Connecting to listservers

The first time I try to connect it gives me an error. So I have to go back and press start game again and the second time it connects with no problems.

Does this happen all the time? If you bring up the Spy window, does it say anything about the list server?

I can't connect at all...well sort of. When I connect with normal jj2 it won't connect. When I use the digiex.net/jj2gip or whatever it is it won't connect. When I use the php script in html format it won't connect. When I use j2o's gip it actually WILL connect. But then when I click go it won't connect it'll just sit there with the server list unable to go to that file.

So i am taking a simple guess that i am banned from list servers...

So how do i connect? I use a program of my own design (not saying what it is) and it'll give me the server list through ip masking (basically a proxy) and boom i have all the servers ip addresses. From there i just type that ip into my jj2 client ip address box and i'm back on. And i can host too (not saying how THAT'S done). So you wanna complain about a pain in the (-) try trying to join when you're banned from lists.

You shouldn't be banned from the list servers. If you give me your IP I could check to make sure. Try this out to see if your computer is able to connect to the list server:

Go to Start >> Run
Run: cmd
Type: telnet list.jazzjackrabbit.com 10055 <small>(and press enter)</small>

Do you get a bunch of stats, or does it fail to connect? Here's some addresses you can try:
list.jazzjackrabbit.com
jazzlist.madskills.org
jazz.nimrod-online.com

Your IP has not been banned by the list server, nor has it even been reported as a bad IP, so that should not be the problem in this case.

Did you try the address jazzlist.madskills.org with the instructions above?

It's possible that somewhere the ports that are used by the list servers are being blocked. This can happen anywhere, from your computer, to your network, to your ISP. It will be difficult to trace the problem unless you have other computers you can try using.

Weird though. It's just like one day i'm connecting and a moment later the list servers won't connect unless I use ctunnel.com. It's very weird. I mean I have my ports forwarded and everything. And the only way I can host is if I used that modified jj2 client i was talking about...

Well anyway thank you monolith for verifying that i am NOT banned. I will continue to play jj2 and continue to host/join servers. I will also check into my router settings to see if they ports are forwarded to the right static ip address and i will make sure that no other computer in this LAN is on the same ip as the one i'm on.
