Ok everyone, here's a heads-up from Slayo. Due to circumstances beyond his control (i.e. work and loss of internet) he can't plan the meeting now. However he asked us, JelZe and Chicagal, to plan for him.

It will be a one-day event due to lack of time, we're open to ideas on location and what we can do. Also, we'd like to know what day between the 15th and 21st of August (the week originally planned) would suit best for your guys.

Thank you :)

Ok, the Walibi World is (kinda) the only thing we have at the moment... let's make that our spot untill someone puts forward a better suggestion. It seems the date is our main problem now, so let's focus on that. As said earlier, somewhere between the 17th and the 21st of August (except the 18th) is our main target, so we'd like to know who's available when.

One more thing: if less than 5 people can come in that period, we can consider the meeting cancelled for this year.

I'm pretty much free untill the last week of august.. My attendance will probably depend on the amount of money it'd cost me to come, as I'm trying not to make any major spendings (being more then 15 to 20 euros max) untill Abunai, a big Dutch anime convention which is comming up in september.

In other words, Walibi world probably wouldn't work for me unless I'm somehow able to hitch a ride there, which I don't really see happening.

I don't know, really.. will have to think about that. Alternatively, maybe (don't know if this is a good idea) we can assemble in the theme park *and* the station, so that some people can come earlier. I'll be away until the 19th so it'll be short notice.. so it's something the others/you will have to decide on, wether to group at the station and do something like find a place to have a drink or wether to meet in the park so that some can come earlier so that the day isn't so awfully short.

Shaney, shaney, shaney...

If only you looked at the topic a little more often, the new date was set a week ago! I wouldn't call that sudden... Besides, Slayo asked us to organize it, and changes can happen. Walibi World is nicely in the middle of Holland, Slagharen is almost at the German border! That may be closer to you, but not for the most of us. It is cheaper tho...

Also, if you keep harassing people like you did with vegito, then don't bother showing up.

Here's an idea for the assembly: those who can (only) come really early (like 2 hours) are free to go to the park ahead of us. However, we do like to be informed beforehand so we won't idly wait for those who are already at the park. If you arrive at around 11:30 am, please wait at the station. People coming solely by bus can go directly to the park. How does that sound?

There's one more thing I need to know: is there any specific point in the station where we're going to meet each other (you know, like the Free Record Shop we used in Den Haag last year)? It doesn't look like there's going to be that many of us at the station, so it would be hard to wander around aimlessly until we bump into each other.

Maybe it's not a good idea to come earlier then. Or maybe we can do something else in Harderwijk for two hours? You know Harderwijk, maybe you know something. Good to decide on that one day beforehand :S

About lunch, I'm not going to buy much food in the park. I doubt we can stand Walibi World all day anyways. I do not know if Esmeralda and Jelle have something planned about how the day progresses, so I can't say much, but maybe we can go to a restaurant in Harderwijk afterwards. Might have a more pleasant atmosphere than Walibi World since its food places are pretty ...commercial as far as I remember and maybe busy in its restaurants. I think maybe it would be a good idea if everyone who also like me does not want to spend much money on food during the day (unlike, for example, spending money when we eat all together, like in the mcdonalds last year, and the pancake restaurant on the canoe meeting, THAT would be fine, but I'm not going to buy snacks in Walibi World just because I did not take lunch with me) would buy some food to take and also buy something sweet for the others, if that person has mony. It can often be very cheap. You could just buy some apples, or some hot dogs to bake in the oven before going to the meeting, etc. I know that I'll take some stuff along for the others. If more people do it, we could save money we'd have spend on buying something quick at a snack tent during the day for a dinner together.

Whew, that paragraph was a little long. Summary: I'd like everyone to take some food along to share, which saves everyone in costs on expensive food stalls and saves money for a restaurant together.

I do think we need to do more than Walibi World if it tires too many people after a while. It would not be fun if people left the meeting after just being there for 5-6 hours just because the park got tireing, like how the beach meeting last year was pretty short because it tired people.

It seems that the weather may be good, but could also be bad. Weather report says 30% chance it'll rain. If it's really bad, are there any indoor attractions at Walibi? If not, what would we do if it rained badly? Find a bowling place or something, or go anyways? It'd be a good idea for everyone to take along rainclothing and possibly umbrellas if you can fit them in your backpack.

Esme, Jelle, should I make a last-minute J2O announcement about the meeting?

Ok, just a last minute post for the works:

1. We meet at Harderwijk Station at noon (12 o'clock).
2. Those who come an hour or two earlier can go ahead to the park in front of the rest, tho it would be a good idea to seperate the early from the late.
3. The early should message or call either me, Esme or Fquist, to let us know we don't have to wait for them.

As for lunches, yes bringing lunches will probably be best, we can pick up stuff from the station if necessary. I'll be bringing sandwiches myself.

If the weather is really, really bad, we can consider postponing: I checked the Harderwijk site, but it doesn't have anything spectacular other than the Dolfinarium.

And a last-minute announcement would be a good idea to attract more people. That is all.

Do not call me if you come to the meeting earlier, since *I'll* be one of the people coming to the meeting earlier myself. The early group should meet around 10 o clock at Harderwijk central station. Toxicbunny, me, Newspaz should be there, and possibly others. Those NOT coming early should come at noon like JelZe said.

I'm taking along buns and ham for 18 people and sausage breads. I'm not taking drinks, so someone else might want to take care of that.

Pic (http://frank.politiekblog.com/pics/EU2005/DSC00121.JPG): Looks like somebody didn't want to pay for the actual picture. Not a bad alternative though.

Is that mirrow hugging the blue elephant?

Here's all I could work out from the group picture:
Jelze and Esme are on the far left, next to each other.
Vegito is on the top, wearing a white t-shirt. Ri's is right under him, <s>holding some lucky guy</s> (oh, wait, that's only mirrow :p). Shaney is standing above Enigma, casting spells on his unsuspecting head.

..I don't recognize Frank because all I got is his avatar picture. ;P

The rest look like strangers. :(

Great meeting. Best since the canoe one three years ago, I'd say.

Does anybody know if Pyro and Enigma managed to get home? I assume they did.

People on the group pic, left to right:

Picture(s) with Cullum (taken by Ri):

Top row - Vegito, Pyro
Second row - JelZe, Esme, Newspaz, Mirrow, Shadow, Electric, Shaney
Bottom row - Cullum, Toxicbunny, FQuist, Enigma

Picture(s) with Ri (taken by Cullum):

Top row - Vegito, Pyro
Second row - JelZe, Esme, Mirrow, Ri, Shadow, Electric, Shaney
Bottom row - Newspaz, Toxicbunny, FQuist, Enigma

(Cullum is a british friend of Esme and JelZe)

Dsc00065rs.jpg is Toxicbunny being trivia master and reading JJ2 trivia questions.

Properly compressed pictures have been posted now (I wasn't going to work on retouching and compressing photos at close to midnight, yesterday). And one movie, which, I should warn for, contains vulgar dutch (and some english) language.

There are more pictures coming, I've got 109, not including movies.

Just got back, yay!

It was an awesome meeting and I had a great time. But I would ask everyone to ignore the Crazy Dutch Swearfest. ;)

Yes, Pyro and I did get home safe and sound. No thanks to the "suspicious package" in the Utrecht Centraal railway station though, forcing us to travel around half of the Netherlands before being rescued by my parents in Rotterdam =P

Thanks to Electric, who took the pics and hosts them. <small><strike>And who is definitely very swift in actually uploading the pictures</strike></small>

I'm sure Toxicbunny will use the comment section on the pics fast to grace them with descriptions ;-) ;-)
