Hello,

Please sign up for my tournament here. There are 6 spots left, so please hurry up. You can find the participating players, a mappool (which isn't binding) and the rules there.

I will announce the groups as soon as I have enough players (which is hopefully tomorrow). The tournament won't use really strict deadlines, but just finish your matches as soon as possible.

Check the site for more information.

From the rules page: "Players are not allowed to use any cheat tools, or other kinds of software which gives them a slight advantage over the opponent."

Just to make sure I don't do anything stupid during the tournament: is seekhole a software which gives a slight advantage, or is it a bug fix everyone is supposed to have by now?

Actually, there are still four spots left..

ChaosLord, Dejman, Master Sven and Saphir didn't confirm yet (though I think they will participate), so any other player who still wants to participate can take their spot.

Impressive that we got even 40 people up for a single tournament. But the popularity of duellist-tournaments was already noticed, once the JJ2WC-signups were done in 1 and ½ hours, so that isn't much a surprise.

The groups look balanced(I'm at least glad about mine), and the mappool seems fine, although it's only "suggesting" this time.

You're going to count an austrialian in, who even confirmed she doesn't have a computer FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 10 DAYS?
The timezone already is +11 GMT and even no pc. Its gonna be hard to duel her.

Yes, I give her a chance. If it turns out wrong, I can still replace her (since she won't have any matches played in that case, see the rules).

About the timezone. Yes, you're right. As the rules say, she should arrange her matches herself. If she won't be able to do that, she will be replaced.

Anyway, I think this could work.

besides, two matches (http://www.freewebs.com/quickzcc/results.htm) were already played to 10, it would be dumb to suddenly change that rule after the tourney has begun.

No, actually, I told you the whole tournament would use the system as in JJ2WC3 Duellist Cup. You played till 5 there too. As Gry said, it would be weird to use different rules in one tournament. And I can't change the fact that you played two times till 10 already, but please play till 5 now.

the log i showed to qz proves something else. don't protect him just because he's your friend\in your clan\whatever. it also proves clearly that if anyone is scared, it's him. besides, i'm quite positive mave could've talked for himself.

and i get a forfeit win after all.

Vegito
Feb 2, 2007, 06:33 AM
Gry, Mave just didn't want to play.
Instead of a duel he plays a 3v3 and tells R3p he hasn't got time..

Basically i think its better to go till 5 instead off 10, 10 is way to long and if you want this tournament to work then you want to avoid long duels.

Its good to see that the tournament is running quite smooth, a lot off other tournaments failed before, although if i knew that this was actually a CTF > battle cup, i woudnt have signed up XD

I just duelled Wallace and it became closer than I ever thought it could be. First level we played was my choice : Semi. I won this game 5-0 quite rapidly. Then we played his choice , which was Medieval Skyscrapers. I never duelled there , so that was an advantage for Wallace. And he did use it well : 5-2 for him in MS. Meaning we had a tie after 2 rounds. We decided to play on Jungle's Edge as a tiebreaker. That round was very exciting , but I won it with 5-3 afterall.
Very GG wallace! And thnx to Sacrush for hosting. ;)

Bah, I guess I still kinda suck in semi, even if you were my opponent.
I attack too much and don't leave much room for defence.
That might be as to why I let in some very easy scores.
Was gg though, for the time it lasted.

The last round was kinda the same... I attacked too much ;p

Uh, ok, I have a bit of a situation here. I have been experiencing a bit of trouble catching As, Sasik and Novastar online. Problem is, I'm gone for the next three days, and after that, the new semester starts. In a nutshell, I most likely won't be able to play until the weekend of next week (yeah, I know, not exactly genius planning, but I had hoped to be done sooner). I seem to be unable to find the deadline in the rules page, but I know this doesn't look good. If 8 days of being unable to play is too much, well... feel free to kick me from the tournament or something. If not, I'll try to send emails to people and try to bug them into playing when I'm back.

Vegito
Feb 8, 2007, 09:07 AM

Raven aka StL
Feb 8, 2007, 10:00 PM
That still doesn't mean that if every other person finish their matches, they could still wait for one person, at least not too long...
But since it's a guy like Enigma, I'm sure that won't matter too much.

Emp - GreenPlant (Newspaz agreed to host all rounds)

Round 1
(GP's choice) SBv2
Emp 2 - 5 Gr33nPl4nt
-Two airhits, big deal.

Round 2
(Emp's choice) Semi
Emp 5 - 2 Gr33nPl4nt
-One airhit, big deal.
There was a questionable score due to "chatscoring",
w/e, so it was -1 from me at that point.

Tiebreaker (Round 3)
(Both players agreed on...) JE
Emp 5 - 3 Gr33nPl4nt
-Two carkills (I mentioned only the latter, since I thought one didn't matter, GP agreed to let me recapture)

NovaStar vs. Sucer

NovaStar hosted both rounds because there was no other host available and my host lags everyone to death.

