Well, me and a friend are actually pretty shocked at what we saw about jjr3d being cancelled, and how the entire series just stopped completely now, we really want to bring it back, but are in no position to be able to.

My father however, used to work in a company that is part of the reason jjr stopped, he knows 2 people and is in contact with them and apparently they'll know something about this.

Also, there's a way we can bring it back (I'm sure people already know this and have hopefully considered it), which is to buy the license for JJR from Epic MegaGames, giving us full rights to remake and complete JJR3D, as well as probably making a JJR3 and extensions to the existing JJR games.

---

Sorry if this sounds a bit stupid, but me and my friend are willing to do w/e to bring the game back, call me old fashioned and obcessed for liking an old PC game like this, but let's face it, it was probably the best PC game at the time, maybe even still, and I'm sure more people would agree if this was brung back :).

A company that is part of the reason JJR stopped? Which company might this be?

Anyway, I could write down this whole list of reasons why it's not going to work down again, but I'm too lazy to do so so I'll just refer you to the What If (http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=16387)-thread, which has some discussion about exactly the same subject.

Might you decide to go on anyway and actually spend your money and time on this, I can only wish you good luck, and hope (in vain, I'm afraid) this effort will see the day of light.

What I meant is, the company that was part of publishing JJR wouldn't publish JJR3D, neither would any one else, so it was cancelled (also because the people were never paid for their work), but yeah.

Of course I would love to buy the license and get a bunch of people along side helping rebuild JJR3D etc, but I'm guessing the cost is way beyond the amount I have, and there probably wouldn't be nearly enough people willing to help out.

If there was a chance to purchase the license or (atleast) convince Epic MegaGames to finish JJR3D (which is probably a stupid idea), I'd gladly do w/e to help finish this game etc.

Though I understand the game died a while ago and most of you probably couldn't care less about the game now, I'm still willing to try.

All of us still care about the JJ series, that's why we're still here.
In case you didn't read the 'What if' thread, what ambesoftware is doing is rebuilding jj3 and then they're going to try to convince epic to let them publish it.

What company do you mean? GODGames? Project 2?

I honestly can't remember :(, something like Anglia, but I do know that it was bought by Granada, my father was one of the few people who didn't lose their jobs :).

@birdie: I've been looking through the thread, just not enough yet, if someone is convincing Epic MG to finish it then great, but what I'm also saying is it would be awesome if we had the license and were able to continue JJR2 with patch 1.25, and maybe a 2D JJR3 :P.

Thanks for the link and stuff guys, I appreciate it, it's definitely helping me get a clearer idea of where it all left off :)!

The question is why everyone is so obsessed in the game becoming 3rd dimensional when it's obvious from our design standards that the game would absolutely look pale in comparison to everything else on the market and the only reason for the game in the first place would only be for to see the green wabbit again rather than the game itself.

The only cool thing about the demo that ran about was the improvements to the game serie itself. New characters (Razz, for example) and actual geography of Jazz's home world.

A true sequal to the game might rather be a real content patch - 1.25 perharps, with new playable characters (Eva, Devan, and maybe Razz), a fixed Lori, more ulilities (like new server features, more JCF ulities and the list could go on.) That narrows it down to getting the source code and possible license.

I have to completely disagree with you there, but to each his own.

What gry said ^^ If we rewrite the engine from scratch, we don't need the license.

By "design standards", do you mean our capability of creating awesome effects or an interesting gameplay? For the first one, I believe it doesn't really matter... Think of games like Blockland which looks rather simple but has a great concept to it and thus gathers a large amount of online players. As for the second, I believe it would actually require us to think of something different in terms of gameplay... It's rather obvious that what is very entertaining in 2D might become pale or simply boring in 3D (compared to various other games). However, using the advantages of the new environment to create a more genre-wide game (TPP shooter elements? vehicles? giant mission-based maps?). Of course, large portion of these requires a more advanced knowledge of programming and the game industry in general, but trying alternate ways to simplify the coding isn't as bad as it sounds when you just have a good idea.

So in short, you don't need to be a super-pro programmer to create a fun game as much as you just need a good idea. With the green rabbit in it or not.

Never heard of it, sorry. I'm pretty sure the average gamer nowdays didn't either. It's not to spoil your ideas, it's just the way it is. Surely a game can be fun and "graphics isn't everything" but it's still a large part, not to mention things like game engine.

Jazz has always done his way as the classic platformer game with some unique touches.

It's not that I don't want to see Jazz continued, it's that if an effort actually happens it mite aswell upgrade the game in a way that would get people playing it instead of just for the old fanboys' sake.

Think, all the time you and that cult you call a clan have spent making drama and rude comments in the likeness could've been spent writing at least three game engines by now.

I never opposed the ladder. I'm trying to be constructive, unlike others.
