View Full Version : A Jazz Jackrabbit Podcast

I was brpwsing through the Itunes music store when an idea for a Jazz Jackrabbit podcast popped into my head. It'd have remixed music, afverts for new packs, interveiws with community memebers, interveiws with the game developers(well, maybe. Just maybe)
And slightly after that I made this topic about it.
If there was a Jazz Jackrabbit Podcast what would you want it to have?

I think the intro should have CliffyB saying Jazz is a super-uber pimp character.

I could do a weekly Jazz radio program. I'd be honored if it were hosted.

I'd do a commercial for Foo Products. I already made one because I read this.
"Why are you wasting your time at those other crappy joke sites?" (in the background you hear Strong Bad say "holy crap!")
"GO TO FOO PRODUCTS, THE DUMBEST SITE ON EARTH!!!"
Odin
Jan 2, 2006, 10:42 AM
Foo Products, while being immensely stupid, is nothing compared to, say, the World's Smallest Website (http://www.guimp.com/), or Purple (http://www.purple.com/).

Sounds like a cool idea. If it's good enough I imagine J2O would link it.
Sonyk
Jan 3, 2006, 05:42 AM
Why wouldn't J2O link to it in the first place? If it's commnunity related, we need the activity.
On another note, I'd like to help with a podcast, should it come into existance. I can talk, if that accounts for anything. Garageband came with my Mac, so I can help record it, and stuff.
But when it does come into existance, it should have stuff like level reviews, recent news, talking about features for JJ2, and maybe a few bits of music remixed from the game.

Okay, Odin and I are working everything out on MSN now, so we won't spam up this thead ( as if we normally wouldn't ¬_¬ ).
We'll post if we have something to post about, I guess... :p

I have a cable connection that is relatively fast a lot of the time. It's slow at resolving DNSes though, so maybe if you want your little show hosted off of my computer on Friday nights or whenever, then that's OK with me. Just give me the content and I'll host it.
CrimiClown

Odin and I have decided a few things that wouldn't be spoilers:
- Odin and I will both host the show. One of us will be the 'host', the other one will go as 'co-host'.
- The name for the program would be 'Carrotus Wireless'. Doesn't it have a certain ring to it? =D
- It'll be a weekly program. Don't complain if we might skip a week if we don't have idea's/time/comments (which provide motivation).
- The rest will be a secret for now.
Don't expect a first show to be launched soon. I think it's worth a try, though.

Well, it's not like Odin and I are making the thing which will actually be up for grabs. It's like a preview. You just have to say wether you like it or not. =D If you don't like any of our idea's, just <s>kill Odin and me right away</s> say it.

Hey, I was offering to host Carrotus Wireless on YOUR podcast, as a half-hour show every Friday. You would have full reign over what goes in, we just have ideas. I think the podcast is an awesome idea, I just want to help by adding a special feature to it.
n00b
Jan 3, 2006, 12:47 PM
Oh totally misunderstood that.
I thought Carrotus wireless would be the whole thing, anyways sorry about the mixup. Continue doing your pilot with Crimi, and we'll have an open critiwue on it to see what could be improved before the release of the first podcast. Or something like that

It seems like 30 minutes sounds pretty ambitious. Not saying it should be less, but do think about:
1. The issues with getting people with lots of things they want to do (and who may want to have their sound used for playing music or playing jj2) to spend half an hour of attention. That's *long*
2. The issues with filling half an hour with material good enough to keep people's attention, and keeping that up for several weeks.
Myself I would be a little less ambitious and focus on making the podcast focused, short and to the point - to maximise attention and the people listening. You don't have to give up quality to have it shorter. Or you could provide versions with additional music etc. and without.

Me and CrimiClown decided that it'll be just 20 minutes. Also, we made a quick draft of what the show might have:
-This week in PWNAGE
-Download recommendation of the week
-Interviews
-Advertisements for various goods and services in the Jazz community

No. No you will not be in the podcast because you did not read the whole thread.
ZAPPER not reading 14 pages is understandable, but this is only 2 pages.
And why not post the ideas here, like the first post says?(I doubt you even read the first post at all)

How dare you criticize my laziness. I read first 10 posts or so and the last 5.... ill read the rest on my own choice... which will be right now.

After talking to n00b and sharing my ideas, I have now been put in charge to actually use my ideas myself... as in actually speak.
The two ideas that I suggested and were accepted were:
1. Have an email address where the community could send questions or details about current projects they are working on (tilesets, levels, etc)
2. Share JCS tips (I might not do this one.)
For my first suggestions I would say just send questions for us to answer cause I don't think the current projects idea isn't too useful or entertaining.
So that's all I'll be doing. If you would like to submit a question for us to answer just send it to carrotuswireless@gmail.com (Send fanmail too!)
Edit 1:
PS: By "I might not do this one" I don't mean I won't use the idea.... rather let Crimi or Odin do it if they are up to it. Sorry for the confusion D:
Edit 2: Sorry for double post!

Perhaps it would be fun to just join a JJ2 game server and see what's going on, like Shadow did on AB radio. Or #jj2.
In any case, good work! Maybe to spice it up a little, and to keep the listeners hooked to you casts, you could make some kind of... soap :p with the JJ2 characters as main characters of course
