How many of you actually care about spreading/not spreading jj2 illegally? Since I've been reading recent comments about how many wouldn't mind giving out jj2 to friends/uploading it (one good thing that could come out of this is that jj2 will have more players) but I'm guessing many here are still against the idea.

Just curious as to where the majority of this community stands.

Oh yeah, and if you don't mind, please don't post warez links here because Fquist will get angry ;P.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 should be bought. I dished out my $20 for my mac edition and later exchanged it for the PC edition, so everyone should pay for it.

And if they download it, that's ok too, unless it was downloaded from a spambots advertisement on the listservers.

I am all for people downloading it. But as long as it's illegal, I won't endorse it.

But still, a game that no money is being made off of to begin with should be classified as freeware, in my personal opinion.

I'm somewhat against it, if for no other reason than the fact that I preordered it and paid full price for it. ;p

I'm for people downloading it, the companies that made it are no longer selling it, and our community needs people. (so if we post a link to www.jazzjackrabbit.net fquist will edit our posts ;)? )

I don't really got a good option to this. If Jazz really gets inactive then it would be cool if everybody could get the games for free, but it stays ilegal..

- It's illegal.
+ More people = more people = less whining about too few people

*shrugs* You can go ahead and do it as far as I'm concerned.

I now see automatic messages on Jazz2 games that shows the link where to download the ilegal full versions of the games. But I don't think that will help, people who are playing online own the game already, and the Jazz2Online admins wouldn't like this, I think...

Maybe not, but they can't do anything about it in the game (<s>no jurisdiction, haha :p</s>).

Edit: ...my smileys. :(

Yeah, Nimrod manages the listserver and those automatic things, isn't it?

I'm not sure. I bought the game for the full price with delivery costs so I don't feel it right if someone has it for free. On the other hand, the game income doesn't bother Epic much anyway and everyone would love to see new players in the community... I guess.

Go ahead and download it. As far as I'm concerned, I've got an original copy and you don't.

I would think this should be legal. When a games old, the company no longer gets any money from it anyway. So I feel that there should be nothing wrong with it.

But they still have the rights of the game, so it's still ilegal...

By this point, I really dont care if someone downloads. Unless Epic starts selling it again, I dont care.
<I dont think all the people who got Quake 3 for full price are (-) off that you can now pick it up for a few bucks at dollar stores now.>

I don't mind people downloading it free. If it ever does get released for free and a lot of new people come, it would be nice if everybody who has been here for years gets a special JCF tag, just to show that we are us. Like "Old JCF Member" or something.

And jazz2 was released in 1998, now it's 2005. So the old owners of the game (like me) that paid a big fee for it wouldn't care about this. Like I said the game is still ilegal to share and Epic still has the right to sell the game again. The only thing I dislike from this is that the Jazz3 demo is easy to download now. Epic didn't even released that one to the public, so it wouldn't respectfull if we share work that the developement team wants to keep 'secret' to the public. But that's just a personal option.

While I don't like the idea of ileaglity, I support those who just can't get a version of the game. It took me years, and much searchingness to locate the Jazz stuff I have today.

As far as I'm concerned, download it all you want.

Epic dont lose anything, the game isnt being sold anymore, and your not using there bandwidth as they removed support for the game (list server and website)

The only resource your be using to play online is my list server, and I couldnt care less if you bought the game legally or downloaded it.
