Online Problems :D

Hi Jazz2 Gamers!

I search a whole couple of ours on jazz2online and this forum but I still can't play coowl battle's online :(

- I have download the newest server patch
- I have Jazz2 the secret files, so ive the there the newst patch also

As I start the game and i will join a battle game over the internet i get a list
(thats ok..) but the game names are transparrant and i cant join them :confused:

Ik was searching by: Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and Gateways and then by part 4.
Configuring my gateway..

I didnt understand that information about ports that you must open and gateways that exist.. maybe you will lauch now beqause u now its simple :roll:

Now is my question, can u give me a simple good discription or site??

If it's greyed out, the server is a different version of JJ2 than the one you're playing on. My guess is that you're using TSF to join 1.23 servers, which isn't normally allowed because your anims.j2a file would be different than the one you've got.

The solution? Either use Project Controller 4, or play 1.23, which is the version that is more commonly played online, for many reasons.

Oh, and this information is very commonly repeated in this forum, five minutes of searching would have given you the information you were looking for.

I know what the problem is...
There are 2 main versions of JJ2, The Secret Files (1.24) and plain, normal Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (1.23).

Most players are on 1.23, and the two versions are incompatible (you cannot join 1.23 games using TSF, and 1.23 users cannot join TSF games). To play in the greyed out/transparent servers, you need to get 1.23 somewhere (if it isn't 1.23 or 1.24, then download the 1.23 patch). You can also use Project Controller and change your version number. Download here: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/info.php?levelID=1334
Then open JJ2, open Controller, go to Tools, Change version, and finally choose '1.21, 1.22, 1.23 - Full (1.21)' and click 'Change!' You should then be able to join the greyed out servers, but not 1.24 games.

Also, 1.23 and 1.24 have animations that don't quite match, so everyone else will look really weird in the game, but don't worry about that. :p

Now i can join games for 30 seconds, i have read somewhere here that it is the firewall that make it (-)ed up... i go and solve that problem i hope :p

So we made the changes in the router a should see if it work :roll:

And it worked.. NOT :O

This is what we did totally:

- Change patch to 1.21 with the program downloaded here (http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/download.php?levelID=1334).
- Installed the server list patch
- Firewall all disabled (out)
- ALL security (including the router) is turned off
- Opened ports 10052-10054 TCP & UDP

Can anyone solve this problem?? beqause even together here we cant make it work. :eek:

I am not sure how to deal with this, but try hosting a game and see if people can join or play.

If hosting games is successful, then at least you can play online, which is something. :)

I did host a game :

On my pc it shows sometimes that the game (test server, my game) is on, sometimes not.
Of course i refresh the page. So that cant be it.
I did join jcstalk and ask someone to join my game, but he didn't see the game to.

I have read the whole technical forum with problems that possible like this, but the only thing i can get out it is that some people have problems with the linksys router
(mine is Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G)

I cant solve it, i am not that kind of network hero })
