View Full Version : Jazz 2 Evolves, or not?

It's interesting what has happened to the Jazz series.
-First, Epic Megagames makes 1, 2, 2+ and demo of 3.
-They get kicked out of the ring.
-They change their name to Epic Games.
-Make games full of blood and gore. (Awkwardly different.)
-Then the fans rise.
So, when we look at this, we see Epic gives nothing about Jazz 2. Now, there are a few things that make Jazz live on:
-Jazz 3D (http://www.eckhart.da.ru/baggers/)
-Razz Arena (http://www.eckhart.da.ru/razz/)
-Unnamed game mod (http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=13116)
-Unreal Mod (Maybe) (http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=13097)
-1.25 rumours
-This community
Here's what I ask you:
Do you think Jazz will live into 2015?

Possibly.

Jazz will live on forever, since somewhere, someone will be playing it, even if this community ceases to exist.

Neither did I manage to understand why they changed their style this way. When I think that Epic started with games like Jazz Jackrabbit and ended up making Unreal Tournament, I see them as victims. They personally disappointed me by making UT and somehow, in my vision, they died.
Anyway, the answer is YES. Jazz will live as long as the gaming industry will live because we and the other Jazz fans will make sure of it.

How can this community keep on living if JJ2 is gone? Last I checked this community was based on JJ2.

It's a mutual thing. Jazz 2 needs the community, and the community needs Jazz 2.
It can't really fall apart. (Unless all Jazz 2 disks and download servers get beamed up by aliens and burned in the sun, then all people knowing about Jazz 2 get mind wiped and all Jazz 2 documents and relations are destroyed.)

If we really want Jazz to live, it would be a good idea to bring the guys from Epic to this community and make sure they read the forums. This way they'll realize Jazz has many fans and it's worth helping out.
Does Epic know about this site? And has someone from Epic ever visited it?

CliffyB and Noogy do, and they're the people we'd want on our side anyway... them and possibly Mark.
I don't think Jazz will live to 2015!!! I mean who is gonna play Jazz after us??? There will be better Games to play and Jazz will be Abandoned!!!!

And aren't they telling the other guys from Epic there's a whole crowd waiting for Jazz3? They could continue the abandoned Beta of JJ3...
I think / hope that Jazz has many fans than UT. This would be exactly what we need.

No, not really, the engine is too old and not many people would buy the game. Besides, UT and UT2004's community is much bigger than ours.
A UT2004 mod would be awesome though. :)

Yes... but it would be somehow sad to know that Jazz is just a mod for another game (and a cold-blooded game to).
A mod is a good idea though but the real Jazz 3 should be Jazz 3.

Verily :D
You even manage to look decently intelligent;D
Well.....>:) I'm Full of surprises....... >:)
Why doesn't somebody go ask Nintendo to buy Jazz or something? They seem like the right people for this kind of game to me.

That's actually a good idea, nintendo specializes in alot of games for younger people. I wont mind cuz i have a gamecube and xbox so either platform is fine with me. (sorry ive been gone so long i have to give feedback). I think it would be great, what we've seen so far on jj3 put into a game designed for GC and or XBOX. This way it can show us the possible detail the game could have been designed to do. Just think of the infamous JJ3 demo (which we might as well call resleased), look at the characters- just rough polygons, and no storyline yet. Just imagine on a game console how kick (-) this could turn out to be. It could even have a internet connection from the console to the internet and make a whole new community.
Even though i havent played jj2 for a while (yes its that darn world of warcraft thats so addicting) im a little out of touch, but i still love the game just as much as the first day i got it for christmas.
I hope this idea is actually EMAILED TO NINTENDO OR XBOX (HINT HINT HINT) where our community might actually stand a chance
Oh and btw, IM BACK! (for like 5 minutes)

Something like that happened before. Remember Jazz Jackrabbit Advance?

Nonononon. Don't release for gamecube. Release Jazz 3 on the upcoming Nintendo Revolution game system! (Internet support right out of the box.) That would be sweetness! :H

jazz on the revolution sounds cool;D but i hope it ever come for the gamecube too
Anything but Xbox, or any Sony stuff would be best.

On another note, you can't email things to a console. The company is Microsoft.

I think it's evident that Epic Games is not pursueing and is not going to pursue any development of the Jazz Jackrabbit franchise. Do you guys not get it? There are like 500 people that still give a (-) about Jazz. Five hundred people is not a lot of people. Five hundred thousand would be more like it. Epic's not bringing it back.
We're not going to see Jazz on consoles, either. Last time I checked, the demand for shooters about humanoid animals has decreased since the original game, which was over a decade ago. I don't see how a green rabbit can be adapted to the realistic standards of today's games.
Be realistic. It would take a major change in the world of video games for Jazz Jackrabbit to come back. The trends today are just so far away from the theme of Jazz that there I can see no chance for a new Jazz game in the near future.

Well, one of the main problems with Jazz living on to 2015 is the rapid developtments on the field of computer technology. In only a few years, computers will probably be produced that can't even run this game anymore. Jazz 1 is already only playable on most modern-day computers using things like turbo pascal patch or whatever it was called, because otherwise the computer is just too fast to run it. The same fate will befall Jazz 2 in time.
Also, there is of course the fact that the small community we have now will eventualy grow out of this game. Don't say you'll be playing this game forever, as you know you won't be. People grow up, develop and change their interests. Sure there are those who will/would like to keep playing, but with the group of people who still actualy play regularly shrinking rapidly, it just won't be enough.
And no, I'm not being pesimistic or negative, I'm just being realistic. I would glady have things be some other way, but bar some miracle or unforeseen development, it's just not likely to happen.
There's my two cents.

the topic is about Jazz2, but i think it should be about jazz games.
like baggers and me are working on 3d games that will last a lot longer than old 2d games.
we should make new jazz (fan) games popular so we can attract new jazz players.
maybe this is the way of keeping jazz alive, i like playing old games cos i played them back in the years, but what about the ones who did not play it then? right they wont even know there is a jazz. the only way to let them now is to let them play an old jazz game or give them a cool 3d game to get to know jazz.
i think the last option will have a better result.
