Hah. Those are actually really cool. Especially the one of Devan. The Jazz one looks a little much like a little plushy thing, but you have a really cool style. And having style in the first place is already pretty rare. ^^

Yea um... Thank you. EVERYONE tells me that I should be an animator... I can't animate though. I don't know the basics or even where to start.

And I already am on Deviant Art. I am not saying who I am though, because I came here to post some Jazz sketches, not to promote myself and get more pageviews. (And no I am not Tweeter on DA...)

Aegis: THANK YOU... like I wasn't publicly humiliated on my first post to begin with. I can tell that this is going to be a... different forum to say the least...

rux=rocks as in "This rocks!".

Tweeter
Jan 22, 2006, 07:14 AM
So... if that is true... You replace the 'o' with a 'u', and the 'cks' with an 'x'.

"You rux my sux" translates into : "You rocks my socks." No?

This almost doesn't seem to work because by changing 'socks' you are, in a sense, changing the intended meaning of the word. Instead of sounding like "You rocks my socks" it now sounds like "You rocks my sucks." Which... doesn't make any sense AND gives it a negative feel instead of a positive one. So if 'sux' means sucks than what happened to the O --> U replacement? Wouldn't it go backwards and make it 'sox' which, once again, changes the word.

Does this apply to other, non-descriptive words? For example can you make such words as 'chicks' into 'chix'. Or how about the word 'room'? 'Ruum' just sounds like a drunk pirate. Or do you need the O+CKS combination for this to work?

I am not used to this kind of "Internet slang". Sorry for going off topic but I really don't know about this stuff.

Also... am I reading into this too far?

I like you already.

Also, as for animation, could I suggest playing around with a trial version of Marcromedia Flash? It's mainly for object-based animation, but with a tablet you can use it almost like a digital light table. If you have an interest in learning animation theory, you should find a copy of The Animator's Survival Kit.

I don't see whats so different about how the characters look in JJ1 compared to JJ2, except for Jazz's legs(and quite possibly, height, and Eva has different clothing. In one of the comic panels from JJ1's manual, you only see Jazz from the waist up, and you really can't tell much of a difference.

I like Jazz...he is skinny indeed, but you have a rather unique drawing style, or generic praising words to that effect. :p

And it was Nick Stadler, by the way, who drew the in-game Jazz/Spaz/Eva of JJ2. Maybe they aren't much 'fatter' (still 1 tile wide), but the higher resolution makes them seem smaller and take up less space.

Keep it up. And if you are determined to make your presence felt here, masterly experience with the *hypno* emoticon is essential.

The coloring's not bad, but watch your antialiasing. The grayish bits around the outside of the figure are generally seen as unprofessional. Usually, they are prevented by reducing it to 2 colors (pure black and white), coloring it, then scaling it down to make the lines smoother again. Alternatively, some artists color on a "multiply layer" over the lines. The disadvantage to multiply layers is that you can't use the floodfill tool to color.

You have an interesting style with the rabbit legs, but this picture you're edging away from anatomy more than the last, especially on his right (left side of picture) leg. Remember the underlying skeletal structure still applies.

Other than that, pretty good job. It's cute and mean looking at once. =P
