This page (http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/node.php?title=aboutBuying) has much links on how to buy the game. Nobody is supposed to download the game.

Nobody is supposed to download the game.Wrong. Once someone buys the license for the game, they may download copies of that game for free. It's the license you pay for, not the game data.

This means that the game should be uploaded by someone first, which is illegal as well, as I haven't seen legal downloadable versions of JJ2 online yet.

This is correct (at least for Dutch laws) IIRC. It is legal to download things, but not to upload.

You can legally download the shareware version, but that won't do you any good.

Of course you can. But for this community, you could better have the full version in order to enjoy the real fun.

Besides, that law is only for your country

Uploading licensed software is illegal everywhere IIRC.

Not completely. Dutch laws indicate that you may download illegaly uploaded music, but no illegal movies, games and software ;)
These laws change a lot of times, though.

I thought that you may download music and movies but not games in the Netherlands. But I could be wrong..

I'm unsure about movies. Games are in any case forbidden (that's why B.I.G. was found ;))

Meaning "Ban Illegal Games And Software" (o rly) which is redundant because games usually are software. The whole organisation sucks anyway.

So what does the law say about just hosting, not uploading?

Actually it's not "uploading" in general.
The law forbids people to make illegal data available on the internet, so that means either hosting or uploading.
