Shade, are you actually this moronic or are you trying to push my buttons?

I'm pretty sure a company like ambesoftware would remember to do something like redraw everything else (which is such a dangerous process apparently, but I'm sure they're the renegades to do it), especially since the project is expected to hit some turbulence to begin with.

I am not disputing the coolness of Foo Products making a cameo appearence, I am disputing that there is no need to go to the lengths DrMoo has suggested to secure such an appearance (even if it "was" a "joke"), although apparently I'm wrong and everyone either thinks Ambesoftware is too stupid to have an artist redraw all the sprites to suit the parody laws or that the idea of redrawing the sprites is just plain impossible.

The sprites have been redrawn thousands of times. While it's questionable, I'm fairly certain that in some cases something as simple as a recolor counts as a remake.

Anyway, while we'd all love Foo Products to be in the game somehow, that's (at this point) irrelevant. It's not our game to make, and even if it was it's only 1% done, so thinking this early about cameos and such would just be foolish.

What is all this talk about the Terexin sprite? This is a 3D game. :( Even if there were foo movies for some bizarre reason, why would they be remotely sprite-based?

2d level design exists in 3d games, such as the Qwark levels in Ratchet and Clank 3.

2,5D has it all. Remember that discussion? That was awesome. I hope the next <strike>fool</strike> one to say "I'm making JJ3" makes it 2,5D. Jazz Jackrabbit is made as a 2D platformer and the only way to make it somewhat 3D without screwing up the whole gameplay (left right up down ;p) is by making it 2,5D.

What is all this talk about the Terexin sprite? This is a 3D game. :( Fooruman is part of the Foo Movies, not the game. Ambesoft wants to keep the story based on the original JJ3 one. Besides, the terexin sprite wouldn't make any sense if it were to be included in the game.
In fact, adding the foo movies, which are more part of the community than the JJ universe, won't make much sense either.

Unless Ambesoft is considering to do anything with fooruman or the terexin sprite, we should keep Fooruman and JJ3 separated.

Dear god n00b, can I say anything without you violently lashing out at me?

Isn't it rather obvious that I'm reminding the rest of the forum members and not Ambesoftware? I don't think they're stupid, and I'd wish you'd get off my (-) with all these comments about me being stupid. I'm simply reminding people that Foomovies contain sprites not owned by Epic, and there is an almost null chance that the copyright owners would allow the original content in a game they would gain nothing from.

For a moron, I seem to understand things better than some people here, n00b.

I'd like to say for the record that my original post about Fooruman being in JJ3 was a joke. That said, upon further thought I think it would actually be a pretty good idea.

The game clearly shouldn't just be a big community cameo-bag (if it's ever even finished, which is doubtful). However, having jokes/characters/etc from within the community (such as Fooruman, chickens, and possibly cornbread) would make the game more popular among its target audience (this forum).

Lori tells Jazz you shouldn't be in love (like that) with your brother... but secretly Lori, as being lesbian, gets pregnant of Spaz, because she also fell in love with him. Then she dies of complications with the birth of their child and Jazz commits suicide because of losing his brother to Lori, and because of losing his sister. Spaz remains alone and finds his true love in Devan, who suddenly kills him after many years: Spaz was the enemy!

Except it totally disregards the literary rules of a deveolping character. Somewhere down the line, Jazz changed his motivation from money to making a metaphorical touchdown with Eva. Your idea therefore, makes no sense.

Mine however does as Devan routinely comes back, much like King K. Rool, with an even Crazier plot. If certain info provided in JJA is to be believed, the same somewhat applies to Dark Shell.
Case in point: Jazz is very bad at erradicating leaders of oppresive turtle regimes, despite this being his only career.

Xobim
Sep 18, 2007, 05:44 AM
I've based that story on the JJ1 manual comic, which was a big mistake as you pointed out. I just think it would be a lot cooler if Jazz would fight the rabbits instead of the turtle faction.

Hey, guys, this conversation really doesn't add anything to the topic. I understand it's important to make sure people understand why they're being asked not to perpetuate an activity, but that can take place in private messages, or at least with constructive phrasing. "Please kindly stop being an asshat and try to stay on some kind of logical topic," for instance, is NOT a constructive phrase, and the language does not encourage the person you're addressing to comply with your commands so much as to get offended and defensive. Which defensiveness, by the way, can ALSO take place in private messages. As it is, the last thirteen posts (including this one) have had nothing to do with the topic at hand. Considering there are doubtlessly any number of things that can be talked about when presented with the idea of an independent company making a new Jazz game, such digression seems... well, uncalled for.

