The rules are simple. The contestants choose who goes first, then fight, trading "punches." Upload your punch within a week of the last punch, or you forfeit and the other contestant wins. Four punches total, two each. Everyone else votes for who they think should win the fight.

Good luck contestants, may the best crowd pleaser win.

And Faw, could you go first please?

Fawriel
Dec 1, 2006, 12:59 PM
Sure... but, I have to agree with Radium. Why are you already winning although the battle hasn't started yet? =P

n0
Dec 1, 2006, 01:05 PM
Well, I don't know... I haven't voted for me yet, someone must already realize that YOU LOSE, SIR! ;p

Radium
Dec 1, 2006, 01:08 PM
I think it might be better if an ambitious admin deletes the polls and reinstates them when the fight is over. It's easier to see who's winning if you vote, and the more people that vote the more interesting looking at the result is. It causes a loop.

... didn't we use to be able to add polls when editing a post?

Stijn
Dec 1, 2006, 01:16 PM
As far as I know, adding polls afterwards is impossible. So we'll just have to substract votes afterwards, I think.

Radium

As far as I know, adding polls afterwards is impossible. So we'll just have to substract votes afterwards, I think. As in, clear all the votes so everyone can revote, or just removing them so only those who did not vote can?

FQuist

AFAIK, clearing votes and making it possible for people to revote is not possible except through database tweaking (which is rather complex with like 8 of these topics), so people who already voted should just take their loss, I guess (their own fault, anyways).

n00b
Dec 1, 2006, 01:51 PM
Perhaps I and the other 3 voters could PM their votes to n0 and they will be manually added in at the end.

I really only voted so Faw and n0's votes would be kept equal.

n0
Dec 1, 2006, 01:55 PM
I say go ahead and let them vote. If they want to vote before they see any entries, I can't stop them. I can just warn them that I can't change their vote if their opinion changes.

Puffie40
Dec 2, 2006, 11:47 AM
Why don't you create a seperate thread for the voting once the battle is over?

Fawriel
Dec 2, 2006, 01:02 PM
Or rather, make one single thread for all votes when the first round's over and count them by hand?
With voting taking place before the actual fight, this will just turn into a popularity contest... ( which it unfortunately <i>is</i> anyway ).

Radium
Dec 2, 2006, 01:13 PM
Or rather, make one single thread for all votes when the first round's over and count them by hand? This would work okay. Anyway, if people can actually see what others voted for, there's likely to be more voting based on ability and less on sheer popularity (it's much easier to scrape up votes for friends when nobody can tell you did so).

n0
Dec 5, 2006, 07:11 AM
So... Faw, you have two days to upload something... just thought I'd let you know.

Fawriel
Dec 5, 2006, 09:19 AM
Yes... sorry for being slow. On the other hand, there are two threads completely without movement so far.

n0
Dec 6, 2006, 07:11 PM
Uhm, since your delay isn't slowing me down (You told me what you were going to do so I can respond), deadline extended.

Fawriel
Dec 6, 2006, 09:35 PM
Looks like I didn't even <i>have</i> to skip school then. Yay! =D

Hey Faw, How's it going?

Fawriel
Dec 23, 2006, 11:50 PM
I just learned that I'll spend the next two days without internet or computer.. so the comic will probably be there on the 27th, as I still need time on a computer to edit the images.

Fawriel
Dec 29, 2006, 08:55 AM
As much as it pains me to say this: I forfeit.

I'm home now and will leave again early tomorrow morning. There is no way I can still finish the Punch anywhere near in time, and considering all the important things I've postponed pondering about this project, I have to say that I really don't have the time.

I will still finish the punch sometime soon, I want this little project to have a proper ending after all.
I really wanted to win this round and challenge Dev in order to present a big public apology for past stupidity. And forfeit then. But I guess I'll leave the past behind and have the best start into a new year I've ever had.

Radium
Dec 29, 2006, 09:00 AM
You know, the holidays seem to be getting in everyone's way. You could probably just ask Nobodyperson for an extension and nobodypronoun would care.

Fawriel
Dec 29, 2006, 09:05 AM
Well, I guess this is not even the slowest battle.
If that would work, I'd accept.

