Im thinking about downloading the demo for this game, the question is will the demo be able to go online? Is there even anyone online for this game anymore, it is pretty old.

Welcome to the community. It might help if you look around J2O before asking these questions, as each is explained, in detail, in multiple areas on the website.

In case you're looking for answers:
With a patch you should be able to go online with the shareware version of JJ2. But I can guarantee you, you will be pretty much the only one, since noone will be able to join your games.

If you're at all interested in 2D platform games, you'll probably be convinced to buy the full version after just trying the singleplayer shareware episode. ;P

(Speaking from my experience only).

The demo contains an episode with three singleplayer levels and two multiplayer levels, but those are only available for splitscreen mode (on one computer).

To play online, you would need to buy the full version.

No, as far as I recall the demo had one or two online CTF levels or something.

You can actually play online, there's even a CTF map there (Diamondus Warzone) but it's unfixed (lighting shield and floodbug).

Last time I checked, the shareware version could only do Treasure mode.

Shareware has CTF. You could play with other people in shareware, but they'd have to host their server in shareware mode (you can do this with PC4) and they wont be able to join if you host a custom level.

So if I go online with the demo, no one will join, even with the patch?

You can start a server and people will be able to join. However, you will not be able to join other people's servers unless they set it up specially to run in Shareware mode.

So that means that there won't be alot of people to play with.

You will be able to play with as many people who are willing to join a server containing a level that lots of people are sick of. To go further than that, you will have to buy the full version, though I would suggest trying the demo first to make sure you want to.

Download "Listservers Patch" and probably the v1.23 patch for SHAREWARE versions, unless you already have v1.23.
