Ok I've decided I want to host a tileset contest. When entering a tileset, you have 5 options:

Option 1:
You can use as many colours as you like but it must be only 100 tiles.

Option 2:
You can only use the Sprite colours (you aren't allowed to edit them), but you can use 300 tiles.

Option 3: You can use any colours and 200 tiles but it must have Christmas theme.

Option 4: You can use any colours except the original sprite colours. These must be edited. (Excluding the transparent colours) You can use 250 tiles.

Option 5: You can use any colours but it can only be 10 tiles!
(Like in Noka's "The smallest tileset ever"http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/info.php?levelID=4413)

To enter just PM me!

Here are the contest rules:

1.The 5 options will not be counted as 5 contests, but as 1, so pick the option wisely!
2. You may only have one entry, don't send in multiple.
3.The tileset you make must match the option you choose. If it isn't I will PM you telling you what is wrong with it and to change it.
4. Feel free to include an example level and/or music but these will not get rated. However, it might help me judge it!
5.The deadline is on 1st December. Tilesets sent after that will not count.
6.The winner will be announced on 15th December publicly, and a PM will be also sent to the winner.
7.There is no prize...but fame is good enough for some ;)

Good luck making a good tileset!

EDIT - If I recive less than 10 entries by 1st December then the contest will be cancelled.
Do not use this thread to enter a tileset, they must be sent via PM.

I would do it, but I have never made a tileset before. I have MS Paint and Paint Shop Pro. I got TilesetPal also. But I don't know how to use them to make tilesets.

Have a look here: http://tilesets.hewwo.com/

This site is very useful, whether you are a beginner or not.

Only 1 entry so far.

When entering, use http://www.storageserver.co.uk/put.asp, upload the Zip file (make it private) and PM me the link and the code to download it. Here's an example: http://www.storageserver.co.uk/download.asp

The code is 1NLME.

Oh, and also state which option you are doing.

Grytolle
Oct 24, 2006, 11:16 AM
What option it is should be quite obvious, else the submisison isn't good enough to win anyway.

PurpleJazz
Oct 24, 2006, 11:26 AM
Please tell me which option you are doing in the PM that you send the tileset.

You say this two days after you submited your entry, most of the other people who entered are probably taking more time on their tilesets.

Exactly 1 month until the deadline.

Jerrythabest
Nov 2, 2006, 05:57 AM
right now we have more promises for levels made by the winning tileset than tilesets that have been submitted :P

maybe you should consider tilesets under construction as 'in the contest' too, that'll give a better view

How are you going to be judging the tilesets, generaly there should also be more then one judge too.

Thanks for pointing that out, Birdie.

If any one who would like to help judge the contest who is not entering please say so in this thread. And for the judging, all the tileset will be reviewed in the normal way, and the tileset with the highest rating wins.

Well, that doesn't entirely awnser my question. Will the highest and lowest reviews be excluded from the rating, will it be the adverage of all the reviews, the total?

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Saphir
Nov 5, 2006, 12:23 AM
He wants to know exactly how you are going to take the reviews into account. It can be put as this..
1) Will you take the average of the ratings?
2) Will you take the total rating of the ratings?
3) In any case, will it be all reviews, or will you remove the highest and lowest ratings (to make overrating/underrating less likely)?

Jerrythabest

12 days to go before the contest ends. At this rate it looks like it will be canceled because of the lack of entires.

PurpleJazz

The contest is over. I only had 2 entries, both of them were crap. Close this thread please.

Why not make a thread for both entries with a poll and let us decide which of the two sucks less?

Please? It'd be fun.
