By tomorrow I should have enough to post a screenie or two. But mind you, I'm doing my best not only with eyecandy, but also "earcandy", if you know what I mean...

The order sucks. Let the maker (in this case 2GJ) choose the next person to make the level.

Ðx
Jun 8, 2006, 12:33 PM
Uhm, give me some reasons why the order sucks :O

Sonyk
Jun 8, 2006, 01:09 PM
You're giving structure to a liberal community who takes what life throws at them.

And because having someone make a pre-defined order gives one person too much power, which also doesn't seem to be tolerated in the community.
<Both of those are probably entirely fase... and someone's (Cooba) probably going to correct me shortly>

Plus we're at a very early stage where you should have people better at storytelling to get the main plot across, rather than people who may or may not be better at making levels.

As much as I would like to do this, I'd need assurance that my turn will come within this year.

Lesson 412 - Punctuation - Apostrophes

Do not confuse the contractions (it's, who's, they're, you're) with the possessive pronouns (its, whose, their, your).

1. (It's, Its) about time you started looking for (your, you're) shoes.

2. (They're, their) coming at about nine for (they're, their) children.

3. (It's, Its) mouth was sore because (it's, its) chewing all the time.

4. (Whose, who's) briefcase will you be using for (your, you're) papers?

5. (Your, You're) going to be late, but (whose, who's) going to be on time?

Wait, so what is the storyline? Or do we just make one up as we go?

Yes.

Crimi suggested something with JJ2 hackers so that's what I'm sticking to.

EDIT: A screenshot for proof. Current progress: about 30% done.

No, wait untill it's youre turn
I keep asking myself... Why do you spell "It's" in a correct way, while you still say either "you're" or "youre" when it's wrong? :O

No, wait untill it's youre turnYou do know that nobody's going to wait for his turn, right?

This is a community episode, so the community itself should decide what to do.

Best option would be to start designing on paper... I use that often... and this way is very good for adding ideas and fixes.

Marijn
Jun 12, 2006, 10:31 AM
The design of the level does not always have to do with the story right, you need small thinks like "in the jungle" of in the desert.. but you can always warp to a other location :D

DoubleGJ
Jun 12, 2006, 11:01 AM
Another screenie to keep you highly interested...

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/7312/ce53ge.jpg

It would be a shame not to use this part of the tileset. About 70% of the level is done, I also need to improve eyecandy in some places... But this shouldn't take too long... In fact, you can already declare if you want to betatest. :P

cooba
Jun 12, 2006, 11:04 AM
One thing I dislike in that tileset that it's barely possible to distinguish the layer 4 masks from layer 4 backgrounds, that ticks me off. Make them transparent and put blue tiles behind them on layer 5? That makes them purple, which is pretty nice.

And I wanna test too D=

Birdie
Jun 12, 2006, 11:05 AM
you can already declare if you want to betatest. :P
Pick me.

DoubleGJ
Jun 12, 2006, 11:07 AM
Another thing is that the tileset highly demands to put most of these background tiles in layer 5... :( I'll try with transparency, but since layers 6, 7 and 8 are used as background, the idea of making them purple is almost impossible to pull off...

...but I still think that tileset suits my ideas the most.

n00b
Jun 12, 2006, 11:25 AM
I can betatest, as long as it's just one level it shouldn't be a problem. And it's just one level, so it's not a problem.

Sacrush
Jun 12, 2006, 12:28 PM
I wont mind betatesting it.

n00b
Jun 13, 2006, 03:25 PM
I have completed my initial betatest of DoubleGJ's level.

Trust me, you guys are in for a treat. As long as other levels uphold this level of standards (BTW, I volunteer to do a tile-boss level)

It´s the music file. I can play it without music.

DoubleGJ

Oh my God! During J2B-ising, the original 2,62MB file has shrunk to 1,03MB J2B!

DoubleGJ
Jun 17, 2006, 09:00 AM
Okay, I think it's ready. I have made a few fixes that Cooba and n00b have suggested... Sacrush didn't note any, and Birdie still haven't said a word, but I guess opinions of 3 betatesters are enough. I would make a credit textstring in the level, if there were any left...

Here's the level. About the next level maker, I'd pick either UR, n00b or KRSplat... Eventually Marijn, as he seems to be willing a lot to do the next lev.

If picked, I'd have to decline. The boss battle I've thought up would feel too rushed in the sense UF would be introduced and killed in the second level

I would like to be third probably.

Whoever said that I was using the patches as a cover-up should be hanged immediately for spreading lies. The real reason the patches were created were out of boredom and the crashes that followed involved N*mrod pestering me about so and so and this and that in the patches.

Nice level,

but, I past this time, ( Or somebody need some nice tileset, of a other theme, with parts out the "reactor core" tileset. )

cooba
Jun 18, 2006, 04:18 AM
You could have used triggers so that Orbitz's first message would be unreadable after it's read already. Also, the second Orbitz message should be changed back to Unknownfile on second thought, it fits better. That's pretty much all.

CrimiClown
Jun 18, 2006, 05:24 AM
Awesome, 2×GJ

n00b
Jun 18, 2006, 05:45 AM

I don't see why you wanted it changed in the first place.

DoubleGJ
Jun 18, 2006, 06:47 AM
You could have used triggers so that Orbitz's first message would be unreadable after it's read already.
Why? If it's on a computer, you should be able to read it as many times as you want to after you've gained access... Unless you mean that it can be annoying when you start reading just because you were passing by... well... making a compromise at this matter would require to move this PC to a more lonely place, but I wanted it to be near the vegetation entrance. I think two times is enough for a player to learn when to jump. :p

KRSplat
Jun 18, 2006, 07:55 AM
Accidentally falling is sort of annoying, but it's not really a big deal since it's easily avoided.

KRSplat
Jun 21, 2006, 05:53 AM

I think not. Is someone making the second level already?

Sacrush
Jul 19, 2006, 03:43 AM
This is great! if really no one is willing to start then I think I have to do so. Id rather not though. Anyone who is willing to make the next level should say so.

Puffie40
Nov 30, 2006, 02:26 PM
Com'on guys. I don't care who makes the next level. GIT TO WORK!

Sacrush
Dec 6, 2006, 12:56 AM
I really would make the level if I wasn't too busy right now, but this will never work like this. The orginasation just suck and I think we should have someone else to run this except Dx, since he doesn't seem to be active. So who want's to organise stuff? Because this won't work without, as the most of us already noticed. I would't mind taked over this but there might be some other people who want's too? Also if no people volunteer I just start taking this over to get this active again.

Puffie40
Dec 6, 2006, 01:09 AM
I could offer to organize the production, but I'm a newbie at such things.

Sacrush
Dec 6, 2006, 01:18 AM
Always better then no orginasation at all, but we can better wait for more poeple to volunteer. Also I have some good ideas to get this active again. I also really want to organise it.

Too Olsen: Without music it seems to work, try that.

Olsen
Dec 6, 2006, 05:23 AM
Well, I'm up for levelmaking/organizing.

Sacrush
Dec 6, 2006, 07:28 AM
Would you mind if I started a new updated thread? then we can all help on making this active again. So I think we all need to organise this instead of just one. I think the first thing we need to do is making a new thread and sending every people on the list if they are still in and if they are willing to create the next level. Also getting more levelmakers would be a nice idea.

Olsen
Dec 6, 2006, 07:39 AM
I wouldn't mind. ;)
