Against birth controls. Did not really help HIV positive 3rd world people.
Also ( translated by me, so might not be 100% accurate ):
"A woman is supposed to listen and obey. I do not permit any woman to teach or to raise herself over a man. After all, Adam was created first."-John Paul II, 1988

Even though I'm not religious, I've been hoping for him to get better. When I opened MSN, the first thing I saw was a picture of him looking cheerful, so I thought he got better, but then I scrolled down and it said he died D=.

... wow, I was done before he died.
That's human nature, you're not going to miss anybody that hasn't had an influence on you. If some child in Africa dies, the Media will make it a sad story, but you really aren't sad for that child, but only because the Media expects you to be sad.

no no no no no. John Paul II wanted to make tradition alive. Woman cooks and man works. What's so bad on that? (It's okay when you do something what you don't 100% like and then you can go to Jesus for always, no?)
Enigma
April 3rd, 2005, 08:46 AM
Ah yes, but has anyone ever asked the woman if she wouldn't rather work than cook? These traditions were created in times where women didn't really have much say in these matters. There's nothing bad about breaking traditions when they obviously don't fit into the current times anymore. You know, like times in which men have come to the conclusion that women are more than brainless machines that raise children and cook.

EDIT: if you mean missionary then that's not an objective view of freedom, that's like saying having free beliefs is being unfree, and being conformed to certain beliefs is free=very dumb. And how do you free people? by saying "join christianity or die"?

Danyjel, I'm sorry if I am offending you. You have your reasons to greatly respect him, and you are also mature enough not to attack anyone who does not have that respect, and I appreciate that.
But being catholic does not have to necessarily make you narrow-minded. Why should a Pope not be able to think by himself? If each and every pope is supposed to think the same way, they might as well let a machine do the job...
What I mean to say is that a man with such power could do more good and less bad than he did. He did many good things, I'm sure, but most of us did, right? We just don't have the power this man had...
I apologize again. I can't think straight at the moment.
The bible is relative. It does not say "women are mindless tools made to have sex with". Or anything like it. A theologist has to interpret the bible in their own way.
I'll stop now and maybe say more when my head is clearer.
And Cooba, a reply of yours to this is not asked for.

This will come as a surprise to the millions of women who have and will continue to contribute more to society than you will ever. Also, many of them could beat you up and snap your skateboard in half rather easily.
If you think that women exist only to cook and are incapable of intellectual thought, you're the one who is acting like a brainless machine here.

That's a completely incorrect and ignorant statement. "Allied forces" had nothing to do with stopping communism - in fact many of the Allied forces in WWII were communists. Communism in Europe ended in the 1990's, and though it's impossible to say exactly what ended it, many people attribute the pope as contributing (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/04/03/pope.gorbachev/index.html).

Religious=someone who believes in a religeon, follows a religeon.
I don't follow a religeon so I am not religious.
I believe in god, and I ain't talking about your jeses' christian version of god, or the jews one, or all those greek guys, or some buddah-sumo dude in a orange dress. I simply believe that there's a higher power and creator of man kind. And religeon is a creation of mankind.