Well, I'm sorry about the missing updates. But We're not at all dead.
Now we're currently working to pay for any 3d/2d art to be made.
this is done by doing some design work, and making some smaller games.

But try to keep an eye up for updates on our websites.

My idea is neither JJ3 nor 1.25.
It's Guns of Jazz Jackrabbit.
Here is what it could include:

MUST be 3D like jj3.
MUST have editor.
MUST have object editor (like jsd in jj2).
Must have dialogs with interaction.
Upper left: Face of rabbit.
Upper right: Name of rabbit.
Center: What he says.
Below: What YOU say HIM.
Tasks and missions with stuff done flags.
Super bonus if you collect ALL coins in WHOLE EPISODE.
Bmp, Tga and Avi textures.
Transparency mask.
Background Layers.
Animated textures.
More animation libraries.
MP3 music reading besides mod plugs.
Single sided 3d objects (so you don't see inside the head).
A large inventory.
4D doors (like carrot shop in jj3).
Graphics like play station three.
Home cooked levels list.
Automatical targeting.
Perfect functionality on windows ME, XP, Vista.
Unr to JGM (jj3 to jjg maps) converter.
Sold in all 6 countries.
You control Eva and Devan.
24 bit tileset textures.
Devan steals your gun.
No silly terms (musting write brackets that not exist on your keyboard.
Tell your own ideas.

I have edited the above post to insert my opinions and ideas. Words of BN are in bold.

My idea is neither JJ3 nor 1.25.
It's Guns of Jazz Jackrabbit.
Here is what it could include:

MUST be 3D like jj3. <b>I disagree, but many JJ fans would like a 3D game, so fine.</b>
MUST have editor. <b>This is a must, yes.</b>
MUST have object editor (like jsd in jj2). <b>Not really mandatory. Hardly anyone even uses JSD. Still, it would be nice.</b>
Must have dialogs with interaction.
Upper left: Face of rabbit.
Upper right: Name of rabbit.
Center: What he says.
Below: What YOU say HIM. <b>I do not understand what you mean on this line or the lines above it that I didn't comment on.</b>
Tasks and missions with stuff done flags. <b> The English language exploded here; I can't decipher this at all.</b>
Super bonus if you collect ALL coins in WHOLE EPISODE. <b>Neither a horrible idea nor a great idea; why not?</b>
Bmp, Tga and Avi textures. <b>BMP, TGA, and AVI as textures? I can maybe understand BMP and TGA, though the files would be massive. However, using a full-fledged video container as a texture is an awful idea.</b>
Transparency mask. <b>Huh?</b>
Background Layers. <b>You mean like skyboxes? I don't think I understand this either.</b>
Animated textures. <b>Sure. But not AVI files.</b>
More animation libraries. <b>Can't argue with that I guess.</b>
MP3 music reading besides mod plugs. <b>Everyone seems to want this. I personally think it's a bad idea (why we wouldn't use OGG or some other awesometacular format is beyond me), but everyone who's ever made a level wants it, so might as well have that.</b>
Single sided 3d objects (so you don't see inside the head). <b>Wait, wait, wait. You mean like in Doom? That's an awful idea.</b>
A large inventory. <b>Can't argue with this either.</b>
4D doors (like carrot shop in jj3). <b>Fact: JJ3 featured no '4D doors.' I don't know what you mean.</b>
Graphics like play station three. <b>I could talk about how big a joke the PS3 is here, but that would be a waste of time. I assume you mean good graphics, though that's funny since no graphics I've seen on the PS3 were anything that couldn't be done on a PC (or an Xbox 360 for that matter). But sure, good graphics would be nice.</b>
Home cooked levels list. <b>I have to disagree. The way JJ2 handles user-made levels kind of sucks. If there were iTunes-esque methods of organizing the list, I'd change my mind (sort by author, sort by gametype, etc).</b>
Automatical targeting. <b>Awful, awful, awful idea.</b>
Perfect functionality on windows ME, XP, Vista. <b>Replace Windows ME with Windows 2000 and I'd kind of agree. However, the fact that you mentioned no non-Windows operating systems is sad; why not have support for Linux and Mac OS X while you're at it?</b>
Unr to JGM (jj3 to jjg maps) converter. <b>Bad idea. It would be used to convert illegal material so fast that it would make my head hurt.</b>
Sold in all 6 countries. <b>"All 6 countries?" Last I knew, there were more than 6.</b>
You control Eva and Devan. <b>Certainly not mandatory, but it might be fun I guess.</b>
24 bit tileset textures. <b>Why only 24 bit?</b>
Devan steals your gun. <b>....k</b>
No silly terms (musting write brackets that not exist on your keyboard. <b>This makes no sense. The English language hath exploded once more.</b>
Tell your own ideas.

