i played in the demo of jazz jackrabbit3, and I dont know about you, but I was really dissapointed... :(

there is no music at all, well, its a demo of course there is no music... but what the hell? the grafics are bad, it looks like it was made five yers ago... and the start menu too... whats going on here??? and the camera too... and when he shoots, why does he always have to jump? I hope they fix all this, before the game comes out!

That game won't be out.. and that version was a bugged early beta. Don't worry ;)

However, Jazz Jackrabbit is much better as 2D in my opinion.

It actually was made 5 years ago. Do you even know what an "alpha version" is?

I hope next Jazz will be 2D, but I doubt it because (-) nowdays give money for graphics, not quality of gameplay.

I extremely agree with you!
Good gameplay is what a game need, graphics are just "nice".

Jazz 2D with vehicles and such would just PWN.

Vehicles in 2D would look pretty weird if you ask me.

Feb 6, 2005, 07:17 AM
Example of 2d vehicles- The camels from Metal Slug.
Theres also that tank thing from the first Lilo and Stitch GBA game.
It's not weird if it's done right.

uh, yeah,,, it's would not be weird if you are a "real" game designer...

You forgot the Tank from Metaslug

Jazz should move on and go 3d. There are so much more possibilities in 3d, games are so much more fun, and Jazz Jackrabbit could end up turning into a GTA game like Jak. Haha, that would be so funny.

I would consider supporting it only if it looked nothing like the JJ3 demo. On second thought, I would highly prefer JJ3 to be an updated version of JJ2 with scripting capabilities.

I think the 2Dness keeps the originality, and the FUN.

I think 2D is many more chalenging for video games, the most 3D games are easy.

I'm sure some of this has been said, but this post really annoys me.

i played in the demo of jazz jackrabbit3
Which is ILLEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE...
there is no music at all, well, its a demo of course there is no music...
One wonders where all the JJ3 music files come from, then...
but what the hell? the grafics are bad, it looks like it was made five yers ago...
Oddly, it WAS made five years ago...

I'm sure they'll fix ALL the bugs in the ALPHA for a CANCELLED GAME.

You must realize that this was not even a public demo. This was a pre-alpha/first playable prototype made to be shown to the publishers so they could get funding to continue the project (which they didn't get). So even if you did somehow manage to get it, don't expect much of anything from it.

2d and 3d are just different worlds, none is better derivative.
Originality, and alot of hard work has 2 be put in the game, and then it doesnt matter if it's 2d or 3d. But it's true that if you want to make a hit, it almost has 2 be 3d, which is a shame...

It would be cool if they released a downgraded port of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 for the Nintendo DS - with some improvements and additions obviously, but I think there's a better chance of hell freezing over after the debacle that was Jazz Jackrabiit Advance - don't get me wrong, it's not that it was horrible, it's just that it was horribly average and uninspiring, I was hoping for a port of the original (quite possible I'm sure).

I'd love Jazz to advance in the direction Jak did. But that's my own opinion.

Every platformer seems to want to rip off of GTA nowadays, Jazz would probably have to go Teen to do this, since It's kind of teen violence to kick people out of cars, preferably doing it the way the masters did it like Carl Johnson.

Well yes, it is indeed sad, Urbz. But that's how it is nowadays, I think games should go back in forth between 2d and 3d, or combine the two, in this case I really want JJ3 to be 3d.

I think that it'd be neat if they did a JJ3 the opposite of JJ1. Whereas JJ1 was mostly 2D with bonus 3D sections to the game, I think that JJ3 would be neat with being a 3D game with 2D bonus levels.

Heh, I think I was the first person who wasn't a developer to play JJ3. Not perfect by any means, but it sure had a lot of potential. Too bad that Epic saw the light of Unreal, and never gave JJ3 a second thought.

I fail to see the connection between platformers and GTA.

A lot of the new platformers nowadays are GTA style gameplay. For example, play GTA then play Jak 2 or Jak 3.

You can do driveby-shootings in Jak? Ride a bike?

I haven't played one of them for longer than 5 minutes, but the only common gameplay element they had was running around and shooting (imho) and those are pretty standard elements present in virtually any 3d game.

I would prefer that Jazz3 would become a semi-3D game, which means 2D movement in a 3D world. Like Klonoa 2 for PlayStation 2

Ok dude stop acting like you have no clue what I'm talking about. The biggest GTA element of all! It's so obvious, kicking people out of there vehicles and using them or what not.

That's only one element though--with vehicles required.

Oh oh! And don't forget that little side map! And in Jak 2 you could get attacked by cops.
Hmm and wasn't there a part in Jak 3 where you were in a buggy with Sig, and you had to shoot those Metal-head dinosaurs with cannons? That was like a drive-by shooting(it's hard to explain you'd have to play it)... kinda-sorta.
EDIT- and playing a Jak(2 or 3) game for 5 minutes or less doesn't show the likeness of GTA, those 5 minutes are just tutorials and such.

You also do missions for others, you don't get paid, but sometimes you get a key item, weapon, or weapon upgrade. There are rampages, sort of: well side quests... Jak 2 was also rediculously hard, I barely beat it in 6 days (Real world time).

I wasn't. Alright, the kicking-people-out-of-vehicles element is something both games have in common, but doing quests or sidequests for a reward is as old as Zelda, or even older. So is shooting out of vehicles.

I've never played the JJ3 demo and will probably never get a chance to. The biggest disappointment for the majority of us was that the game never got published, not that its demo was bad. I don't think you knew a lot about the demo and its history before you posted this, jazz_jcs.

Anyone can play the demo, It's called find it and get it. But if your obssessed with what's legal and not, then you probably will never play it.
