I feel your pain. The first year of university was spent with a tempermental 48.8kbps dialup link to The World As We Know It, and the campus 802.11b link just out of range.

'Course, now I've got a 10mbps cable link, and I've yet to come across a server that'll get close to saturation over that link. A lot of web servers don't even have that - a T-1 is only rated at 1.5mbps.

Then again, if all goes well I will have a 9.6kbps GSM link from my Palm to The World As We Know It.
