Is it possible to change the post JJ2 uses for online play?

My friend's college restricts the ports he can use online, and it blocks the port JJ2 uses. Is it possible to somehow change the port that JJ2 uses?

If memory serves, you can hexedit JJ2 to use different ports, but the results may be undesirable.

I tried that... and the game got a bit wacky...
details changed and the game tilted very often...
(If I remember correctly...)