1st round: NovaStar chose Happy Jungle CTF

The level is quite small and I was able to get the blaster PU all the time and with that lame Emma to death 5 times and that was enough.

Score: 5-0 to Sucer

2nd round: Sucer chose Semi

Her bblair file was corrupted and I wanted to +pick a level where I was "sure to win". Here she started off by killing me with seeks that didn't hit me, but I forgot the 500ms lag which means that the seeks are really 0,5 sec journey closer to me than normal. Fortunently for me, I was a bit faster and managed to recapture. Then I scored some points and she did too, only one point tough, and so I won:(

Score: 5-1 to Sucer

Emp vs Vegito

Sasik hosted everything.

Round 1
Level: Medieval Skyscrapers (Veg's choice)
Emp 2 - 5 Vegito
This didn't noticably lag at all. After I had seized the lead (2-1) Vegito took control of the level due to my extremely stupid mistakes. GG.

Round 2
Level: Happy Semiconductor CTF (Emp's choice)
Emp 1 - 5 Vegito
I had some airs and other kinds of lag in combination with a intentionally inflicted 3hk (Veg). Vegito took control on the early goings and didn't make mistakes. GG.

Stijn: Filter bypass edit. You get a subwarning for this, as you very well know such things are forbidden.

Vegito

2nd round:

Veg Vs. Emp. Level: Medieval Skyscrapers (Veg). Host: Sasik. Score: 5-2.

Ah well, I had problems at the start actually. He lead 1-0, then he lead 2-1.
I pretty much took control over the level at that point and he was pretty much finished in no time at all. He was doing well at the start though.

Veg Vs. Emp. Level: Semi (Emp). Host: Sasik. Score: 5-1.

This was pretty easy for me. It was a bit more laggy for him I think, looking at 2 3hks he got. I never even had the feeling he got any close to me. He kept doing the same trick over and over again, resulting in me killing him 4 times, and he killing me 1 time by doing so. Each 4 kills were 2 fast hits. Heh.
Anyways. GG I guess. I had fun.

Edit:

I had some airs and other kinds of lag in combination with a intentionally inflicted 3hk (Veg).

Errr. I wasn't even sure you had fake 3 and you told me to score after the 3hk. I wanted you to recapture even, as I didn't notice you had fake 3 either. It was not with intention.

Errr. I wasn't even sure you had fake 3 and you told me to score after the 3hk. I wanted you to recapture even, as I didn't notice you had fake 3 either. It was not with intention.
Never mind. I meant that you waited at base and shot rf all over as soon as I entered. However, that is completely legal, it was just... evil.

gg, let's duel again some other time, after I've trained myself into shape again.

Well, so I dueled SJ.

1st round: Knightmare Castle (Viv's choice)
Score: Sasik vs SJ 4-5
Comments: I was winning 4-2 already D= Too bad I had 3hk at the end and Viv scored P=

2nd round: Diamondus Warzone (my choice)
Score: Sasik vs SJ 5-4
Comments: He was winning 4-2 already =D

3rd round: Jungle's Edge (our choice)
Score: Sasik vs SJ 2-5
Comments: well, this was weird. I was winning 2-1 but SJ had to go, so we continued this next day and well, there were some 3hk's so we started playing from 1-1 (or sth like that). Though I still don't understand what happened here.

Thanks to Sweet for hosting all rounds.

I just played my duels against Enigma and I have no idea what happened.

BBSwing: 5-0 Enigma
Zaitox: 5-2 Enigma

Comments: Well, this proves that I haven't dueled in weeks. Everything went wrong in BBSwing, I was good at the start but then something happened. In Zaitox he was probably better, but I made some very stupid mistakes. And I missed the flag once.

(-)(-)(-) happened to you then? You have been playing jj2 online for ten years now according to your own words, and two years ago everyone thought you were a newb because you joined J2o with a new name and played jj2 like a newb.

And yea sasik everyone uses his or her brain to some extent, but I don't think that much when duelling unless I have to. (and because I don't think and I still win I guess the others don't think either)

Your post was completely off the point and also a bunch of nonsense, mostly.