Strato
Dec 29, 2006, 09:05 AM
I'm voting for Faw.

=O

I only entered this art battle so I could fight you. And now you've got me all curious. You'd better finish your punch, dude, and WIN. Better late than never.

Fine then!

...n0, an extension, please?

n0
Dec 30, 2006, 10:52 AM
Sure, at least until Shadowman vs Gabberfriend decides something.

Hareoic
Dec 30, 2006, 02:59 PM
Stijn just forfeited. That's the second forfeit I've seen so far.

n00b
Dec 30, 2006, 03:05 PM
Really? It's my third. My collection of forfeit sightings is larger.

Jan 2, 2007, 08:03 AM
Uh, Faw, I have my entry ready, All I need is to see yours to make sure it fits and have Radium upload it to foxmage...

hury plz thx!!1

Hey, unless you upload it like, now, I'm going to have to just upload mine and you will forfeit.

Radium
Jan 5, 2007, 05:52 PM
Hey, unless you upload it like, now, I'm going to have to just upload mine and you will forfeit.
Now that's just unsporty. There are other battles that haven't even moved yet.

And we're all looking forward to the epic Faw vs Dev battle, presuming Faw has been working all this time on something so amazing that you are guarenteed to lose.

n0
Jan 5, 2007, 08:48 PM
No, it's not unsporty, everyone else is done with round one, and I gave Faw an extention a week ago, still no sign of life.

Although I would like a challenge more than a forfeit, we need to move on.

HURRY UP FAW!!! D:

n00b
Jan 6, 2007, 05:27 AM
No it's very Unsporty, unless you two agreed elsewhere I have yet to see you officially give Faw said extension. Just "I'll think about it after Stijn decides something" "I'm already done without actually seeing yours! HURRY!" "IF YOU DON'T UPLOAD IN THE NEXT RELATIVE SECOND, I'LL WIN!"

Fawriel
Jan 6, 2007, 07:42 AM
I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, butas I said before (?) I will have neither access to a scanner nor an image manipulation program ( and obviously little internet access ) until monday. If I'm thrown out, I understand.

Puffie40

I second n00b's opinion. Well said!

An art battle should take some time. everybody is forfieting mainly over "Lack of time", This is supposed to be FUN, not a race against time!

Strato
Jan 8, 2007, 01:05 PM
Look, we agreed to the rules before hand. I think Faw has had AMPLE time to do this in.

n0
Jan 8, 2007, 01:42 PM
...you waited so long the poll closed...
I'll make another poll if you finish shortly, otherwise...

My entry.
In LYRICAL form!!!

Punch #2
- by Fawriel

Pummeled almost doubly dead,
The weasel soars towards the abyss;
Silence follows except for his head,
Within which broods a thought of his:

"Seriously, who's he calling a lemming?"

Apart from flipped color schemes,
And contrary to the weasel's esprit (Life is teh rawk!)
One has to resort to internet memes:
They're obviously emo.

Where did this cliff suddenly come from anyway
Why do 176% of damage show no sign of decay
I don't feel lighter but I fly like hay -
Fawriel notes to his dismay -
And a 176% combo, that's totally gay
That's so uber, what the (Derby neighs) -

These musings, and many more,
While walking up a vertical floor,
Come to Faw,
Who forgot about a nature's law.

He-who-is-not in bravado gloateth,
The adience ( also absent ) cheereth,
When he suddenly perceiveth
The green one next to him:

"Seriously man, what's up with that?"

In shock and terror, the zero jumps,
Ascending, skywards, in a cartoonly fashion,
I don't know why, ask Hanna-Barbara.

Seriously, what's up with that.

..before anyone asks, I did plan to make a comic, but with serious sickness and school and crap,I kind of have other things to waste my time on. \o/

Eh, the rhyming was a bit irregular. The "-ay" stanza was very nice but the "-eth" one didn't flow at all. I'll hold out for N0body's retaliation.

The rhyming was extremely irregular. Intendedly. It also wasn't quite to be appreciated for its lyrical beauty...
I could just as well criticize that your storytelling in your entries is a little over-the-top. =P
