Like I said on the RabbitJournal, I was making a Jazz fansite in PHP. Some things from it are now online and that's why I made this thread, as the J2O links section isn't that active. The site is in a huge developement state, but it will have much Jazzy content and downloads. Now go and view the little things that are ready, and say what you think about it!

Aahah, first to comment. :p

I think the layout is quite functional, and it's good that there is so much free space around the edes (maybe you could expand the middle window a little more, in order to show more text/pictures?). But...it looks so much like the layout of J2O!

It's all nice and fun, but the problem is, it's exactly the same as Jazz2online, only with a slightly different layout. For example, the forums have the following categories:

Jazz General Talk
Jazz Creation Talk
Jazz Future Talk
Jazz Online Talk (=Clan + tournament forums merged I guess)
Other Games (okay, we don't have this one at the JCF)
Other Things (=Misc)

There's just, hardly anything new. Come up with something original and good, and I'll visit your site, but for now, J2O works just fine for me.

My site is not there to concurate J2O, it's just there for one reason: supporting Jazz Jackrabbit. Like I said it's still in a huge developement state, so it will become more originally in future. And I'm still not a good PHP programmer, so the scripts are somewhat simple.

Eh, there's nothing to worry about then. I know that I will wait. ;P

EDIT: Hm...maybe use the Jungle tileset more. ;P

Remember, the key to having a succesful additional JJ2 fansite is doing original new things, things that expand the community's interests, new ideas... pretty much all sites that are just copycats of the big known sites fail since they don't bring additional value. I think there really are things that could make new sites like yours succesful. All of those consist of developing new ideas, though.

I agree with Quist. To gain popularity, specialize the site in things J2O fails at. You don't want to copy sites that worked, you want to make new sites that work in a different way.

Now the interesting things is, what does J2O fail at ;-)

Jazz2Paradise is not a replacement to J2O in any way. It's just a nice idea to have another succesfull Jazz2 site on the internet. You know that I still suck on PHP, so the scripts will stay simple for now. The first thing what needs to be done is a new layout, I will start working on it today.

Thanks, the GIP table still makes the layout look weird, but that will be fixed soon.