No offence towards Enigma, but when he beat me 5-4 in bbswing he was far from overhelming. I got three 3hk's couse I had many fake C. That's the reason why I lost, not because Enigma would have cornered me.
In AYB and Semi I also felt like being better, but again the stupid fake C cost me my life.

gl to yasco for in the rest off the tournament, i withdraw from the losers bracket

Explination/match comment :

b3, we both had 1h, so it was being quite equal, but then he got the hit and not me, because eventually one off us had to die and it was me, ok so 0-1 to him, but then i coudnt get back into the game, i was way to agressive because i wanted to finish him off right away i was on 1h again in notime, an airhit made 0-2, and that was quite the story, but 0-5 in b3 are clear marks, im nothing.

semi, went so fast i got completly destroyed here, THOUGH still after a huge breakpoint in the match, we both had 1h and i knew he would fall down and i was waiting for him with mass rf, but he somehow got through them and ofcource i died, and it was 2-0 instead of 1-1 and that was the end. it was, me hit and he not evreytime and he gets car and me not while we arrive at same time, but i say again 0-10 are clear marks.

im owned i had no chanche at all

Veg vs. Sucer

First level MS: SQ hosted

5-1 Veg won. I had no chance. I lagged, and my only score was a rush, so I didn't kill Veg a single time.

Second level Bblair: Sq hosted

0-5 Sucer won. Veg lagged, I was lucky.

Veg didn't agree on semi because he didn't want to lose. Then QZ gave his neutral judgement and picked Marshland of Evil in which I obviously suck. No need to comment more Veg won 5-1.

Vegito
May 2, 2007, 06:44 AM
Yes.

First level MS: SQ hosted. (Vegs choice)
5-1 to Veg. Heh. It was lets say quite laggy. He indeed didn't get to kill me.

Second level BBlair: SQ hosted. (Sucers choice)
5-0 to Suc. well, 2 levels down, in each 2 of the levels we "overclassed" eachother. I didn't get to kill him. It was rather laggy though. No C spawning, no nothing spawning ;p couldn't hit him while I did hit him on my screen. This duel wasn't much of a duel for me. It was more like asking if "that and that" spawned and so far. :p

Third level: Marshland of Evil. Sasik hosted. (Quickz' choice)
5-1 to Veg.
Hm. I didn't want to agree on Semi because I somewhat knew he may really win. Also I knew he was good in Disto, so I rather not do that either.
As a 3rd option I didn't want AYB. I suck at it. Well, I knew he wasn't very good in all the other levels so.. he didn't want to agree on them. Quickz choose Marsh as neutral level. Well, didn't appear to be very neutral as I "owned" him there.

Sucer
May 2, 2007, 06:49 AM
Yes.
Third level: Marshland of Evil. Sasik hosted. (Quickz' choice)
5-1 to Veg.

and yea I should add that in Marshy my kill of Veg a pure fluke kill and it was made because Veg didn't take C.

I couldn't follow Veg at all because he had very often lagclones upstairs and I had no idea that I can't trust the arrow. He got at least two or three of his kills this way. The rest of the kills were that I went to C while I had 1 and shot seeks back so thought he couldn't follow with Rf. Well he did and I died and he didn't. GG

Actually only in the end of the duel I got used to the 300ms ping server with an arrow I can't trust and a warping Veg that can't be killed normally. Maybe if it was till 50 I might have done better. Both hosts lived much closer to Veg than to me, maybe that's why I lagged more. (which I believe I did)

Nah, it's double elimination, so everyone who loses in the upper bracket gets sent to the lower bracket, so that the winner of the lower bracket gets to play the winner of the upper one in the end.

However, most people don't seem to like being branded as those in the "loser" bracket, and for some reason instantly forfeit when they lose in the upper bracket. So far Quickz and myself were the only ones who deigned themselves to actually play a game in the lower one. ;-P

Veg Vs. SQ.

Medieval Skyscrapers: Veg 5:4 Sq.
Can't really remember the details besides that it was laggy. Yasco hosted.. and the internet in the city where SQ + Yasco live was really crappy at that time.

In round 2 we ended up at 3-3 or 4-3 or something in my advantage in Semi then Yasco's (the host) and SQ's internet went down. That was the reason probably why it lagged like hell in MS and Semi too at that time =P

Anyways, yesterday we decided to duel in Semi again. We started from 0-0.

Round 2: Semi.
Veg - 5:0 - SQ. Host: Napoleon.
It wasn't excactly laggy for both sides .. just that I had huge luck or he had bad luck. Felt like I couldn't get hit at all or something.

Anyway, fyi after that we did a rematch in the same host. I guess I was less lucky there and won 5-3 .. that obviously was closer.

Score: 5-1 to Veg. (R3ps choice)

Well.. Carrotade ftw kk?.. Wasn't really laggy, I was just ... better at playing with the carrots and such (the invincible time mostly. and I got hit on purpose lots of times so he couldn't get carrots.) while carrotade was on.. GG.

Veg Vs. R3p .. Medieval Skyscrapers - Host: Sacrush.
Score: 5-0 to Veg. (Vegs choice)

Well.. "I know how to duel here and he doesn't."
I kinda got him in every possible way to kill someone there. I camped the +1 carrot 2 times and he fell for it, got him at the full C and when he tried to capture flag a few times too. This duel took 5 minutes or something.. He had no chance to really find out how to play in MS with carrotade.
Anyways, gg I guess.

