The Jazz Jackrabbit community has existed for around a decade or so now, and is still going strong. From the humble purple little rabbit that came from the creators' minds originally, to the 90 FPS, whole-heartedly drawn characters more recently, this little platforming game has sparked the imaginations of tileset, music and levelmakers everywhere that have all come together here to these sacred forums to bask in the glory that is that little Jackrabbit whom we welcomed into our homes and hearts, either through a 3.5" floppy shareware, a Compact Disk, or a (perfectly legal) download.

Surely there is enough demand to spawn another of these fantastic games, or even very simply another version of the ones we already have. Perhaps a new episode, or something-- for I believe I speak for us all when I say we have not had enough Jazz!

[N.B. Except for you, the one with green hair, all the original diskettes, a model pea-shooter, a semi-pornographic poster of Eva and/or Lori on your wall and a year's supply of fanfiction. No more Jazz for you. Go home.

Jazz 1 does have a level editor, due to a large effort by a bunch of community members. Also, there is Open Jazz which is a source code remake. So, there is lot's more Jazz for Jazz 1 ;(.

Well, the thing is, our community is just too lazy to make big games with a jazz 2 feel. Like Skitch Possum, which died. As far as single player episodes go, there are plenty. Huge ones. In fact, in the works is a community built single player pack.

But the true fun of jj2 is multiplayer, not single player ;(.

Multiplayer, you say? After all these years (since 1995) I've never played a single multiplayer game simply because of the Internet difficulties.

But is it really that fun? Really? Huh? I MUST KNOW.

It's better than single player.

Hmm... mmm... interesting... Mmm....... Very, very.... interesting....

An online platformer would be simply mind-boggling. I mean, a platformer? Come ON. Jeez.

You seriously need to get with the times. What about MapleStory? Online, and platformer.

See, the problem is, not only am I over seventy years old and obviously not with the times, but I am still aware of what most people are playing these days-- 3D first-person shooters, strategy games, some even console RPG's. This is honestly the only platformer I ever heard of that could possibly have internet play.

Uhh...then you haven't heard very much. No offense.

And yeah, the only reason a majority of people playing jj2 still play is because of multiplayer and multiplayer levels.

That's a *T*PS -.-

The XLive Arcade has platformers that you can play online to, right? Maybe Epic might turn JJ2 into an arcade title, because then they could earn some money. Maybe that's why they refuse to give permission for fangames.

Woah, woah... worms is a special case (I think) because it posesses RPG qualities (I think) and strays from almost every platform convention (I think).

Edit: Didn't anybody notice that I said I was 70 years old?!

(Razz arena is a TPS, people.)
Worms isn't a special case. It's just a turn based platformer.

And people claim to be an age they're not all the time, no one really cares what age you are.

You're right. I saw its video, and the sound effects and music were of sublime quality, especially during the time. The beta test graphics were below-average, though-- something they could have definately improved.

But we're missing a few extra million people who buy platformers, aye?
