JJ2WC III: What mode?

Fellow Jazzers,

As you might have noticed, the recently announced Clan Cup Tournament signups have failed because of too few clans signed up for this tourney. Still, there's enough players to make a decent team tournament. As the opinions vary about which form this team tournament should get, I decided to bring up a poll with four possible options: Only a CTF Cup, only a TeamBattle Cup, both a CTF and Teambattle Cup, or nothing.
This team cup will start with teams consisting out of 3 players. Every player is allowed to form it's own teams.

Well, what do you guys think?

Point is, we could play in a CTF tournament and get pretty far without much preparation (we got experience there). TB on the other hand, would require training and new teams, and none of us (save for a few exceptions) is active enough for that or thinks JJ2 is still worth that. We play totally different games now, that's enough "for a change" :P.

hmm I don't know in which I will participate, TB will prolly win(last time i checked anyway). 2 tournaments would pwn, but it's kinda hard on chip to run 2 tourneys imo... so despite preffering ctf I'm basicly gonna put aside my own wishes as people such as chip are doing so much, and all the rest of us do, is whine.
I dont care which option wins, I know I'll only play in 1 tourney, as I lack time for two. But to all those who would only play in one tourney, sure its ur right to say not to one mode or the other, but maybe for the sake of fun play the one that wins(should only 1 win, instead of having 2 tourneys). Cuz we will miss every team that doesnt play. And should for example CC's nr1 team not do that good on TB, no one will say or think u guys suck or anything(not to even mention that i've seen u play TB and you guys don't suck, same goes for rep's ctf skills...)

My math may be a bit rusty, but if memory serves well, I do believe that "3" does not equal "more than 3". I think the idea here is that for a lack of active clans, you can sign up teams of three players, regardless of the clan they're in, in order to have enough teams for a remotely serious tournament. Even though it might be a good idea to allow each team to sign up a spare 4th player if one of their squad can't make it, this would make the 4th player in question unavailable for any other teams that are trying to form (at least, that's what would be most logical, it would be rather silly if a player could hop from team to team throughout the entire tournament), which kind of kills the idea of having enough teams for a decent competition.

Ya but every 1v1 tourney up till now also failed, elimination sort that is, but we've proven that wrong. I say teams of 3, no reserves, so there is enough teams, and let the teams decide on the time they will play like during the 1v1. Sure it will be hard, and it will take time and it will take more time than it should, and chippie will have to make round longer or god knows what.... but on the end at least 60-70 percent of the teams will have played all of their matches, whilst the rest will be won by forfeits. Thats as good as it can get.

Votings are closed. A you can see a large majority of the voters has voted for both a CTF and TB Cup, so that's the way this tournament is going to look like :)
In earlier posts I stated that the start date for the tournament was going to be January 15th, but since that's in 6 days already , I decided to postpone the match a little bit. The start date will probably be February 3rd (which is three weeks later)

For now, the rest of this thread can be used to sign up teams for both cups. The same rules apply as for the Clan Cup,m but with some changes, the format should be:

Team Name:
Team Tag (has to be used during gameplay to seperate the teams, can exist out of maximal 3, minimal 2 characters)
Team Members: (Sign up at least 3, at most 4 members)
Modes: (fill in CTF, TB, or both)

Website will be updates as soon as possible with new rules etc. The CTF Mappool won't be changed, but I might make some changes to the TB mappool. This will be announced in time.

Again, if less than 6 teams sign up for one cup, it's cancelled.

Hey hey, take it easy, I'm currently working on the entire thing and planning to release it in a few days The start date might shift a week though, since I'm busy with University at the moment. Don't think I'm just sitting around doing nothing :(

Once I'm done with the database engineering, I'll open up a new thread on the JCF, in which more information about the tournament will be given. I'll also need (many) people to aid me during the tournament, so they can apply there as well.

Status report: almost finished with the database part, I'm almost ready to enter the data and designing the unfinished webpages. I'm off tomorrow, but I'll try to finish it Saturday or Sunday. Keep track of the JCF and JJ2WC sites for more info.

Oh yeah, the tournament will probably start at February 12th (if everything is ready, and enough officials are found - which shouldn't be a too big problem I suppose)

hmm everyone wants all our matches at saturday, but RRA simply cant play at times later than 11:59am and earlier than 10:30am GMT.we have 2 of 3 matches postponed now and the 3rd one is planned saturday morning. Please dont stuck us in the first week of this tournament, and dont move ANY more matches to saturday.
