View Full Version : Low resolution + full screen doesn't work

Is there any way to make resolutions lower than 640x480 work in full screen mode? When I set the resolution to 320x240, for example, the game automatically goes to windowed mode and doesn't go back to full screen mode when I press ALT + RETURN.

I'd like to play in 320x240 because I don't like playing jump & runs with such "huge" resolutions. However, window mode disturbs me. Is there any way to fix the problem? I heard there is some program JazzRes.exe available somewhere. Maybe this could help?

Do low resolutions work for someone in full screen mode?

Edit:
I tried it with versions 1.20, 1.23 and 1.23+.

With 1.23+, if I set a low resolution and restart the game the game crashes after the intro movies with the following error: "Fatal Application error. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 signaled the following internal error: Could not set video mode 320x240x8 with Any fullscreen Mode. Make sure that this mode is supported by your adapter and that drivers for your video board are installed properly. If you have not installed DirectX, please do so."
I'm using DirectX 9.0c and Windows 98 SE.

I'm using win xp, and I can use direct draw for resolutions 320x240 - 800x600 16bit and 8bit, so I wouldn't know the problem.

It may just be that this combination is not supported by your video card.

What Torkell said. Your video card probably doesn't support a 320x240x8 resolution. You could probably play it in 320x200 instead.

I thank you very much for mentionning "direct draw"! Whenever I opened the "window" menu, I did that while the intros were played. There was only "640x480 direct draw" so I thought this was the only direct draw mode available. Now I've realized that in game (after the intros) more direct draw resolutions can be selected through the "window" menu: 400x300, 512x384, 640x400, 640x480 and all of these work fine :). 320x240 direct draw doesn't work for me but 400x300 is also nice.

Thus, my problem is fixed. :)
