Adding tiles from the previous LMAT editions and any previously finished tilesets is not allowed.
There are no official color restrictions. You may draw in 8-bit, 16-bit, or however you want.
When updating the tileset, you may also edit existing tiles - this includes changing the colors, making them bigger, fixing small bugs, changing the shading, etc.
If you're working on something big and request people to not make additions until you're done (they won't be accepted if they will be of really low quality), you have two days to finish your addition. Else, people will be able to add tiles again.
If you have already successfully contibuted to the tileset, and think that some of the tiles should be deleted from the main tileset image, you may initiate a vote for removal of those tiles. You have to precisely indicate that you're initiating a vote, and which tiles (or sections of tiles) you want removed. The voting period is two days long, and a 75% (3/4) majority of YES votes is required for the desired tiles to be removed.

You may not initiate a vote for another two days after the previous voting period.
If an addition is vastly below the whole tileset's quality standard, it may be removed without the voting process.
You may delete your own tiles at will, unless they're heavily integrated with the rest of the set.
The vote's outcome isn't acceptable if no one has voted.

Do not include a Palette tile.
Please refrain from posting textured backgrounds until we have an idea of what the tileset is like.
If you really do not want some of your tiles to be edited, for whatever reason, specify this clearly, but keep in mind that people might then not use your tiles at all.
Logical content rules apply. Do not use the tileset to contain attacks against other people, pornographic or oherwise illegal images, links to illegal web-sites, or stuff like that. Use your common sense.
Enjoy, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

I liked white better. In fact, wouldn't it be cool to use black and white as a colour theme?

Not really.
... still, I like the white 'dirt/brick' better... we've had so many dark tilesets before, let's make this one a bit bright.

I kind of agee with Frost, except not black and white, but.. dark and light.

Just remember that it wouldn't be hard to make alternative versions of this set. I personally prefer P4ul's edit more, though both could potentially work.

That's the ground used from my tileset...
I don't really mind you using it, but credit would be nice.

It was supposed to be sort of obvious, saying that "look, we don't have to quarrel, just combine both graphics and maybe everyone comes out ahead!" But sure, for the record, that's Purplejazz7's PSP-induced seamless texture.

They seem.. generic...
I'd suggest to suggest themes and stuff, but I'm kind of afraid because it didn't seem to work well last time.
Or maybe it should be settled close to the beginning?

I dunno, I'd like to see the coffee machines incorporated more... like instead of generic cave stuff, we could have a sort of mixed castle/factory feeling.

I still say we should stick to themes that are NOT used everywhere... well, URs idea would count as such, I guess, you don't see many techno-castles....

The endless discussions and theme suggestions put me off helping in the past few LMATs. I think it's better to not set themes in stone at early stages, or even later ones. It just makes people not want to participate since they have to restrain themselves to themes which they might not even like or have inspiration for.
Violet CLM
Feb 1, 2007, 05:15 PM
And what do we get? Kansas!
FQuist
Feb 1, 2007, 05:50 PM
Kansas was quite more succesful than most other LMATs other than Omen Woods (which also did not see large theme discussions)
Violet CLM
Feb 1, 2007, 09:03 PM
So... what? No discussion allowed on the subject of tiles yet-to-come, you can only post tiles and offer opinions on what has been submitted?

I have not suggested any new rules anywhere. Do whatever you want. Just don't get the introspection/discussion to actually-posting-tiles ratio as high as some did the last few LMATs'. You can start by not replying to me. That's exactly what I'm suggesting against.

Well, not much of an edit, but...
(and no I didn't just copy paste and flip)
Sloped ceiling, bigger pillar (possibly for foreground), and wider slopes for dirt ground. As seen, it uses the brown dirt version.

I also moved a few tiles to get the slopes arranged better.

I approve of Paul's soil.
And I approve even more of WR. That's the most awesome idea for a tileset ever.

the objects from this set must be bigger, they look small, and it will be hard to make level with if you dont make them bigger

I completely disagree, for various reasons:
These tiles give the room to improvise a lot in your level design.
I think we have a pretty clear view of how a tileset is build. Compared to most tilesets, for instance Disguise's or Agama's, there is nothing wrong with the size. Except if you for instance compare it to Mez's overly popular block-wise tiles, then they might appear small.
It should not be any different than any other tileset to use. Perhaps it is more likely a problem of your mapping skills rather than the tileset itself.
Moreover, we have to consider the aspect ratio compared to the Jazz/Spaz characters.

Yeah, the texture is better, but I'm really not sure about the color as it will make the tileset rather monochrome if we keep the color of the bricks.

make it more convex, add a bevel or something
or could you make it a cave perhaps?
Violet CLM
May 12, 2007, 12:06 PM
At this point we have so many different textures, I think the most user-friendly option would be to arrange the tileset so you can use any tile you want for soil, and just have special shading tiles for edges or something like that.

well PJ, without something better than mspaint you may as well give up the shading
(it would be best if violet could do the shading if he already tried it once)

I have Photoshop at my computer at home, but I was using my Uncle's Laptop when I drew that soil, which only has MS Paint on it.
