permission to make an own version of jazz jackrabbit?

Where should I ask for permission if I want to make my own Jazz Jack Rabbit (in my own way, just use the graphics, the name and the story)
and if I get that permission, then what number should I call it? perhaps 4 in case someone finds the sourcecode or nr 3 and finnishes it

Of course it won´t ever be as good as the original, both in graphics, level design and the whole programming of it...

You would presumably ask permission at <a href="http://www.epicgames.com">Epic Games</a>. However, they would say no, so you may just have to make it without their permission like everyone else who makes Jazz Jackrabbit games. That's the way fangaming works, really.
And don't just give it a number. Numbers are boring. Nobody names their level packs "Jazz Jackrabbit 7". Name it after whatever makes the game special, typically the plot. Like "Jazz Jackrabbit and the Sandwich Rebellion", or "Jazz Jackrabbit 2: Carrot Edition".

I'd love to see Jazz drop down into a corridor and unload a 20 round magazine into a large evil looking tortoise then release the empty magazine, dropping to the ground in slow motion while he turned round and fired off a 40mm HE round from the underbarrel M203A1 into a pack of monsters, slapping in a fresh mag and loading another shell into the 203.

And that's just 10 seconds of gameplay.

Less if you're good at the game.

...A wolf? Are you talking about Spaz? Becuase, Spaz is also a Jackrabbit, Jazz's brother in fact.
