Hm. Well, I've been drawing a comic with cartoon birds for the last two weeks for an AP Studio Art assignment. For most of the characters I just have them use their wings as fingerless arms (picking stuff up "powerpuff girl style"). I gave one of the characters more human arms and just stuck his wings on his back. Here's a panel that has both types:

I decided to try coloring digitally, since that always looks a lot cleaner than hand-coloring. I gave Coppertop's War Tavern character a shot.

Warhammer's a good inspiration, not like I get it anymore, although I see a thing and think, 'neat! that looks good...'
and draw something like it.

also i've found games like Fable good for inspiration, and picking random letters from Scrabble and messing around with them to get good names, games like Halo and Half life 2 are good for futurisic armour.