This time however you were really rushing.. and giving me the easiest kills I can get =\ (for example you going for a +1 C when I'm camping it =O.. you did that 2 times even giving me 2 "free" scores :|)

If there's a beer that can do something good for you, it's that one...

Yeah, enough with the beer-talk now..

About the tourney..
The Upper Bracket is completed, Veg won it.. he should now face the winner of the Lower Bracket.. Some matches of the Last 8 should be played there soon (Yasco vs. Maverick and Sasik vs. Sucer), then matches from the Last 6 (Yax/Mav vs. Sperry and Sasik/Sucer vs. Quickz) and Last 4 (winners vs. Squirrel or Superjazz) ..

Complete them soon and let this tourney finally end, thanks!

P.S. You can use the link in my signy for more information ;P

You can say "close to a year" now, since it's revived ;P

The Lower Bracket isn't finished yet and I wanna proove it's possible to finish a large tournament nowadays.. Anyway, Sperry, SJ, Veg, Yax and me are still in, so I think it won't be a problem to finish it..

SJ vs Qz

5-1 to SJ in Semi(SJ's choice)
5-1 to SJ in JE(Qz's choice)

Now scores tell quite much how active Quickz has been around jj2-scenes lately. But as well, I was to mess up my gameplay goofily especially in Semi-round. Good games however, and thx to PJ for hosting.

Yay, the tournament is alive again ;P

Anyway, next up is an all-Belgium confrontation (Yasco vs. Squirrel) and the winner of that one will play Superjazz. Finally, R3ptile will wait in the final of the Lower Bracket at the winner of that match.

Then, the winner of the LB will play the winner of the Upper Bracket, Vegito. If Veg wins, he will win the tourney. If he loses, another duel (I'll post details about that duel if needed) is required to determine who will be the winner of the Duellist Invitational Tournament ;P.

Some laggy game, kinda hate lag maybe :) lol.
Stupid games. Haha. I don't like playing with so many 3hks :(. Espescially fun when you score at them. :o
The lag was no fun. That for sure..

Kinda fun how we both got to complain at eachother about the lag though, lol.
And neither could help it, we both just.. lagged. The lag controlled the game instead of one player controlling the game in a level>\
The player who was the most lucky kinda won the round .. lol.

Well, gratz for finishing this tournament too. 38 players =-\
I won somehow >:\ lol

Grand-final:

R3ptile vs. Vegito

2-5 SBv2
5-3 MS
4-5 Marsh

quite laggy, no to mention rather odd games (we beat each other in our home levels), full of 3hk's from both sides.. the last round was probably determined by 3hk's and Veg camping the seeker warp exit all the time, which made me really angry.... well honestly if you told me a couple of years ago that Veg would be playing me in the grand final of a duel tourney and even win i would've probably been laughing at your face, so yeah.... life is full of surprises. fun games despite it all.. you know i'm not at my best, getting my (-)(-)(-) whooped at SJ's tourney at all.. so yeah, the outcome of this kinda came as a surprise to me, considering both sq and veg are two of the best duelist nowadays.. before the game against veg i even stated i'm already satisfied enough with the 2nd place and therefore didn't try too hard... makes me really wonder, do i still have it after all?... ;)

Well, the Duellist Invitational Tournament started at January 31st, when R3ptile played the first match. Almost a whole year later, at December 12th, that same R3ptile lost the final to Vegito, who didn't lose a single match in the whole tournament. With 40 participants this was probably the largest duel-tournament ever.

The groupstage was quite exciting, but it took ages to finish it. Some players like R3p were quite fast with finishing their duels, while others (most of them were CC'ers ;P) needed months to finish their group matches. The only group to finish all matches was group 8 (Superjazz, Sperry, Dejman and Master Sven). There were 72 duels to be played - 57 were actually played (=79%).

Next up was the knock-out stage. The best two players in each group qualified for this stage. Enigma was added as best 3rd after the withdrawal of Snooze. There was only one walkover (Grytolle didn't play again after the groupstage) and two forfeits after one or two rounds played. It was Vegito who won the Upper Bracket, only losing one game (in the quarterfinals vs. Sucer).

The Lower Bracket - since we worked with the double elimination system - was a whole different story. None of the first matches was played. 14 duels were supposed to be played, but only 4 were actually played. It was R3ptile, the UB-runner up, who won the Lower Bracket, so he had to play Vegito once again.

That final turned out to be quite exciting. R3ptile picked SBv2 as first level, but lost 2-5. Veg took a 3-0 lead in Medieval Skyscrapers, but R3p surprisingly came back and took the second round with 5 points in a row. The deciding level, The Marshland of Evil, turned out to be a real thriller. Vegito won it 5-4 and became the winner of the Duellist Invitational Tournament.

Well, thank you all for playing, I hope you had fun ;P and maybe see ya in some second edition!
