Hey dudes. I dont know if I actually ever played JJR, but someone sent me a midi from the game and I thought it totally owned. I dont know if its a main theme or just music from a level or what. Youll probably recognise it anyway. The midi was called JazzJackrabbit2_LabRat_XGv105.mid if that helps to ID it.

My version of it is at the link below. To edit it I imported the midi into Guitar Pro which is as a guitar tab program, that can play the tabs you write in midi. A lot of it is just moving parts around from the original, but theres some new instruments in there. I hope you like it.

EDIT: I coudlnt attach it (too big) and the link doesnt work, clicked or saved. Can anyone help me out with getting this midi available? Thanks

edit again: Here is the file http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/info.php?levelID=3710

thanks

Very strange.
How yould you get a MIDI of something that is only supposed to be.J2B?
Indeed, very strange,

Indeed, very strange,
Some versions come with S3M's.
Of course I don't know which ones, I'm no expert.

Welcome to Jazz 2 Online, have fun and leave your sanity at the front door :)

Depending on how big the midi-file actually is, you can try and upload it in the "downloads" section. You need to register for that tho (The main J2O site and the JCF each have a seperate registration system). Our download section can have files of up to 2 Mb, tho files of smaller than 1 Mb have our preference. Be sure to ZIP it, as our database can handle only that type of files.

The music in question is "Labratory Level" by Alexander Brandon, it's the music for the third "world" of Jazz Jackrabbit 2; a gigantic labratory. Most agree that it's one of the best musics in the game. The original midi has been made by MaliceX.

And Twinsoul, you may not realize it, but MaliceX and some others have made Midi versions of JJ2 music. Plus, the music itself is available for download, ask Monolith :)

In jj2 v 1.0 the music files are .s3m

1.00, not 1.0.

And when I say, 1.00, I mean 1.00 *and* OEMs such as 1.00g. 1.00 hadn't got .j2b support implemented, and thus the music files are .s3m.

I hate 1.00g, even though it's the one I have :-\
IF ONLY there was a legal way to trade in OEM versions for 1.20 at least :-\

It might be a bit late for this...but hearing it now this remix is rather interesting..

Structure: 8.5/10
Seeing as how this is meant to sound like something played by a garage band consisted of 3 electric guitars, 2 keyboardists, a knob twister and a drummer.. it's a little funny but it makes sense the way it's set out.
For a 'rearrangement' of the actual melody, it's good but I found it a little too long; much better suited for something as to a 'House' genre of music. (80's beat, much upbeat with repeating loops 4 by 4.)

Sound: 7/10
Those extra arpeggios caught my attention. The instrumentation 'could've' been better, but seeing there had been a fair amount of effort to the whole 'remixing' thing...it's understandable. (Listening through a Yamaha XG synthesizer)
Drumline; it's suitable but some of the silent parts didn't sound right with it playing quietly.

Overall: 8/10
Never expected or seen a remix of the 'LabRatory levels' from JJ2. I will be looking forward to any more coming, rock_ten. :)

There's a version of JJ2 with S3M/IT files!? Where!?

EDIT: A MIDI file should never exceed 600KB!

As was mentioned before somewhere, it's the OEM version (1.00g and maybe 1.00h)
I have these files uploaded to my website
Direct Download link (.rar archive) (http://www.newwavemugen.com/~aokmaniac13/music/Jazz2.rar)

There's also Stripe's "Labratory Level Not-Tested-On-Animals Mix" in the second musicdisk on Haze's Hideout.

And we cannot forget Lark's Medieval Rats which is a remix of Medivo and Labrat.

Actually, the macintosh version of the game (The demo anyway) has s3m versions of the music.

That remix does not suck in fact. It makes complete sense to me, but....just read my review. :P

Well, that song (as well as most of JSZ Jazz's other remixes) needs to be put in tune. I know there might've been a point where I wouldn't mind the way this track sounded, but now it just gets on my nerves. JSZ Jazz makes great remixes except for that one thing, and I think he would greatly improve if he just tuned his music. And if he can't tell, he should ask someone else. That's all I have to say.
