The Dutch hardcore Tweakers/hardware webby www.Tweakers.net has finally released the all wanted interview with Arjan & Co. Only one question was about Jazz Jackrabbit.. sadly..

(original Dutch)
T.net: Iedere tweaker kent Jazz Jackrabbit.

T.net: Every tweaker knows Jazz Jackrabbit. Is there a chance that we will ever get to see a new Jazz game, perhaps on the PlayStation 3? Or is there an option to port the 'old' Jazz games to an arcade-like download on the PS3?

Arjan: Just the other day I had a chat about this with CliffyB, who naturally wants to have this on the XBLA. It's a nice idea to port the old Jazz to a live/ps3 surrounding, but there's a lack of time to do something like that. Who knows, I might get some inspiration...."

Nice attitude and way of putting words into someone's mouth. Arjan has done more for the JJ brand than he could have done in theory and than many corps have done. He's brought you this game. There's the simple reality of having to run a company that doesn't allow you to throw away things that make you money and/or that you may very well also like just for some adventures just because one small group of fans wants it.

Why the sense of entitlement?

Don't ask me why, but a port of JJ1/JJ2 in the Xbox arcade or PSN doesn't say "Next Gen Jazz" it says "Jazz Port on next gen systems"

Did you try to read it before saying this?

Ok, now show me where Arjan says something about a new jazz, because it looks like all he's doing is talking about a port.

Sheesh.

Why do you not just take an advice, n00b? This is nothing personal but please try and see outside the box. Here we have Shadow putting an effort into bringing us news on a dead game and what are the replies - first we have a negative Black Ninja stuffing words into Arjan's mouth, then Grytolle replying for no reason that he didn't want to read it and then finally we have you being unsatisfied with Arjan not answering the interviewer's full question.

Show some gratitude.

You're not reading the answer well enough if you say Arjan ignores the game, n00b. He's talking about bringing back the "<b>old Jazz</b>" (which could just as well mean the character), not the "<b>old Jazz game</b>". If Arjan would want to port the old JJ1 game to anything I'd take it would be a relatively minor thing to convert/improve upon OpenJazz.

Actually, you might be sort of right... I'm noting just now that line about porting was translated badly. The word "porting" does not appear in the original dutch translation, at all. So that's a translation problem.

I was more unsatisfied with the topic title being misleading not Arjan's answer.

Thanks Frank, that's a very good point on the translation issue.

Thanks Moonblaze & Fquist for backing it up.

I've seen n00b doing this to me for a while now. Especially in trying to be a wiseguy and looking in a negative glass. Frankly, it is starting to be annoying.

This game is already 10 years in my life (pre-shareware time etc), so it is a huge part of it. I'm doing this for the love of the game, but comments and people creating this atmosphere makes me wonder why should I even bother putting effort into it. Perhaps I should just delete the directory with Jazz and leave this place. So if that is the solution you want to hear and want to have. Fine... i'll be gone, it saves me time and effort that i have could spended else-where.

Wait, I've been actively trying to look in a negative glass to somehow do... something... to you? What?

Something tells me I should have left in my "Because of this new information, my original point is moot" sentence to my previous post.

jazz would simply rock on the wii. Its a shame epic is more corelated with MS, cuz xbox isnt cute and cudly. On the other hand, jj would bring a little bit of diversity on xbox. hell they could even sell a xbox kiddies package where xbox wouldn't be black and would come with jj:)

Although IMO, jj and wii are made for one another...

Dang, it seems that there is a problem in this topic with people getting along. I've removed my prior post since it apparently offended (although I didn't put a single word into his mouth, I was merely stating that his "inspiration" will need to involve a large sum of cash for anything to happen).

Can't we all just get along?

I think saying Arjan & co only care about money and "don't give two craps about Jazz" are pretty bold statements to make (slanderous, even), and yes, rewriting someone's quote to read like that is putting words into someone's mouth.

JJ was made for minigames?

Just kidding. Although I love my Wii, I'm holding off until the first games developed specifically for Wii come out later this year/2008 (I'm talking about games like Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and No More heroes) too see how they play before making such claims as "x series is made for the wii!"
