View Full Version : Cheating in CTF games

I have noticed a recent outbreak of people taking advantage of a particularly annoying bug in CTF games. I am not going to say how to do this, because I am afraid it will lead to more exploitation of this bug. I will describe what it does though.
When using this method of cheating, the cheater will keep the flag when he or she dies. This will allow them to enter their base with the enimy flag and score a quick and easy point. Some people think that it is caused by lag, but it is not.
The reason I am posting this topic is because I have had enough, and that I need to inform everyone that it IS NOT lag that causes people to keep the flag when they die.

Actually, what you're talking about happens to be a rule of CTF and not a bug. =\
People do happen to use that rule to their advantage sometimes, though...

I am going to experiment with that... But not take it too far.

That always happens in offline games, kind of seems pointless to give the option really...

What's most annoying is that people don't mask the whole level (Shareware players are out of luck) to prevent such bug; but I'm not sure about this bug.
Most likely, I think it's a missed data that can affect other players. Noone can't prevent missed data because Jazz2.exe supports lag-tolerance and it's not optional to turn it off.

I 've never seen anyone do that but I think I know how they do it.

I presune you mean the whole edge, not the whole level? http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Exactly... the "whole-edge" of the level http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I think the bug's caused by staying at the enemy base when you get roasted...

I know that. Don't tell other people how to do it.

I already knew about that one.

Hmm, actually, it's caused by jj2's method of predicting... when you die your character is "warped" yet not in a virtual subspace, he's still in the real world, and so he captures the flag again.
Or it could just be the dead body (it takes like 3 seconds for spaz to die?), catching the flag and then you warping becuase you died.

Either way it's a perfectly legal way to play CTF unless the level has starts right next to the base. =P

It may be legal, but it is also unfair.

Well, I have to recognize that I do that trick, of course I'm not telling how, but I think it's not a cheat, everyone can do it, but if someone duels me or something I'll ask if I'm allowed to do that trick or not.
In any case Mike.
U can avoid it too, of course I'm not telling how either

Well, i never used it till up to last month. Hahhah, i was playing for 3 years and I know about it now.
Anyways, if it is legal... then the rule of thumb is, if its in the heat of battle, then why not take advantage. NO camping tho, thats just wrong. Cuz i'll just spaz kick u, and score a point http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif.
But if you are one of the great ... you know you have to deal with it, so don't complain. Usually its the inexperianced that are complaining.
