . gg.
