View Full Version : Many years ago, when i was young.

Long Long Long ago, many many years young i was, when i came around the video game Jazz Jackrabbit. It appeared to me in a demo cd that included other games such as Megarace, and other interesting games.

I began playing that demo, and quickly fell in love with its well built goodness. But like many things Jazz jackrabbit faded away, until several years later, a very anticipated sequel JJ2 came out.

It was a blast being able to play as Jazz again, and a new bunny, Spaz, one of my favorite characters. quickly i played through the entire single player missions. But alas it was over.

Then came the online play, so many servers, the fun never ended for me, it was all a dream.

A friend of mine who also played Jj2 told me about a community, one where JJ2 player united. that place was www.jazz2city.com, i quickly became apart of the community. Unfortunately i forgot what my old avatar name was, however, i have not forgotten my friends.

Rocky Raccoon
Dino
Alienator
Roaster
Blues
Dethman

And many more friends.

And quickly i grew to enjoy my stay, and was recruited by Dethman, as the manager of the War Tavern, a section devoted to the stories of Jj2.

But once again, after epic stopped the servers, the game disappeared from my life. But every so often i would come back to see how it was running.

However, one quick swoop of great stupidity on my side, i became what i believe the problem on the downfall of Jazz2city, taking advantage of my knowledge at the time, i entered the jazz2city ftp, and continued to push jazz2city off, by deleting the entire website.

A friend of mine, Roaster got blamed at the time, we both were the only two who used the mindspring internet, i had been away for so long that they thought it was Roaster.

I know it is kinda late, but i am sorry for what i did, in the many years behind me. But just recently on a whim, i did a search for jj2, and to my amazement it seems that the community has survived, and is actually thriving to an extent.

It makes me very proud that i could recognize some of the names who posted here from the old days of jazz2city.

And to my amazement the war tavern has survived, which also makes me very proud.

I am sorry for what i did, and i am overjoyed that the community has continued.

Apparently, someone with great power has just opened Jazz2city up again.

My old name was Mattimeo, or after i got threatened to be hacked by a number of people (Not related to jazz2city) Arven. I was incharge of the Daring Feats section in the beginning, and then moved my power to the war tavern.

That is quite amazing, because just 2 hours ago j2c wasnt up at all.

the jmmb is still down.

Hey, it's the hacker. Cool. I remember that stirring up a lot of confusion.
Unfortunately, none of the people you named are still around. Except Bob, of course. <strike>Bob will be here until the end of time.</strike>

Sounds shocking. I've never been on Jazz2city (I was too young on that time) but I would've liked if it was still up. However, I think we should forgive you, because everybody makes bad things in his/her life.

From the people you mentioned, yes, sadly only Dizzy is enough online to call it active.
Rocky Raccoon posts very few, but not really that much. Maybe you could send him an email or something. xD

Hey, i never went on the JMMB, but J2C was one of my favourite jazz 2 sites. Even though i was dissapointed by it going down, j2o came up and IMO its better in some aspects, and worse in others. BTW its very late in the evening here so i am just typing whatever.

Also my famous names are: Fireball (not fireball FoR, he stole my name ;(), KILLERRABBIT, Iced Killer, Firebolt, Dragoon, Taggerung. And all that. Hope this triggers some memories

Me and rocky used to be great friends, along with Master Fiend, another MD local, but we split up when i went to a tech magnet highschool and he stayed local, and now i have no clue where he is. Prolly at some super prestigious college cause that guy was a smart one.

I remember firebolt & dragoon from the past, and JJ Tublear from the game a couple times.

Hi. The names Mattimeo and Arven are both familiar to me from the JMMB. Although I bet my name isn't even familiar here.

Hey.

However, one quick swoop of great stupidity on my side, i became what i believe the problem on the downfall of Jazz2city, taking advantage of my knowledge at the time, i entered the jazz2city ftp, and continued to push jazz2city off, by deleting the entire website.

Well.. I remember that time, and unless my memory is mistaken life continued as usual after those hacks. Jazz2city stopped running basically when Wakeman decided the job was too hard on him (he was maintaining most of the site on his own at that time). Then it still was up for a while for the JMMB, until the owners pulled the plug on that because of the detoriation of board content at the end (no doubt also part my fault due to having made a few decisions as admin - not corrupt or malign actions at all, just counterproductive - that did not help at all).

For me the closing of the JMMB is still a topic that has never been closed to me because of the abrupt nature. I still don't know everything that happened and have forgotten part of it.. maybe we need to write some wiki article on it or something sometime.

Now here's a thing which has always interested me: who was J.Hacker?

Bobby aka Dizzy
Feb 1, 2005, 09:29 AM
Remind me, what did J.Hacker do?

And who was the person who messed up the JMMB changing all of the styles - was that just another account on the later J2C server?

FQuist

Those style (and forum name and other settings) changes were from someone who called himself J.Hacker or JHacker or whatever, so I've answered both of your questions now. ;P

As far as I know JHacker just hacked the forum at one point. Don't think he ever posted there.

Ahh yes, the elusive Jhacker....I remember him.
I know who he was too.

Quite a long time ago I got hired at J2C too update the news and work on the level area I think (don't remember), anyway, my brother (Alienator) stole the password to the FTP site among other things from my computer.

He then donned the alias Jhacker, and the rest is history.

Secrets secrets secrets....