It does not make sense that you posted ideas for another game (which would never [read: <b>never</b>] be made, by the way) in this topic. Some of these ideas are moderately ok; the rest just don't make sense.

I have one more idea.
This time for improve 3d boss remakes.

Queen:
Queen stomps 2 times at good health, 12 times ad critical health to throw ceiling down.
Avoid it.
When the queen screams, hang upon her shield, or you will have a sad impact with the wall.
She gets tired screaming.
When she's tired, buttstomp her.
When her health is critical, she chases you.
Jump nearby a wall and she'll crash her head there.

Schwartzenguard:
It throws the frailerang.
Get mehind him and shoot him.
He will turn back to see you and the frailerang will hit his head!

Cyber 6.0 (robot)
16 meters tall!
Chases you shooting you electrons.
Shoot him to increase his wrath.
When it's full, he chases you fastly.
Then avoid him and he will crush against the wall.
If he falls off a ledge, he will use his screw to return up.

Uterus
16 eggs protect him.
Shoot the eggs.
When an egg falls, buttstomp it before it returns up.
When there's no eggs, uterus goes in his shield.
Push it in the mincer to break his shell.
Shoot him as he chases you.
When he falls, mince his meat and... ENJOY THE SUSHI!

A true Jazz Jackrabbit game can't be made by someone that leaves after 6 years from his first game.
Epic WON'T create JJ3. And I have got an idea.
Why don't send the JJ ideas to some TRUE publisher, like Electronic Arts, Naughty Dog, Crystal Dynamics or someone else OTHER than Epic?

Sonyk
Sep 24, 2008, 03:25 AM
Because Epic still holds all rights and licenses to the Jazz Jackrabbit franchise. Nothing is possible without them.

A better idea would be to make a new JJ-inspired game.

Looking good, but I don't like the fact that you're trying to steal Epic's copyrights. Did they give you permission anyway? You can't just take stuff without permission and try to sell it for your own profit. It'd be like remaking Super Mario Bros. 1 with revamped graphics and trying to get money for it

Someone actually did do that. Google "mario forever".
It's okay, but it's funky.
Anyway, I think Epic is convinced that because G.O.D. Games couldn't front the money [or didn't want to] for jj3, and because they couldn't find anybody else, that JJ3 is not happening.

Sounds good if you Epic allows you to do it. I haven't yet got a copy of real JJ3, so any kind of new Jazz game is welcome.

Because of all those problems with getting the source code of JJ2, I'm really planning to try to code a clone of JJ2 that could work as close like JJ2 as possible. But because of no knowledge about coding a game, this project will be big and might abanbone before the clone is ready.

About the legality: The game will use the original files (levels, audio, episodes, tilesets... etc.) of JJ2 (retail), so the original game is needed, so everyone who wants to use the clone, must have a copy of original game and there shouldn't be any copyright fights because they loose nothing if/when I release the clone.

To be honest, I have a feeling that the password protection thing means that the rent for the site hasn't been paid for a while. It's a real shame - after saying that he'd announce that the project has died and they'd release all the material for it, then just disappearing. I was trying to do a bit of work for it, too, but he didn't reply to e-mails after a while, and then this happened. If that really is the end of this project, I'm sure there will be other opportunities, but I'll always be open to the possibility of this being revived sometime in the future.

He is not the first person to get that foreground triggers. Neo has (neobeo's firetruck) and i believe blur has? If Neo ever releases his new JCS v2. then foreground triggers can be implemented through the bug he found.

Now this map i always thought perculiar. I suspect the Neo---> who uploaded it is NeoBeo. Why? when not in SP mode, both flags turn blue to avoid accidental captures. I have never seen another map of such. It was uplaoded FEb 26th 2009 so the project could still be go?
