I have a friend (blackfire) who is interested in attending and is semi-currently trying to familiarize herself with the JJ2 community/lifestyle through #JJ2. Could she be added to the possible list?

I'm trying to figure out what the exact date for arrival/departure will be, since I don't see that in the post. Also what does "AM 2nd-5th/6th" mean?

The prices on the VRBO site seem significantly less than the hotel website itself ($80-$100 per night plus $10 per night for additional guests).

Also, from the VRBO site:

* Minimum Age Limit for Renters

* Smoking Allowed

A smoking room isn't a problem for me, but it might be for some people. You should probably phone and find out about the minimum age limit (if it's 25 or something we might be out of luck), as well as the exact weekly rate.

That sounds great, then. Do you have to pay a deposit when you make a reservation?

Anyone planning to fly in to Vancouver WILL need a passport.

Unless you're flying from somewhere in Canada. No passport is needed to travel within Canada.

As for activities, Vancouver has lots. I know there are hiking trails around and within the city (Stanley Park got a bit wrecked by recent wind storms, but they might have enough of it cleaned up by the summer), and a hike is something I'd like to do (it didn't quite work out at WC2006 :(). I also like the Vancouver Aquarium, which is a unique and interesting attraction. There's the Metrotown mall in Burnaby, which is pretty big and also has an arcade ;-). It's right beside a skytrain station and thus easy to get to.

I'm sure our Vancouver residents can come up with even more ideas, perhaps less-touristy stuff that you wouldn't find through Web research.

I think it's unfortunate that we're back to a hotel, but at least it's cheap and accessable.

Next up: Planning activities. I'll work on this tonight and Sunday.

If this really has to be done now (it's seriously not hard to find a general list of things to do), find me on IRC when you want to do it. I'll probably be online if it's not a weird time, and I'll definitely be online if it's a weird time.

As long as you aren't planning on making a specific schedule though, because this is more than 6 months away and its kind of weird deciding specifically what to do on each day this far ahead.

You should rename this to WC07 because... well... it's not on the EC...

Just wanted to lament that I won't be seeing you guys this year, I had been looking forward to it (if it had been on the east coast) but I can't afford the trip out west. I miss you ;_;

I see on the site that it's possible to get a fridge and microwave. Is there any way my mother's room (meaning also mine) could get that added on? Obviously we'll pay the extra.

It's probably a lot more likely that I'll come compared to before, but my mom says we can't go for just a week, meaning that she wants us to go several days before the 1st and after the 7th, which could be a problem. I'll have to wait a bit longer to see whether things improve before I could say whether we're coming or not.

Why is that a problem? That just means you get to see more cool stuff than most of us. You could scope out all the cool areas then meet up with us. ;)

Quick question to those of you who are driving up from Seattle, would anyone be cool with picking me up from the Seattle Airport, or should I only be looking for tickets to Vancouver?

I'll be driving up Friday night and leaving Sunday afternoon if anyone needs a ride from Seattle/Redmond at those times.

I'll try to confirm if we're coming or not in the next week or two.
